Notebooks üblicher Art sind mit vielfältigen Funktionen ausgestattet. Im Winter ist es gefährlich für das Notebook, wenn es im Auto oder an einem kalten Ort vergessen wird. Vorteil dieser Erfindung ist die selbständige Rettungs-Aktion des Notebook wenn es der Kälte ausgesetzt wird. Ein Alarmsignal sorgt dafür, dass bei Überschreitung oder Unterschreitung einen kritischen Temperatur-Bereichs oder Grenze, der Notebook-Besitzer in Kenntnis gesetzt wird. Falls das Notebook 1 weiter der Kälte ausgesetzt ist, aktiviert sich automatisch das Heizelement 2. Es kann das Notebook warm halten solange der Akku noch ausreicht. Das Display 3 ist besonders gefährdet. Eine weitere Variante ist mit einer automatischen Anruf-Funktion, die eine vorher eingegebene Telefonnummer anwählt. Über einem Sprach-Chip oder Tonsignal wird der Angerufene darauf hingewiesen, dass sein Notebook der Kälte ausgesetzt worden ist. Es reicht manchmal, dass das Notebook in einer kalten Umgebung nur einige Grad über die Umgebungstemperatur erwärmt wird, um die sensiblen Teile, wie das Display / Bildschirm zu retten. Das Heiz-Element kann ein Halbleiter (sog. Peltier-Elemente) sein, dessen Flächen abhängig von der Strom-Polarität an seinem Anschluss, kalt-warm oder umgekehrt werden. Die Stromumkehr ist Temperatur-Sensor-Gesteuert.
