The invention relates to a child seat that can be used universally.

Child seats, in particular child safety seats for attachment to a vehicle seat of a motor vehicle, are known in a wide variety of designs. Child car safety seats are also known which have a base support in which a backrest and a seat part are arranged at an adjustable angle. These seats can also be used as so-called rear-facing seats, i.e. the small child can be placed in such a seat facing the opposite direction of travel. The shoulder strap of the three-point safety belt, which reaches under the backrest and is attached to it, secures the seat. In addition, guides and/or fastening means for the lap belt of the safety belt are provided on the base support.

It is also known to design child seats as so-called baby carriers. An example here is the
DE 42 08 599 C2, EP 0 371 524 Al, DE 34 39 679 Al,
EP 0 218 444 Bl. These are portable bucket seats with side walls that are curved at the bottom to create a rocking effect. A carrying handle is pivotably attached to the side walls and can be moved into various swivel positions. To carry the baby carrier, this handle is pivoted upwards and locked in place. When using

It is also known to design a child seat as a one-piece bucket seat and to attach it to a stroller frame.

In addition, it is generally known to provide fastening devices, in particular longitudinal beams with holding devices, for stroller frames in order to be able to attach sports buggy and/or stroller attachments or inserts to them. For this purpose, the beams have vertical and/or longitudinally slotted receptacles for laterally protruding bolts on the sports buggy or stroller inserts as well as locking elements to ensure a secure hold.

Based on the prior art, the invention is based on the object of designing a child seat in such a way that it can be used universally both as a child car safety seat and as a sports car seat insert and as a stroller insert for prams.

The invention solves the problem by designing a child seat according to the technical teaching specified in claim 1.

Advantageous embodiments of the child seat according to the invention are specified in subclaims 2 to 37, the use by scale-appropriate design for dolls in claim 38.

By designing the child seat according to the invention, it can be used universally, namely on the one hand as a child safety seat for small children on a seat in a motor vehicle, both as a rear-facing seat and as a child safety seat facing the direction of travel.

The U-shaped carrier is placed on the vehicle seat - aligned in the appropriate direction - and can be secured using the vehicle seat's existing safety belts. The known harness and crotch strap systems provided on the child seat secure the toddler in this.

Due to the pivoting arrangement of both the backrest and the seat section in the U-shaped support, these parts can be adjusted in their angle of inclination so that a sitting position, a relaxed position or even a lying position can be adopted. If fastening devices for a lap belt of a three-point safety belt are attached, namely transversely to the longitudinal direction of the support on the underside of the support or on a side wall, the seat can also be set up and secured transversely as a bed in a vehicle, e.g. on the back seat.

The angle of inclination between the seat part and the backrest part can also be adjusted by means of the coupling if the seat part is pivotally connected to the backrest part at the bottom with its rear end and the backrest part is pivotably mounted on the side walls of the support about a pivot axis in the lower area. If the angle of inclination of the backrest is adjusted, a transformation of movement automatically takes place on the seat part. This is conveniently mounted via bolts in guide grooves in the side walls, so that no further securing devices are required for the seat part to hold it in the respective inclined position. The backrest is attached to the U-shaped support in the lower area or on the side walls so that it can rotate about a pivot axis, while locking means are provided at a distance from this on a circular arc for a continuous or locking fixing of the inclined positions or in the lower straight position. The locking holes can be inserted into the side walls at intervals on circular arcs, into which spring-loaded bolts protruding from the side of the backrest can be locked. These bolts can be pressed out of the locking holes into the inside of the bearings on the backrest by external pressure, thus enabling further adjustment. Locking holes and guide blocks can also be combined with one another, and bolts can also be designed as push buttons to enable easy operation.

The swivel bearings of the backrest on the side walls of the carrier can also be the bearings of a swiveling carrying handle, so that the seat can also be used as a baby carrier. This carrying handle can also be mounted separately and serve as an impact protection bar or as a safety bar. The carrying handle and the adjustment options to various swivel positions are well known.

The length of the universally applicable carrier is selected in relation to the seat part so that the seat part is set back from the front ends when it is in an upright inclined position, so that the protruding base part, limited by the side walls, forms a footrest so that a small child cannot get its feet caught between the backrest of the vehicle seat and the seat part when the seat is used as a rear-facing seat. In a further design, covers and protective hoods can also be attached so that when the child seat is used as a stroller or sports car, the feet and legs or even the chest of the small child are protected by a cover. A head protection hood can also be attached, which is also attached to the backrest part, the side walls of the

carrier or can also be attached to the foldable carrying handle.

