Separation system for paint particles in the exhaust air of paint booths

The invention relates to a separation system for paint particles in the exhaust air of paint booths with dry separation, comprising

a driveable floor construction in the paint booth with at least one floor opening closed with a flush-mounted grating, - exhaust air ducts connected to the floor opening(s) below floor level, which are connected at their other end to at least one exhauster as an extraction drive,

and paint particle separation media installed in the air path between the floor opening and the exhaustor. 20

It is known to arrange paint separating mats beneath the gratings of the aforementioned floor openings, which are changed after a saturation of about 6 kg/m ^2. Such paint separating mats are used to separate the overspray in painting systems, particularly in the relatively inexpensive dry separation process.

To do this, the gratings must be removed, the paint separating mats replaced and new ones inserted.

The task is to provide a solution so that downtime for the paint booths can be significantly reduced, in particular by eliminating the need to lift out and reinsert the gratings.

The solution to this problem is made possible by a separation system of the type mentioned above, in which the exhaust air duct or the exhaust air ducts, before being connected to the exhaustor, open into an accessible filter chamber installed immediately in front of the exhaustor, in which stiffened, replaceable filter cassettes are installed as paint particle separation media.

The term "accessible" means that people can enter the filter room, but that no heavy gratings need to be lifted or moved to allow access.

In order to be able to manage with one filter room for a larger paint booth, preferably if there are several exhaust air ducts, these should be combined into a main line before entering the filter room.

It is also advantageous if the sensitive painting room does not have to be entered at all to change the paint particle separation media, i.e. the filter room and the exhauster are arranged outside the accessible floor area of the painting booth.

The filter cassettes can be designed as relatively inexpensive elements, for example as flat plate elements. These filter cassettes can be arranged in the filter chamber in multiple W-arrangements in a vertical position.

This makes it possible to install a filter chamber in the floor immediately in front of the exhauster in the machine room, which can be easily accessed from above, and the paint separator mats, which have a format of 100 x 750 x 1200 mm, for example, can be replaced without having to lift up the gratings. The gratings can therefore remain in the floor area without having to be removed and re-covered, which is time-consuming.

However, since the extraction ducts have to be cleaned at certain intervals, for example to remove paint waste that has fallen off the workers' shoes, it is proposed to only provide the gratings with access openings so that a cleaning person can get in without having to lift the entire grating.

Finally, the utility model relates to a filter cassette for installation in a filter room, whereby a fixed frame is selected which has a front and a rear

kengitter, whereby a filter mat can be inserted between the latter. The filter mat can usually be removed. It is disposed of, for example by incineration. A new filter mat can then be inserted into the frame with front and back grilles outside the work area.

The degree of saturation of the filter mats can be determined, for example, using a differential pressure system. There are various monitoring systems that are well known from filter technology.

The overspray that results from painting, i.e. paint particles that have not been applied to the surface of the object to be coated, must be separated very carefully before the exhaust air is discharged into the atmosphere. Paint dust particle emissions of 3 mg/m ³ of exhaust air are still permissible.

The paint separation system used in the present embodiment is based on filter mat cassettes'11 arranged in a W shape and vertically in the filter chamber 10. Suitable filter mat materials include, for example, cellulose material or plastic fleece material and the like.

The filter mats are reinforced by a cassette arrangement and are not arranged below the gratings, but in a vertical arrangement so that they can be removed from the filter chamber individually or as a whole after removing a light cover 16 made of checkered sheet metal. Preferably, these are individual filter mat cassettes. However, it is also possible to make filter mat cassettes replaceable in pairs or as a set.

The filter room 10 is located outside the floor construction 1 and below the level of the floor construction. It is preferably accessible from above. However, it is possible to create a side access opening. Since the filter room is located outside the mobile areas, no heavy grating covers that can only be moved with cranes are required.

As can be seen from Figure 1, the gratings in the area of the floor construction are provided with access openings 2 0 in order to be able to clean the air ducts 4 and 5 from time to time. The replacement of the filter elements, on the other hand, no longer takes several hours or a whole shift, but can be done in just a few minutes if the exhausters are switched off for a short time.

Figure 2 shows a pair of filter cassettes which are welded together at their lateral vertex. A metal frame 30 is provided to which pull-out or fold-down front and back grilles 32 are attached. A filter mat made of a known filter material is held between these.

After the filter mat has been subjected to maximum load, it can be removed from the frame and burned.

A further advantage is that the filter mat is no longer burdened by coarse dirt from the workers' shoes, but that this coarse dirt, which is practically not carried away by the exhaust air flow, remains in the pit belonging to the exhaust air openings and can be removed from time to time with the help of a vacuum cleaner, whereby only one person can enter through the access opening 20.

As a result, significantly fewer mats are used. Only a small amount of hazardous waste needs to be disposed of and the paint booth does not need to be accessed by cranes. According to the applicant's experience, the time saved per replacement of the filter mats is between 2 and 24 hours.

Claims (7)

1. Separation system for paint particles in the exhaust air of paint booths with dry separation, comprising - a driveable floor construction ( 1 ) in the painting booth with at least one floor opening ( 2.1 ; 2.2 ) which is closed with a flush-mounted grating ( 3 ), - exhaust air ducts ( 4 ) connected to the floor opening(s) below the level of the floor, which are connected at their other end to at least one exhaustor ( 6 ) as an extraction drive, - and paint particle separation media installed in the air path between the floor opening and the exhaust gate, characterized in that the exhaust air duct ( 4 ) or the exhaust air ducts, before being connected to the exhaustor ( 6.1 ; 6.2 ), open into an accessible filter chamber ( 10 ) installed immediately in front of the exhaustor, into which stiffened, replaceable filter cassettes ( 20 ) are installed as paint particle separation media. 2. Separation system according to claim 1, characterized in that if there are several exhaust air ducts ( 4 ), these are combined to form a main line ( 5 ) before entering the filter chamber. 3. Separation system according to claim 1, characterized in that the filter chamber ( 10 ) and the exhaustor ( 6.1 ; 6.2 ) are arranged outside the accessible floor area ( 9 ) of the painting booth. 4. Separation system according to claim 1, characterized in that the filter cassettes ( 20 ) are designed as flat plate elements. 5. Separation system according to claim 1 and 4, characterized in that the filter cassettes ( 20 ) in the filter chamber ( 10 ) are arranged in a multiple W arrangement in a vertical position. 6. Separation system according to claim 1, characterized in that the gratings ( 3 ) are provided with access openings ( 2 ) to cover the floor openings ( 2.1 ; 2.2 ). 7. Filter cassette for installation in a filter chamber according to claim 1 and optionally further subclaims, characterized by a frame and a front and rear grille ( 32 ), with a filter mat ( 21 ) inserted between the latter.
