During the welding process, the rounded sonotrode 2 is pressed onto the upper film 4 , which is welded to the lower film 3 with the simultaneous action of ultrasound. The energy source that melts the film materials is designated 9. This creates a flow of molten material 5 away from the sonotrode. This river creates a bulge 6 due to the formation of jams. This bead changes the outer contour of the film by forming an elevation. This bead is undesirable for some applications.
Erfindungsgemäß ist die in Fig. 2 dargestellte Sonotrode 2 mit einer zentrischen erhabenen Kontur 7 versehen, die umgeben von einer ebenen Kontur 8 ist. Mit der Verdrängung der Schmelze wird gleichzeitig auf der Oberfläche der Siegelfolien befindlicher Schmutz bzw. Elektrolyt verdrängt. Die verdrängte Schmelze 5 bildet beidseitig neben dem Energieherd 9 Dichtkeile aus, so dass keine verschmutzte Oberfläche als Trennschicht bestehen bleibt, da der Schmutz mit der Schmelze durchgemischt wird. Die ebenen Seitenflächen 8 neben der runden Erhöhung 7 der Sonotrode 2 ebnen den Dichtkeil ein damit kein überstehender Wulst entsteht. Es ist auch möglich, die aus Erhöhung 7 und ebener Fläche 8 bestehende Kontur auf dem Amboss 1 anzubringen und eine ebene Sonotrode 2 vorzusehen.