A further advantage of the invention is that all parts are made of plastic and can be universally attached to different stroller frames. It is also possible to attach it to the crossbars of a stroller frame using appropriate slide-on and clip parts provided on the underside of the base of the U-shaped support. It is also possible to create a hollow storage space underneath the seat part and the backrest in order to be able to store items for the care of the small child. It is also possible to provide a second base in order to integrate such a compartment into the space thus created.

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the embodiments shown in the drawings.

The child seat according to the figures consists essentially of a U-shaped support 1, which has a base part 22 and side walls 2a, 2b. The two side walls 2a, 2b are essentially straight on the inside

and have no abutting edges, so that the seat part 3 and the backrest part 4, which both have side walls 23a, 23b and 11a, 11b and are each formed as a one-piece plastic molded part, for example, can be used without the inclination angle adjustment being impaired by corresponding protruding parts.

As can be seen in particular from the illustration in Figure 1, the seat part 3 and the backrest part 4 are connected to one another via a pivot bearing 28. This pivot bearing is provided at the rear end of the seat part 3 at the bottom and rear and at the lower end of the backrest part 4 at the bottom. This pivot bearing 28 also transforms the movement when the angle of inclination of the backrest part 4 is adjusted. The backrest part 4 is pivotally mounted about bearing points 12 which are provided on both sides in the side walls 2a, 2b and thus form a pivot axis. In the exemplary embodiment, the bearing point 12 is provided centrally in the bearing 18 for the carrying handle 17. The bearing cylinders of the carrying handle 17 also form the slip-on bearings for the bearing holes in the side walls 1, 1a, 1b of the backrest part 4. The carrying handle 17 has legs which are guided on both sides and on the outside of the side walls 2a, 2b and are connected to one another via a cross member 19 on the top. The bearing 18 is designed in a known manner such that the carrying handle 17 can be brought into different pivoting positions, in particular from the vertical pivoting position shown into the rear pivoting position shown in Figure 3, in which the carrying handle 17 and the cross member offer impact protection. It can also be pivoted forwards and, if the legs can be telescoped into one another, shortened so that it can also be used as a safety bar for a child resting on the upper sides of the side walls 2a, 2b. Usable locking adjustments are e.g. B. known from DE 42 08 599 C2.

The bearing point 12 and the bearings 18 should ideally be located at the centre of gravity of the overall structure in order to be able to use the child seat as a baby carrier.

In order to be able to fix the backrest part 4 in the respective inclined position, locking bolts 13 are provided. In the version in Figure 2, this is a threaded bolt onto which a clamping screw can be screwed, or a clamping screw with a threaded bolt that can be screwed into a threaded hole in the backrest part. This locking bolt 13 in Figure 1 has a section that slides as a guide section in the guide curve 15, which is attached on a radius path to the bearing point 12. A section behind it has a larger diameter and automatically locks into the openings 14 made as widening points in the guide curve 15. In Figure 1, this is the uppermost position. The locking bolt 13 is mounted against a spring in a bearing hole in a projection on the underside of the backrest part 4. Such locking bolts 13 are provided on both sides, so that by pressing on the pressure caps 16 provided on the outside of the locking bolts, the sections with the larger diameters slide out of the openings 14 and the backrest part 4 can then be guided downwards. The spring forces acting on the locking bolts 13 automatically press them into the next openings 14 in the guide curves 15. In the lower position, the backrest part is folded down and takes the essentially horizontal position shown in Figure 3, as is required when used as a stroller insert in a stroller frame. The seat part 3, which is carried along and coupled to the movement, is also adjusted in terms of its angle of inclination. For this purpose, it has lateral guide bolts 21, which can be fixed guide bolts, e.g. screw bolts that are screwed into a bearing in the underside of the seat part. These bolts

zen 21 are provided on both sides and slide in guide curves 20 which are straight and inclined, increasing from front to back, so that from the position shown, when setting a smaller angle of inclination of the backrest part, the angle of inclination of the seat part 3 relative to the floor also decreases. In the lower position, the backrest part 4 and the seat part 3 form a flat lying surface, as can be seen from Figure 3.

