Abstract

A cleaning agent for printing pads, esp. those used in offset printing, consists of a combination of a moderately aggressive solvent mixt. and plasticisers, anti-oxidants and surfactant antistats. The combination both cleans and takes care of the pad surfaces. The pref. solvent mixt. is based on naphtha contg. pref. an ethanol-isopropanol mixt. The ratio of anti-oxidant/ozonant to the plasticiser in solvent additive is a 1:10 while the pref. antistatic surfactants are mixts. of polyglycol esters of medium length fatty acids and sulphonated linseed oil in a ratio of 10:1 the total being used in pref. amts. of 0.4-0.6 wt.% (0.4-0.75 wt.% claimed). The plasticiser may be methylene bis-thioglycolic acid butyl ester, DBP etc.
