Abstract

1.- Se describen compuestos de Fórmulas (la) y (Ic) que tienen una estructura lactona y un grupo metileno en laposición alfa de la estructura lactona y métodos para usar y elaborarlos. Los compuestos de lactona pueden hacerse reaccionar con un agente nucleofílico para abrir el anillo lactona a un compuesto de Fórmula (lb). La lactona de Fórmula (la) y sus derivados funcionales se han aislado deSecuridaca virgata. Los compuestos purificados han demostrado actividad en ensayos para actividades anti-bacteriana y anti-fúngica, y para tratar trastornos de proliferación tales como el cáncer.