So that the seat can now be used as a child safety seat and also as a rear-facing seat, as can be seen from the figures, transverse guide means 6 are provided on the underside of the base part 22 in the area of the seat part 3, into which a lap belt of a three-point safety belt, e.g. of the passenger seat, is hooked in a vehicle. The seat is then in the rear-facing position. To further secure the child seat, the shoulder belt of the three-point safety belt is inserted through the transverse guide means 5 located on the back of the backrest part 4. These have corresponding insertion slots and are designed in the shape of a hook so that the safety belt section cannot slide out without being forced out. The child seat is therefore held securely in this position. In addition, the carrying handle 17 can be pivoted to the left and forms additional impact protection during normal braking and can, for example, be supported on the dashboard of a vehicle. It goes without saying that the seat part 3 and the backrest part 4, which are made of plastic, should be padded on the inside. The support can also be made of one piece of plastic. If the parts are made with thin walls, edge reinforcements should be provided, which are indicated by three lines in Figure 1.

To attach the U-shaped carrier to the stroller frame, bolts 7 and 8 are provided on the sides, which are inserted into the

Figures 2 and 3 are clearly visible. These bolts 7, 8 are provided with trigger safety devices and can be inserted into slots on the supports of the carriage frame and secured thereto in a known manner.

Instead of such fastenings, snap-on and clip fastenings can also be provided. This can be seen in Figures 2 and 3. By means of the fastening device 9a and 9b, the seat can be pushed onto a cross member of a carriage frame and can be releasably fastened to a parallel cross member by means of the fastening device 10, which is also provided and is designed as a clip holder.

From Figure 1, but also from Figures 2 and 3, it is clear that the guide pin 21 does not need to be specially fixed. When coupled via the pivot bearing 28, no additional fastening is required.

The embodiment in Figure 2 differs from that in Figure 1 in that instead of a locking bolt, a clamping screw 29 is provided for fixing in the guide curve 15. The clamping screw can be designed as a nut or as a screw. The corresponding abutment is located on a bolt or in a threaded hole on the backrest part 4.

As can also be seen from the figures, fastening points 25, e.g. snap fasteners, are provided. Instead of such snap fasteners, however, surface zipper elements or also circumferential zipper elements can be provided in order to be able to fasten a cover 24 to it using corresponding fastening means. The cover 24 is shown in Figure 3. The cover can be a plastic molded part or a textile part with reinforced edges, which have the corresponding fastening means for fastening to the fastening points 25 or by the rear

can be pressed in by attachable fastening means. The cover 24 offers the advantage that when the child seat is used as a stroller insert, a front foot section seal is also provided. The cover 24 can be guided over the entire length of the leg up to the body at approximately the height of the unwinding point between the backrest part and the seat part. In order to continue to protect the child in the lying position, a protective cover 27 is integrated, which can consist of a flexible textile or also of a movable plastic part that can be inserted under or into the cover 24 if this is made of plastic, for example.

Figures 2 and 3 also show that a head protection hood 26 can also be provided. This can consist of a molded part or can also be a collapsible hood in a known manner. The fastening is not specified in detail. The fastening can be made on the one hand on the side walls 11a and 11b of the backrest part or on these and on the side walls 2a and 2b of the U-shaped support 1. It can even be fastened to the legs of the carrying handle 17 and the cross part of the same.

The inventive teaching stated makes it possible for the first time to design a child seat in such a way that it can be used as a child safety seat, as a baby carrier and as a stroller attachment, namely a sports car attachment and also as a stroller attachment. Figure 1 also shows that the carrier can also serve as a footrest. When the seat part 3 is raised, there is sufficient distance to the front edge of the side walls 2a and 2b. This distance corresponds at least to the foot length of the small child sitting in it, so that even when used as a rear-facing seat, the feet cannot be trapped.

Claims (38)

