Die vorliegende Erfindung beruht auf dem allgemeinen Gedanken, zur Verbindung von zumindest zwei unterschiedlichen Werkstücken eine loch- und gewindeformende Schraube einzusetzen, die zunächst mit ihrer nagelförmigen Spitze in das erste Werkstück eingeschlagen wird und zwar bis zu einem Gewindeanfang der Schraube und anschließend mit ihrem schneidenden Gewinde spanlos in die beiden Werkstücke eingedreht wird. Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren nützt somit Synergieeffekte aus den Verfahren des Bolzensetzens und der Direktverschraubung. Bei diesem Verfahren wird in den miteinander zu verbindenden Werkstücken ein Durchgangsloch durch das Eintreiben der nagelförmigen Spitze realisiert, woraufhin anschließend in diesem Durchgangsloch spanlos ein Muttergewinde gefurcht wird. Dies erfolgt üblicherweise mit den beiden ersten Gewindegängen des Gewindes der loch- und gewindeformenden Schraube, wobei der Gewindedurchmesser selbstverständlich größer ist als ein maximaler Durchmesser der nagelförmigen Spitze. Das Gewinde kann darüber hinaus als metrisches Gewinde ausgebildet sein und dadurch eine vergleichsweise einfache Demontage der Verbindung im Reparaturfall ermöglichen. Mit dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren ist insbesondere das Verbinden, das heißt das Fügen, von artverschiedenen Werkstoffen (Mischbauweisen) problemlos möglich, wobei eine einseitige Zugänglichkeit zur Fügestelle ausreichend ist. Durch das Einschlagen der Schraube mit ihrer nagelförmigen Spitze zumindest in das erste Werkstück entfällt zudem ein Vorbohren bzw. Vorlochen, wodurch der Fertigungsprozess der Verbindung wirtschaftlicher und insbesondere mit kürzeren Taktzeiten möglich ist. Von besonderem Vorteil ist ebenfalls, dass eine bisher erforderliche Lochfindung entfällt, wodurch einzuhaltende Toleranzen ebenfalls wegfallen. Mit dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren lassen sich darüber hinaus auch hochfeste Stahlwerkstoffe prozesssicher fügen, wobei eine Qualitätsüberwachung beispielsweise durch die Drehmoment-Wegüberwachung bzw. die Drehzahl-Wegüberwachung erfolgen kann.The present invention is based on the general idea to use at least two different workpieces a hole- and thread-forming screw, which is first taken with its nail-shaped tip in the first workpiece and that to a thread start of the screw and then with their cutting thread is screwed without cutting into the two workpieces.
