Abstract

The low voltage lamp has a heating resistor (2), which heats up a Seebeck element (3) on one side. A cooling sheet (5) cools the Seebeck element on the other side. The filament (7) provided connected to the Seebeck element glows through the electric potential developed from the heat difference.

Glühlampen nach dem SeebeckeffektIncandescent lamps according to the Seebeck effect

The invention relates to an incandescent lamp, in particular a low-voltage lamp.

&iacgr;&ogr; Ausgangssituation &iacgr;&ogr; Initial situation

Incandescent lamps use the property that a highly heated filament is stimulated to glow. This can normally be done with an electric current that is fed directly to the lamp. The filament current is therefore directly dependent on the mains voltage, and voltage peaks can destroy the filament. In low-voltage lamps, the mains voltage is reduced to the desired lower voltage using an adapter circuit. This makes the filament more stable, its internal resistance is lower and the power required is reduced.

The invention is based on the object of creating an incandescent lamp of the type mentioned at the beginning, in which voltage peaks can only occur to a reduced extent as with mains voltage operated lamps and with which an adaptation circuit as with low voltage lamps can be saved. According to the invention, the stated object is achieved by the features specified in the characterizing part of claim 1. Advantageous further developments are specified in claims 2 to 5.

NeuentwicklungNew development

In short, the invention consists in operating an incandescent lamp, in particular a low-voltage lamp, for indirectly feeding its low-voltage filament from the supply network via a heating resistor with an attached Seebeck element/Peltier element.

The mains voltage in the form of direct or alternating voltage supplies a heating resistor. This heats a Seebeck/Peltier element. The heat flow through this element to the cooling plate and the outside air causes the element to generate an electrical voltage that is fed to the filament and, thanks to the load current, causes it to glow and thus light up.

In the following, the invention is explained in more detail with reference to Fig. 1 and 2 of the drawing, which show two exemplary embodiments.

Mains voltage 1 drives a current through the partially heat-insulated heating resistor 2. A Seebeck element/Peltier element 3 is arranged on the non-insulated side. The heat from the heating resistor 2 flows through this element 3 and generates an electrical voltage there, the filament 7 is the load resistance for this voltage. The load current generated causes the filament 7 to glow.
