Door stop.

The invention belongs to the devices for locking doors in the selected open state and can also be used for locking windows.

The design of doors made of plastic or aluminum profiles, which are used everywhere, provides for their opening with a small angle in the upper part, which is often not enough (5"). Fixing in the open position is not provided.

The "Door stop 711 Fa Bever since 1809" - article 160088 is well known, which contains the housing and the rod with the spring for supporting it in the floor as well as the bar for fixing the rod.

The device is fixed to the door using screws. This is why this device is not suitable for doors made of plastic or aluminum profiles.

In addition, removable devices for fixing windows and doors are known, which are attached between the frame (the threshold) and the pivoting frame of the window or door by enclosing the frame or the threshold and the frame, e.g.:

The above-mentioned devices allow the window or door to be fixed in the open position by pulling the claw onto the profiles of the frame or the window or door. However, they are quite inconvenient to use, as they require squatting, which is particularly difficult for elderly and physically disabled people.

i"In addition, the pulling of the claw onto the threshold when the door is open is very difficult. The presence of gaps, which are unavoidable for pulling the claws of the device onto the corresponding profiles, leads to play in the open door and, consequently, to inaccuracy and susceptibility to failure of the locking mechanism.

Wedge stoppers such as "Door stop Fa CIME" article 21248.1, which are inserted into the gap between the floor and the lower edge of the door, are inconvenient to use and cover a relatively limited range of the gap size between the floor and the door. Driving in the wedge can damage the floor covering as well as the edge of the door.

Another well-known door stopper offered by Brigitte- Geschenke GmbH in 2001 is item no. 996881-8014, which is a heavy disc with a 45" rubber ring. This is placed on the floor and is intended to act as a support or holder for the open door. This stopper only holds the door in place through the frictional force in contact with the floor and only from one side, which is an uncomfortable and also unsafe solution.

The lack of a suitable locking device for plastic and aluminium doors means that chairs and other objects have to be used for this purpose, which causes some inconvenience and can cause the window pane to break in strong draughts.

The object of the invention is to provide an autonomous door stop which is easy to use and which ensures secure locking of doors of different dimensions 25in the presence of a wide gap between the floor and the door and which does not require screws or contact with the door threshold.

The object is achieved in that the door stop according to the invention contains a housing which consists of a support base and a column, for example in

whose cavity contains a slider with a spring; this slider is provided with a support for interaction with the door and the pedal for lowering the support; the directional surfaces of the slider-column contact start at the bottom on the same level, but are of different lengths, which prevents wedging when the

S" support with the door and the unhindered movement of the slider downwards when the pedal is pressed; the support base of the housing is provided with pads, e.g. made of rubber, for contact with the floor; the pads are located on both sides of the support; the door stop is placed on the floor according to the position of the open door with the possibility of interaction of the support with the lower edge of the door; the

■iO housing also serves as a "limiter" of the rotation when opening the door and as a handle for easier installation and adjustment of the door stop.

The invention is explained using illustrated and described embodiments. They show:

According to the invention, the door stop contains the housing 1, which is composed of the support base la, the column Ib and the handle Ic. In the cavity of the column Ib is the

^Sliding piece 2 with the engagement flank clearance G, the (sliding piece) with the carrier 2a, the pedal 2b

and the eye 2c. The projection 2d is located on the support 2a, the distance of the projection from the column 1b corresponding to the thickness E of the edge 3a of the door 3.

The slider 2 is positioned with the possibility of interaction with the housing 1 by means of the spring 4; the spring 4 is mounted by means of the eye 2c and the hook Id.

The directional contact surfaces of the slider 2 start at the bottom on the same plane, with the length C of the contact surface on the support side 2a being shorter than the length D of the contact surface on the pedal side 2b. This allows the unhindered movement of the slider 2 downwards when the pedal 2b is operated, as well as wedging when it interacts with the door 3 under the action of the spring 4 in the presence of a gap.

In its initial position, the slider 2 rests on the pedal 2b on the surface Ie of the column Ib. The opening If is present in the housing 1 for the convenience of mounting the spring 4.

The lower surface of the support base la is provided with pads 5 made of a soft and elastic material with a high coefficient of friction when in contact with the ground, for example rubber, 2.0 .

