Das Trennwerkzeug besteht aus dem Schaft 1 mit einer zweizinkigen Gabel, wobei die Zinke 2 länger als die Zinke 4 ist. Zwischen den Zinken 2 und 4 befindet sich das Messer mit der Schneide 5. Die kürzere Zinke 4 ragt mit ihrer Kante 4 α in Schnittrichtung etwa lmm über die Messerschneide 5 hinaus. Am Ende eines Trennvorganges stützt sich die Zinke 4 mit ihrer stumpfen Unterkante 4 α gegen die Riegel 9, 9 des Knopfloches und verhindert dadurch deren Beschädigung bzw. auch das Einschneiden des Stoffes.
