Vorliegende Erfindung bezweckt, Holz durch Imprägniren mit einem Gemisch von Creosot und anderen Körpern derart zu präpariren, dafs es gegen die Einwirkungen von Organismen widerstandsfähig gemacht und eine Zerstörung durch Fäulnifs möglichst verhindert wird.The present invention aims to impregnate wood with a mixture of Creosot and to prepare other bodies in such a way as to protect them against the effects of organisms made resistant and a destruction by putrefaction is prevented as far as possible.

Das Verfahren besteht zunächst darin, dafs das Holz einer Temperatur von ioo° C. und darüber ohne Druckwirkung ausgesetzt und dadurch getrocknet wird. Nachdem das Holz dieser Behandlung 1 bis 5 Stunden lang ausgesetzt wurde, wobei die Dauer derselben von der Gröfse und Beschaffenheit des Baumstammes abhängig ist, wird die Temperatur von 100 auf 260⁰ C. erhöht unter gleichzeitiger Anwendung eines Luftdruckes von 7 bis 14 Atmosphären, welcher hinreicht, um einen Verlust an flüchtigen, aus dem Holz entweichenden Substanzen infolge Verdampfung zu verhindern. Hierdurch werden im Holze diejenigen fäulnifsverhindernden Stoffe zurückbehalten, welche durch Einwirkung der Wärme auf die Säfte des Holzes gebildet werden. Das Resultat dieser Behandlung besteht darin, das Holz vollständig keimfrei zu machen, die eiweifshaltigen Stoffe des Splintes gerinnen zu lassen, das Harz zu diffundiren und das Holz des Baumstammes zu härten, wobei gleichzeitig das Holz eine solche Eigenschaft erhält, dafs es . die fäulnifsverhindernde Flüssigkeit leicht absorbirt, mit welcher das Holz im weiteren Verlauf imprägnirt wird.
