Renovation attachment

The invention relates to an element suitable for the renovation of seats, couches, walls or floors in need of overhaul.

Seats and loungers that are made at least partially of plastic, especially acrylic, as well as walls or floors made of plastic in bathing and wellness areas become increasingly unsightly with use and maintenance. In steam baths and showers in particular, the plastic surfaces are exposed to high levels of stress due to the high humidity and the alternating wetting and drying. Added to this is the stress caused by body sweat, cosmetics and germs.

To avoid any health risks for users, aggressive chemicals are used for regular cleaning of the facilities. The daily use of water and chemical cleaning agents leads to high levels of wear, especially in public pools. The plastic surfaces develop cracks and scratches, and the previously smooth surfaces become dull.

Operators and users of such facilities are increasingly turning to ceramic building materials, such as ceramic tiles, as these are considered timeless and durable. However, a complete renovation of the facilities is very expensive and in many cases not even necessary, as only the appearance has suffered.

The task therefore arises of developing a technical solution that makes it possible to cost-effectively renew surfaces of seats, loungers, walls or floors, especially those made of plastic, that are in need of renovation and, if desired, to also cover them with ceramic tiles.

Ceramic tiles can be laid directly on existing seating or lying areas with a plastic surface. However, this requires reactive adhesives and/or adhesive promoters because the substrate is not adhesive. Work regulations and health concerns therefore limit direct laying. The existing curves also make laying tiles more difficult.

The above-mentioned object is achieved by a renovation attachment according to the invention for seats, loungers, walls or floors with a plastic surface in need of overhaul, in particular one that is constantly wetted, in that the renovation attachment consists of at least one shaped rigid foam sandwich element, the middle layer of which is made of rigid foam and in which at least one outer layer is present, which consists of a reinforced mortar layer which is covered with a further covering layer.

can be bound, whereby the inside of the renovation attachment is adapted to the contour of the plastic surface of the seat, lounger, wall or floor to be renovated, can be placed on top and can be adhesively attached. Preferably there is a flush surface between the renovation element and the element to be renovated.

The renovation attachment for seats or loungers preferably consists of several connected or joinable rigid foam sandwich elements that are easy to process and install.

The inside of the rigid foam sandwich element that comes into contact with the plastic surface in need of repair is preferably also provided with a reinforced mortar layer.

Hard foam sandwich elements as construction elements are known per se. A manufacturing process is described in DE 109 22 259 A1, to which reference is made in full here.

The rigid foam sandwich element can also be covered at least partially on its outer layer with ceramic covering elements, in particular mosaic tiles, so that only finishing work has to be carried out on site.

The rigid foam sandwich element can have a plastic layer suitable for seating integrated with the mortar layer or applied to it on its outside, or a layer of wood-based material, so that an additional tiling can be dispensed with.

The thickness of the sandwich elements can be between 10 and 50 mm. It is selected depending on the plastic construction and the available space.

The rigid foam sandwich element advantageously has different profile thicknesses across its entire surface to suit a new seating or lying surface, so that contours can be ergonomically redesigned and adapted to the tiled surface.

The rigid foam panels can also advantageously be equipped with a heating system, whereby either pipes or heating wires are incorporated into the rigid foam panels.

In Fig.l a seat 10 of a steam bath is shown with a mounted renovation attachment 100. The seat 10 originally had a plastic surface 30 (not shown) that was in great need of refurbishment. The surface was dull, covered with scratches and cracks; the color had faded unevenly.

plastic surface 30 and the design of a new shape for the applied top layer 53.

The renovation attachment 100 covering the seat consists of several rigid foam sandwich elements 50.1...50.8, the middle layers 51.1...51.8 of which are made of rigid polystyrene foam. The middle layers 51.1...51.8 are coated on their outer sides with a mortar layer 52.1...52.8 reinforced with glass fiber fabric. The inner sides 54.1...54.8 of the renovation attachment are adapted to the contour of the plastic surface 30 of the respective installation location, so that the renovation attachment 100 rests completely on the plastic surface 30. The attachment is carried out by gluing in individual, localized areas ("lumps ¹ "), in which an epoxy resin adhesive connects the attachment to the surface.

Mosaic tiles 53 are glued onto the mortar layer 55.1...55.8.

A renovation attachment 100 consisting of several hard foam sandwich elements offers the advantage that the simply designed elements 50.1...50.8 are easy and inexpensive to manufacture. On the other hand, the renovation attachment 100 consisting of several elements 50.1...50.8 is easy to assemble because the elements are handy and can be adjusted if necessary.

Fig. 2 shows a second embodiment of the renovation attachment 100, in which a plastic layer 60 suitable for seating is applied to the outer reinforced mortar layer 52 or integrated into the mortar layer 55. The renovation attachment 100 consists of a

Fig. 3 shows a variant of the first embodiment of the renovation attachment 100 as a third embodiment. In this renovation attachment, the middle layer 51 is provided with an inner side 54, which is equipped with a mortar layer 55. The connection between the inner side and the surface to be renovated is made by solvent-free multi-component adhesives.

Claims (7)

1. Renovation attachment (100) for seats (10), loungers (20), walls or floors with a plastic surface (30) in need of renovation, in particular one that is constantly wetted, which consists of at least one shaped rigid foam sandwich element (50), the middle layer (51) of which is formed from a rigid foam and in which at least one outer layer (52) is present which consists of a reinforced mortar layer which can be connected to a further cover layer (53), wherein the inner side (54) of the renovation attachment (100) is adapted to the contour of the plastic surface (30) of the seat (10), the lounger (20), the wall or the floor to be renovated, can be placed on top and can be adhesively fastened. 2. Renovation attachment according to claim 1, characterized in that the renovation attachment (100) intended for an element such as a seat (10) or lounger (20) consists of several rigid foam sandwich elements (50.1...50.8) which are connected or to be joined. 3. Renovation attachment according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the inner side (54) of the rigid foam sandwich element (50) which comes into contact with the plastic surface (30) in need of repair is also provided with a reinforced mortar layer (55). 4. Renovation attachment according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the rigid foam sandwich element (50) is at least partially covered on its outer layer (52) with ceramic covering elements (53), in particular mosaic tiles. 5. Renovation attachment according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the rigid foam sandwich element (50) carries on its outer side a plastic layer (60) suitable for seating integrated with the mortar layer (52) or applied thereto, or a layer of wood material. 6. Renovation attachment according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the thickness of the sandwich elements (50.1. . .50.8) is between 10 and 50 mm. 7. Renovation attachment according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the rigid foam sandwich elements (50.1. . .50.8) have different profile thicknesses over their entire surface, corresponding to a new sitting or lying surface.
