An dem Ende eines Stieles 1 ist mittels der Tülle 2 das eigentliche Gerät zum Ausgraben der Kartoffeln befestigt. Es setzt sich zusammen aus der an sich bekannten, mit Zinken versehenen Gabel 3, welche entsprechend nach hinten und nach den Seiten zu . gewölbt ist, so daß sie, von oben gesehen, einen korbähnlichen Hohlraum bildet. Diese Gabel wird in bekannter Weise beim Kartoffelausgraben in die Erde und unter die Kartoffeln heruntergestoßen. Oberhalb dieser Gabel ist ein der Form nach ähnlich gestalteter Korbrost 4 in den Scharnieren 5 drehbar angeordnet. Dieser Korbrost 4 ist ebenfalls gewölbt, und zwar sowohl nach den Seiten wie auch nach der Tiefe zu. Die Zinken der Gabel 3 und des Korbrostes 4 sind so nahe aneinander, daß die Kartoffeln nicht hindurchfallen können. Der Korbrost 4 steht unter der Einwirkung von zwei oder mehr Federn 6, die in beliebiger Weise mit demselben' verbunden werden können. Ferner ist an dem Korbrost 4 ein Zapfen oder ein kleiner Anschlag 7 vorgesehen, der von einer federnden Klinke 8 ergriffen werden kann, so daß der Korbrost 4 beim Zurückschlagen gegen den Stiel 1 in der in Fig. 1 veranschaulichten Stellung durch die Klinke festgehalten wird. Wenn man mit dem Gerät arbeitet, so stößt man die Gabel 3 in bekannter Weise erst annähernd senkrecht, dann aber mehr schräg in die Erde hinein, so daß man die Kartoffeln mit den Zinken der Gabel unterfährt. Hierbei kommt das freie, nach unten herabhängende Ende der Klinke 8 auf die Erde und wird aus der in Fig. 1 voll gezeichneten Stellung in die punktierte Lage herumgelegt. Dabei gibt die Klinke 8 den Vorsprung 7 frei, und der Korbrost 4 schlägt selbsttätig unter dem Einfluß der Federn 6 herab in die in Fig. 1 punktiert dargestellte Lage.
