Ein Theil der die Wärme des Kühlraumes aufnehmenden, durch Oeffnungen ν in einen Kanal 0 eintretenden Luft gelangt durch Kanäle χ und y unter die Roste ^ der Herde und der übrige Theil dieser Luft strömt durch einen Kanal z, Leitungen g, Oeffnungen h, die Wände e und Oeffnungen f in die Feuerkammern. Die Durchströmung durch die Ka-. näle y und i wird durch Schieber s und k geregelt. Man verringert hierdurch den infolge des Zuges in dem Ofenkanal herrschenden Minderdruck und erzeugt hinter dem Kanal t einen geringen Minderdruck, welcher den durch den Zug an dieser Stelle hervorgebrachten beinahe ausgleicht.
