Der Top für Schirme ,insbesondere für Taschenschirme ,besteht aus zwei Teilen,wie in beiliegender Zeichnung Hg.a dargestellt,dem äusseren Mantel (1) und dem der Befestigung dienenden Einsatz (2) ,der zu diesem Zweck mit einem Innengewinde versehen ist ($), das auf den Gewindezapfen (4-) des Schirmstockes bezw.der Schirmkrone passt. Zunächst müssen für die Umstellung sehr umfangreiche und Kosten verursachende Aenderungen und Werkzeuganfertigungen durchgeführt werden. Dann ist der Abstand zwischen der Schirmkrone und dem Top nach dem Einrasten unveränderlichjSodaS $e nach der Stärke des Schirmstoffes mit der daraufliegenden Schutzrosette ein schädlicher Druck auf den sehr empfindlichen Schirmstoff ausgeübt wird,oder dieser einen nicht genügend festen Sitz hat und sich leicht verschiebt und verdreht, ferner bedarf es eines besonders geformten und nicht billigen Hebels (sogenannter Topschlüssel),wenn ein beschädigter Klemm-Top abgenommen und durch einen neuen ersetzt werden soll. Solche Topschlüssel müssen überall dort vorhanden sein,wo überhaupt mit Schirmen gehandelt wird und Reparaturen ausgeführt werden,also bis herunter in die kleinsten Tferkaufsläden« Welch ein ungeheuerlicher und völlig unnützer Kostenaufwand für die gesamte Schirmbranche ,der durch keinen Torteil und durch keine Verbesserung gerechtfertigt ist. Hinzu kommt aber auch noch,daß die Schirmfabriken mit dem gesamten Schirmhandel vor die Kotwendigkeit einer doppelten Lagerhaltung gestellt sind,weil für Reparaturen sowohl die Tops zum Aufschrauben und die Klemmtops verfügbar gehalten werden müssen.Recently, so-called clamping tops have also been used, in which the inserts are not equipped with a thread, but are provided with a cap or bead that ends all around.