1. Child seat having at least: - a substantially U-shaped support ( 1 ) made of side walls (2a, 2b) which are rigidly connected to one another at the bottom, - a seat part ( 3 ) and a backrest part ( 4 ) between the side walls ( 2a , 2b ), which are arranged in a movement-coupled or separately adjustable manner in terms of the angle of inclination, wherein at least the backrest can be moved from a lower, substantially horizontal position into an upright position with its upper section projecting beyond the upper sides of the side walls (2a, 2b), - guide means ( 5 , 6 ) and/or fastening means on at least the rear side of the section of the backrest ( 4 ) which projects beyond the side walls ( 2a , 2b ) in an upright position and on the lower edge regions or the connecting parts of the side walls ( 2a , 2b ) at the opposite end region of the carrier ( 1 ) for determining the course of the shoulder and/or lap belt of a vehicle safety belt, and - Fastening devices ( 7 , 8 , 9 a, 9 b, 10 ) for fixing the U-shaped support ( 1 ) to corresponding holding devices on a stroller frame. 2. Child seat according to claim 1, characterized in that at least the backrest part ( 4 ) has side walls ( 11a , 11b ) which extend in sections parallel to the inner sides of the side walls ( 2a , 2b ) of the U-shaped support ( 1 ) and form a lateral impact protection. 3. Child seat according to claim 3 or 5, characterized in that the locking bolt ( 13 ) has on the outside at the end projecting from the respective side wall ( 2a , 2b ) of the U-shaped support ( 1 ) a pressure cap whose diameter is larger than the diameter of the openings ( 14 ). 7. Child seat according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that on the outside of the side walls ( 2a , 2b ) of the U-shaped support ( 1 ) at least one side is provided an axis which runs around an axis transverse to the longitudinal axis of the U-shaped support ( 1 ), is arranged substantially in the center of gravity of the child seat and is locked at least in the vertical pivot position. 8. Child seat according to claim 7, characterized in that the bearing ( 18 ) for the carrying handle ( 17 ) simultaneously forms the bearing point ( 12 ) for the backrest ( 4 ) on the respective side walls ( 11 a, 11 b). 9. Child seat according to claim 7, characterized in that the carrying handle ( 17 ) in a horizontal pivoting position projects beyond the backrest or the front part of the U-shaped support in which the seat part ( 3 ) is located and forms an impact protection. 10. Child seat according to claim 7 or 9, characterized in that the legs of the carrying handle ( 17 ) have telescopically telescopic sections which enable a shortening or lengthening of the carrying handle ( 17 ), and that in a shortened position the latter is pivoted forwards as a protective bar and extends over the upper legs of a child sitting in the child seat. 11. Child seat according to claim 1, characterized in that the seat part ( 3 ) is pivotally attached with its rear end to the side walls ( 2a , 2b ) of the U-shaped support and can be pivoted into different positions at the front by means of an inclination angle adjustment device. 12. Child seat according to one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the seat part ( 3 ) is pivotally connected to the lower end of the backrest ( 4 ) with its rear end. 13. Child seat according to claims 1 to 6, 11 or 12, characterized in that the seat part ( 3 ) is guided at the front with lateral guide bolts ( 21 ) in guide curves ( 20 ) in the side walls ( 2a , 2b ) of the U-shaped support ( 1 ) and is or can be fixed in different positions therein. 14. Child seat according to claim 11 or 12, characterized in that on the underside of the seat part ( 3 ) a support is provided in the front area, which is pivotally articulated and engages with the underside on a cross-connecting part in the lower edge area of the side parts ( 2a , 2b ) of the U-shaped support ( 1 ) and can be brought into at least one highest and one lowest position, in which the seat surface of the seat part ( 3 ) assumes a substantially horizontal position. 15. Child seat according to claim 14, characterized in that the support is attached to the seat part ( 3 ) by means of an adjustable locking joint or the underside of the support can be releasably locked into contour-adapted locking recesses on the cross-connecting part between the two side walls ( 2a , 2b ) of the U-shaped support ( 1 ). 16. Child seat according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the connecting part between the side walls ( 2 a, 2 b) of the U-shaped support ( 1 ) is a substantially continuous base part ( 22 ). 17. Child seat according to claim 1 or 16, characterized in that below the base part ( 22 ) and at a distance therefrom a base plate connecting the side walls ( 2a , 2b ) of the U-shaped support ( 1 ) is provided and that the intermediate space is designed as a storage compartment and the insertion opening can be closed at the front and/or rear by means of a flap and that the guide means for the belts are provided on the underside of the base plate. 