Die Karteikarten sind hierbei in einem seitlichen Abstand voneinander gestaffelt, welcher dem Abstand der jeweiligen; Bestandszahl von der sichtbaren Seitenkante auf der vorhergehenden Karteikarte entspricht, die auf der Maßeinteilung gekennzeichnet ist. Die Richtigkeit der auf der Maßeinteilung der Leitkarten abzulesenden Summen. aller Bestandszahlen einer Kartengruppe hängt von der Genauigkeit der gestaffelten Abstände der Karteikarten untereinander ab. Der jeweilige Staffelabstand muß nämlich sehr genau der Kennzeichnung .der Bestandszahl auf -der Maßeinteilung jeder einzelnen Karteikarte entsprechen, weil sich sonst ungenaue Summenwerte ergeben. Bei den bisher bekanntgewordenen Karteien mit gruppenweise seitlich gestaffelten Karteikarten wird der Staffelabstand zwischen den Karteikarten dadurch gesichert, daß am Boden eines Karteikastens Führungen durch Leisten, Stangen usw. gebildet werden, in welche an (lern Fußrand der Karteikarten befindliche Vorsprünge eingreifen, wodurch die Karteikarten am Kastenboden einen sie gegen ein seitliches Verschieben schützenden Halt finden.. Dadurch ist aber die kleinste Einheit der Maßeinteilung auf den Karteikarten und Leitkarten an dem jeweiligen Abstand der Führungen gebunden, die nur eine; verhältnismäßig grobe Maßeinteilung zulassen.
