Das Verfahren nach der Erfindung besteht darin, daß zwischen zwei axial ausgerichtete Zigaretten ein Filterstab von doppelter Filterpfropfenlänge des fertigen Filterrezeßmundstückes derart abgelegt wird, daß an seinen beiden Enden zwischen dem Stab und den Enden der Zigaretten je eine Lücke von der Länge des Rezesses entsteht, danach die Zigaretten mit dem Filterstab in an sich bekannter Weise mittels eines Verbindungsblättchens miteinander verbunden werden, die so gebildete Gruppe in der Mitte des Filterstabes durchgeschnitten wird und die so entstandenen beiden Filterpfropfen nach erfolgtem Auseinanderschieben der mit den Mundstücken versehenen Ziga retten in ihren Umhüllungsröhrchen um den Betrag der Lücke aus dem Umhüllungsröhrchen heraus bis an das zugehörige Zigarettenende angrenzend verschoben werden. Es zeigt im einzelnen Abb. 1 einen Teil der Filterzigarette in größerem Maßstab, Abb. 2 zwei Zigaretten mit dem mit Abständen da zwischen liegenden Filterstab, Abb. 3 zwei Zigaretten mit dem dazwischen liegenden Filterstab durch ein Verbindungsblättchen verbunden und geteilt, Abb. 4 die Gruppe nach Abb. 3 auseinandergeschoben und Abb. 5 die Zigarette nach Abb. 4 mit eingeschobenem an die zugehörigen Zigaretten herangeschobeneni Filterpfropfen. Aus Abb. 1 sind die zwei Übergänge V1 und C2 deutlich erkennbar. Die Zigarette 1 ist durch das Verbindungsblättchen 2a mit dem aus dem Umhüllungsröhrchen 3 herausgeschobenen Filterpfropfen 7 verbunden, wobei sich der Filterpfropfen 7 auf seinem Teil 7 a um den Betrag der Materialstärke des Röhrchens 3 ausgedehnt hat und an dem Verbindungsblättchen Za haftet.
