Durch diese Maßnahme wird eine Korrosion des Lagerkörpers verhindert und damit sichergestellt, dass keine Korrosionsprodukte zwischen die Lagerbuchse und die Wischerwelle gelangen und das Wischerwellenlager zerstören. Der Einsatz einer Kunststoffbuchse als Korrosionsschutzmaßnahme ist technologisch kostengünstig. Es hat sich gezeigt, dass weitere Dichtungsmittel, wie O-Ringe, eine Vollfettfüllung des Ringspaltes und eine Abdeckkappe im Bereich des wischerarmseitigen Austritts der Wischerwelle aus dem Lagerkörper entfallen können.
