Abstract

A heat source (2) inside a casing (1) is combined with heat exchanger elements (3) for converting the generated heat and/or heat supplied externally. The heat source and heat exchanger elements are connected in series to a thermally insulated water storage tank (7) provided with a heater (6) and cold and hot water connections (4, 5). Three hydraulic circuits (I, II) which can operated together, in pairs or individually are formed by connecting the heat exchanger elements and the cold or hot water side of the water storage tank, which includes a safety overflow, in series with hydraulic lines (8, 8). A pump-operated supply line (9) for the heat source is linked to a connection (15) for a three-way valve (10) used to select how many hydraulic circuits are to be operated at once. The two other valve connections (11, 12) are linked to the water storage tank or its heater and the heat exchanger elements.

The innovation concerns a compact heating device, particularly for so-called low-energy houses, consisting of a heat generator arranged in a housing, of heat exchange elements for the conversion of generated and/or externally supplied heat, whereby the heat generator and the heat exchange elements are connected to a domestic hot water storage tank equipped with KW/WW connections and a heater, thermally insulated and equipped with a safety overflow, and a heat exchanger intended for heat recovery from the exhaust air is provided with a condensate drain line equipped with a siphon.

Da der Wärmerückgewinnungs-WT abluftzufuhrseitig offen mit denCompact heating devices of this type, which work with heat recovery from the exhaust air, are the subject of the unpublished patent application 101 42 779.4. Due to the heat exchange between the exhaust air to be discharged from the rooms to be heated with warm air and the fresh air supplied, condensate forms on the exhaust air side of the heat exchanger in question, which is discharged into the sewer system via a siphon. During periods of more or less high outside temperatures, however, no condensate forms, which, as has been observed, sooner or later leads to the siphon drying out, whereby the odour seal of the siphon is no longer guaranteed. Since the heat recovery heat exchanger is open on the exhaust air supply side with the

rooms from which the exhaust air must be removed, this means that in periods when no room heating with warm air is required, duct odors
via condensate pipe, heat exchanger and exhaust air supply opening in the rooms.

The present innovation is therefore based on the task of
to remedy this situation in the simplest way possible.

According to the innovation, this problem is solved simply by arranging the pipe leading from the safety overflow of the domestic water tank on the inlet side in front of the siphon and opening into the condensate drain pipe.

A second solution, which is somewhat more complex but can still be considered, is to ensure that the exhaust air supply opening on the heat recovery heat exchanger or at a suitable point on the exhaust air supply is sealed to prevent odors.

The compact heater equipped with these features is explained in more detail below using drawings of exemplary embodiments.

-3--3-

The compact heating device for warm air heating of a low-energy house consists of a heat generator 2 (here an exhaust air heat pump) arranged in a housing 1, of various heat exchange elements 3 for the conversion of heat generated and/or supplied from the outside, whereby the heat generator 2 and the heat exchange elements 3 are connected to a domestic hot water storage tank 7 provided with KW/WW connections 4, 5 and heater 6, thermally insulated and equipped with a safety overflow 8. A heat exchanger 9 intended for heat recovery from the exhaust air is provided with a condensate drain line 11 equipped with a siphon 10 at the bottom.

With regard to the siphon 10 and the condensate drain line 11, which is only indicated by a dot-dash line, reference is made to Fig. 2, which also contains the preferred first solution, namely that the line 8' leading from the safety overflow 8 of the domestic water tank 7 is arranged on the inlet side in front of the siphon 10 and flows into the condensate drain line 11. Since domestic water is always required and a certain amount of overflow always occurs when the domestic water is heated in the tank 7, the siphon 10 remains constantly full and thus an odor escape via the siphon and condensate drain line 11 is prevented during periods of non-heating.

A detailed explanation of the circuitry according to Fig. 2 or the function of the compact device is unnecessary, since only the problem of odor suppression is to be discussed here. Apart from the reference symbols of interest here, reference is made to the labels.

Bezgl. der zweiten Lösung wird auf Fig.l und Fig.3 verwiesen, wobei in Fig.l auf die Abluftanschlußöffnung 12 zu verweisenRegarding the second solution, reference is made to Fig.l and Fig.3, whereby reference is made in Fig.l to the exhaust air connection opening 12.

Der in Fig.3 nur schematisch angedeutete Schieber 13 befindet sich üb::igens in Schließstellung.is to which all exhaust air ducts (not shown here) of all rooms in a house or apartment that are to be ventilated lead. For example, a slider 13 or a flap (not shown) is arranged at this opening 12, as shown schematically in Fig. 3, with which this opening 12 can be closed off odor-tight. The slider 13 or a preferred flap can be operated using suitable, sensor-controlled actuating means if necessary. The slider 13, which is only shown schematically in Fig. 3, is in the closed position.

Regardless of whether the opening 12 is closed with a slide or a flap, the effort involved in this regard, especially since suitable sealing means must be provided on these elements or on the opening 12 itself, is greater than that used to ensure constant watering of the siphon 10 according to the first solution.
