The compsns. are based on low pressure olyethylene of particle size 100-1000 mu, with addition of glass fibres, pref. 10-30% w.r.t. polyethylene, peroxide, pref. 0.3-8%, and lubricant, e.g. stearic acid, paraffin wax, dyes. The additives are pref. charged directly with the polyethylene to the casting machine, without premixing. The compsns. are esp. suitable for oil-heated casting machines heated from the outside only. The polyethylene of varying particle size con be used in the polymerised form, without further grinding, and susceptibility of the cast product to stress cracking and sunlight is overcome.