18. Child seat according to claim 16 or 17, characterized in that the bottom of the U-shaped support ( 1 ) is bent in the longitudinal direction and the section below the seat part ( 3 ) has a substantially straight course and serves as a support surface on a vehicle seat when used as a rear-facing seat. 19. Child seat according to claim 1, characterized in that the side walls ( 2 a, 2 b) of the U-shaped support ( 1 ) project beyond the seat part ( 3 ) at the front by the foot length of a small child at least in a raised position and that the projecting section of the base part ( 22 ) or of the connecting part between the side walls ( 2 a, 2 b) is designed as a footrest for the small child. 20. Child seat according to claim 1, characterized in that the U-shaped support ( 1 ) is made in one piece as a molded part from plastic. 21. Child seat according to claim 1, characterized in that the backrest part ( 3 ) is a molded plastic part, in particular a hard plastic part, a foamed plastic part or a blown plastic part. 22. Child seat according to claim 1, characterized in that the seat part ( 3 ) with or without side walls (23a, 23b) is a one-piece plastic molded part, in particular a hard plastic part, a foamed plastic part or a blown plastic part. 23. Child seat according to claim 1 or one of claims 20 to 22, characterized in that at least the upper edges of the parts have outwardly curved or thickened end reinforcements. 24. Child seat according to claim 1 or one of claims 20 to 23, characterized in that the inner surfaces of the backrest ( 4 ) and the seat part ( 3 ) are padded. 25. Child seat according to claim 1, characterized in that parallel rows of longitudinal openings for the pivotable mounting of a harness belt are provided in the backrest part ( 4 ) and a row of holes and/or a fastening device for a crotch strap are provided centrally on the seat part, both belt systems being connected to one another in a known manner or being connectable to secure the small child in the seat. 26. Child seat according to claim 1, characterized in that protruding locking bolts are provided as fastening device ( 7 , 8 ), which can be suspended in receptacles in holders on a stroller frame and are securely mounted therein or can be inserted into guide receptacles on supports and are securely held therein, which supports are fastened to the stroller frame. 27. Child seat according to claim 1, characterized in that as fastening device ( 9a , 9b , 10 ) on the underside of the base part, clip-on clamping devices () are provided, which can be pushed onto crossbars in the carriage frame and can be clipped or fastened thereto. 28. Child seat according to claim 1, characterized in that the heights of the floor connecting parts provided on the front side between the side walls ( 2 a, 2 b) of the U-shaped support ( 1 ) are placed in such a way that a continuous, flat lying surface is provided when the backrest part ( 4 ) and seat part ( 3 ) are folded down. 29. Child seat according to claim 1, characterized in that the guide means ( 5 ) for the transverse shoulder strap of the vehicle safety belt are positioned on the rear side of the backrest part ( 4 ) in such a way that they are not accessible between the side walls ( 2a , 2b ) of the U-shaped support ( 1 ) when the backrest part ( 4 ) is folded down. 30. Child seat according to claim 13, characterized in that the guide curves ( 20 ) are arranged substantially obliquely, rising from front to back, in the side walls ( 2a , 2b ). 31. Child seat according to claim 1, characterized in that on the side walls ( 2 a, 2 b) of the U-shaped support ( 1 ) at least in the area of the seat part, fastening points ( 25 ) for fixing a cover ( 24 ) and/or a protective hood are provided on the outside, to which the cover or protective hood made of textile or plastic material can be fastened, which cover ( 24 ) or plastic hood protectively covers at least the foot and a part of the legs of the small child. 32. Child seat according to claim 1, 7 and 9, characterized in that at least fastening points and means for fixing a head protection hood ( 26 ) are provided on the side walls ( 2a , 2b ) in the rear region and/or on the backrest part ( 4 ) and/or on the side walls ( 11a , 11b ) of the backrest part ( 4 ). 33. Child seat according to claim 1 or 32, characterized in that fastening means for fastening a transverse wall part or for the head protection hood ( 26 ) are provided in the edge region of the projecting head part of the backrest ( 4 ). 34. Child seat according to claim 32, characterized in that the hood is a folding hood or a one-piece hood made of plastic and manufactured as a molded part. 35. Child seat according to claim 1, characterized in that it has guides or fastening means arranged offset in the longitudinal direction on the underside of the base part ( 22 ) or at least on one of the side walls ( 2a , 2b ) of the carrier ( 1 ) for receiving a lap belt of a vehicle safety belt and that the child seat is fastened by means of these as a child's bed placed longitudinally on the vehicle seat. 36. Child seat according to claim 1, characterized in that the guide ( 5 , 6 ) and fastening means are arranged so that the carrier ( 1 ) with the backrest ( 4 ) and seat part ( 3 ) can also be set up as a rear-facing seat on the passenger seat or the rear seat of a motor vehicle and is held secured thereto. 37. Child seat according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that further holders for fastening attachments are provided on the outside of the side walls ( 2 a, 2 b). 38.
