Behufs praktischer Anwendung der Vorrichtung legt man das zu entgratende Blei in die Nuth η des Lagers /, dessen Stellung man so regelt, dafs der Grat über die Kanten der Klappen pp¹ hinausragt, worauf er mit einer einzigen Handlung, sei es mittels Zieheisen mit der Hand, sei es auf maschinellem Wege, entfernt werden kann. Sobald auf der einen Seite die glatte Fläche hergestellt ist, wird das Blei umgewendet und derselbe Vorgang wiederholt sich auf der entgegengesetzten Seite. Die Beseitigung des an den Schlicfsfliichcn der Giefsfoimen sich bildenden Grates wird bis jetzt noch immer auf die ursprünglichste Weise ausgeführt, indem man den Grat mittels eines Messers einfach abkratzt.
