Die Röhren werden' nun durch siebartige Deckel e entweder an beiden Enden oder wie bei f bloß an einem Ende verschlossen. Es kann nun durch diese Röhren Luft oder Gas durch die Siebdeckel e in fein verteiltem Zustande durchgetrieben werden oder durchtreten und als Isolierschicht sich zwischen den Stoff und die obere Fläche von α oder b legen, so daß hierdurch ein Verbrennen des Stoffes vermieden wird. Zu gleichem Zwecke können die Rohrmündungen durch Kanäle i miteinander verbunden sein, so daß der Dampf überall an den Stoff hingeleitet werden kann. Die Deckel e sind so eingerichtet, daß sie leicht und bequem entfernt werden können, um entsprechend dem zu trocknenden Stoff die Platten jeweilig ändern zu können.