A variant of the sliding piece construction with the adjustable position of the attachment 2d on the carrier 2a by means of a holder is also possible,

which, for example, has the form of a bracket 6 provided with lugs 6a, the lugs of which interact with the canonical depressions 2e.

^Another possible design variant of the door stop is for the larger clearance between the floor and the door (Fi>F); for this purpose a bracket 7 with the attachment 7a is attached to the support 2a.

In addition, a design variant of the door stop with the placement of the 'SO sliding piece 2' outside the column Ib' is possible (Fig.7).

The door stop works as follows:

If it is necessary to fix the door in a selected open position, the door stop is placed on the floor using the handle Ic and the support 2a is lowered using the pedal 2b until the door 3 can pass over the projection 2d. Then the door is rotated 5~ until it comes into contact with the column Ib and the pedal is released.

The slide 2 moves upwards under the action of the spring 4 until the support 2a strikes the lower edge 3a of the door 3. The force exerted by the spring 4 forms the moment of rotation of the slide 2 in a clockwise direction. The angle of rotation is determined by the engagement flank clearance G and the ratio of the sizes C and H, which ensures the wedging of the slide 2 in the cavity of the housing 1.

Thus, the edge 3a of the door 3 is enclosed by the surfaces of the column la, the support 2a and the extension 2d in contact with it.

The spring 4 ensures that the door stop is pressed against the floor with such a force that is necessary and sufficient to ensure the required friction in the contact of the supports 5 with the floor.

When attempting to turn the door 3 to the left or right, ζ B at the entrance, the corresponding moment Mi or M2 is generated, which act along radii Ri or R2 respectively. Each of these moments is directed towards the rotation of the door stop in the vertical plane, which is prevented by the counteraction of the wedged slide 2.

If you wish to remove the door stop, press the pedal 2b from above. Due to the size ratio of the directional surfaces D>C, the wedging of the slider is removed and the slider moves freely downwards, which allows the door to be turned back.

The door stop according to the invention enables a convenient, precise and safe fixation of doors of different types, _including the fastening of the doors to the plastic and

Aluminium profiles, regardless of the type dimensions and the distance between the floor and the door.

The specific force of the support foot's action on the floor covering is limited by the force of the spring's expansion. This eliminates the risk of damage to the floor covering or the door edge.

The invention can also be used to fix windows; the door stop is placed on the window sill.

Claims (5)

1. Door stop which can be placed on the floor when required, characterized in that it comprises a column ( 1b ) with the support foot ( 1a ); the spring-loaded slider ( 2 ) is coupled to the column ( 1b ) with an engagement flank play (G); the slider ( 2 ) is provided with the pedal ( 2b ) and a support ( 2a ) with the attachment ( 2d ), which ( 2a and 2d ) are in contact with the lower part of the door ( 3 ); the support ( 2a ) and the pedal ( 2b ) are located on the opposite sides of the vertical axis-secant plane which is parallel to the door plane and in the slots of the column ( 1b ); the directional surfaces of the slider ( 2 ) coupled to the column ( 1b ) start on one plane, the length of the surface on the support side being shorter than that on the pedal side (C < D), which ensures the wedging of the slider under the action of the spring ( 4 ) during the interaction between the support and the door and, on the other hand, ensures free movement downwards when the pedal ( 2b ) is operated from above; on the lower plane of the support base ( 1a ), on both sides of the plane of the door ( 3 ) in contact with the column, there are supports ( 5 ) made of a soft and elastic material with a high coefficient of friction in contact with the floor. 2. Door stop according to claim 1, characterized in that the surfaces of the column 1 b, the support 2 a and the projection 2 d are placed with the possibility of interaction with the lower part of the door ( 3 ). 3. Door stop according to claim 2, characterized in that a bracket ( 6 ) with the projection ( 2d ) is mounted on the support ( 2a ), the distance between the projection ( 2d ) and the column ( 1b ) being regulated by a holder, which represents, for example, the projections ( 6a ) located on the inside of the bracket ( 6 ), which are designed with the possibility of interaction with the depressions ( 2e ) on the support ( 2a ). 4. Door stop according to claims 1 and 3, characterized in that it is provided with an additional bracket ( 7 ) located on the support ( 2a ) together with the attachment ( 7a ) for the fixing of doors which have a greater distance from the floor. 5. Door stop according to claim 1, characterized in that it is provided with a handle ( 1c ) for ease of installation, which is located on the upper part of the column ( 1b ).
