Description: RUNNING SHOE

The invention relates to running shoes for sporting and orthopaedic purposes (A 43 B 13/18, A 43 B 7/32, A 43 B 5/06).

For sporting and orthopedic purposes, a soft and optimal rolling motion is pleasant. This is achieved by making the sole elastic and having a curved sole shape in its rolling direction.

The following application is relevant for understanding the invention.

DE 4319 650

This design was invented by me and registered on June 14, 1993. The patent was granted on July 2, 1998. Figure 11 shows a longitudinal section of DE 4319 650. This running shoe has an elastic sole, as is usual in sports shoes. This sole is curved along its length to achieve optimal rolling. There is a patented stiffener in the lower edge area of the sole. This allows the desired sole curvature to be maintained during walking without significantly limiting the sole's cushioning properties. The curvature has its thickest point almost perpendicular to the ankle joint and runs lengthwise along the sole of the shoe.

The execution of this construction has the following deficiencies and this is where the new invention differs.

The radius of curvature between the heel and the ball of the foot corresponds mainly to the height of the knee joint. This radius of curvature is too small for walking or running, so that the tendons and ligaments are stretched to an extreme extent when rolling.

The thickest part, which is almost perpendicular to the ankle, is too high, making rolling unstable and increasing the risk of injury.

The sickle-shaped design of the stiffening, on the foot side, is uncomfortable when rolling over because pressure points are created at the end points.

The new invention eliminates these deficiencies and also improves the running feel. The designs, details, solution to these problems and the features of the new invention are listed in the description of the figures, drawings and in the claims. These individual designs can be combined with each other.

The longitudinal section of Figure 1 shows the running shoe (1), the heel area (2), the stiffener (3), the ankle joint (4), the arch of the foot (5), the ball area (6), an elastic joint (7), the overlapping curvature (9) of the running surface and the depression (10) of the stiffener and the running surface to the sole radius (R).

The radius (R) of the stiffening corresponds between the heel and the ball of the foot, in the area (B) to (I), mainly to the height of the hip joint and is continuous. In the heel area, area (C) to (A), and in the ball of the foot, area (G) to (M), the radius (R) gradually becomes smaller and adjusted. This supports a relieving rotation around the hip joint. This sole curvature (R) is much more comfortable to wear than that of DE 4319 650.

Due to the larger radius compared to DE 4319 650, the sole is overall much flatter, so that the risk of injury, for example from twisting an ankle, can be reduced.

The stiffener is flat on the upper side or anatomically shaped as in Figure 4 (11), so that hardly any pressure points are created.

To prevent pressure points in the arch area, the reinforcement is recessed on the lower side (10). These recesses (10) can run diagonally to the rolling direction and still allow an overlap (9) of the sole curvature when rolling. Figure 5 shows a top view of Figure 1. 5

The stiffener (3) is dimensionally stable and flexible. It can move with the sole material, while retaining its basic shape. It is made of a harder material than the sole material itself, for example plastic.

The longitudinal section in Figure 2 also shows a division (8) of the stiffener (3). This improves the elasticity of the sole as a whole. This division can run diagonally to the rolling direction and enables an overlap (9) of the sole curvature (R) when rolling.

The longitudinal section of Figure 3 shows the stiffener (3) continuously between heel and ball of the foot, in the area (B) to (I), mainly at the hip joint level.

The longitudinal section of Figure 4 shows a division (8) of the stiffener (3) and a recess (10) on the outsole side and an anatomically shaped stiffener (11) on the upper side in the arch area (5).

Figure 5 corresponds to a top view of Figure 1 and shows the recess (10) on the stiffener (3), which runs obliquely to the rolling direction and enables an overlap (9) of the sole curvature in the rolling direction.

Figure 6 corresponds to a top view of Figure 2 and shows the division (8) on the stiffener (3) and illustrates the overlap (9) of the sole curvature in the rolling direction.

Figure 7 corresponds to a top view of Figure 1 and shows a depression (10) on the outside of the foot and a continuous curvature on the inside of the foot.

Figure 8 also corresponds to a top view of Figure 1 and shows a depression (10) between the heel and the ball of the foot, in the area (D) to (G). Due to the organic shape of the depression edge, the non-overlapping of the sole curvature can be kept to a minimum.

Figure 9 corresponds to a top view of Figure 3 and shows a continuous stiffener (3).

Figure 10 corresponds to a top view of Figure 4 and shows the division (8) and a depression (10) on the stiffener (3). Due to the slanted or organic course of the division and the depression, the non-overlapping of the sole curvature can be kept small. Here at approx. 1/12 of the shoe length in area (F).

For comparison, Figure 11 shows a longitudinal section of the prior art, DE 4319 650, with the defects already described.

All sole materials and sole constructions can be used for stiffening (3). These include air cushions, air chambers, gel cushions, cell constructions, torsion elements and pronation constructions. In the case of multi-part stiffening, these individual stiffening parts can be connected to one another using torsion, tension and compression constructions.

The features can be combined with each other to create further designs.

Claims (5)

1. Running shoe made of elastic sole material ( 1 ), depending on the design incorporated with air cushions, liquid, gel, cells, torsion elements, provided with elastic joints ( 7 ) and stiffeners ( 3 ) provided in the lower, i.e. along the edge area (R) on the outsole side, to maintain the sole curvature during walking without significantly restricting the elastic flexibility, with a thickest point approximately perpendicular to the ankle joint ( 4 ) and a continuous sole curvature (R) in its rolling direction, characterized in that the radius (R) of the stiffener ( 3 ) and the sole curvature (R), mainly between the heel (B) and the ball of the foot (I), corresponds to the hip joint height and the stiffener ( 3 ) on the upper side is flat or anatomically shaped ( 11 ) and the stiffener ( 3 ) is dimensionally stable and flexible. 2. Running shoe according to claim 1, characterized in that recesses ( 10 ) are formed on the stiffener ( 3 ) to prevent pressure points. 3. Running shoe according to claim 1 and 2, characterized in that recesses ( 10 ) on the stiffener ( 3 ) are set obliquely to the rolling direction and thus nevertheless allow an overlap ( 9 ) of the sole curvature (R) in the rolling direction. 4. Running shoe according to claim 1 to 3, characterized in that depressions ( 10 ) are formed on the stiffener ( 3 ) on the outside of the foot to prevent pressure points and the stiffener on the inside of the foot can remain curved throughout and counteracts pronation. 5. Running shoe according to claim 1 to 4, characterized in that the stiffener ( 3 ) is at least two-part and the division ( 8 ) can run obliquely to the rolling direction and thereby enables an overlap ( 9 ) of the sole curvature during rolling.
