All other embodiments, which can be derived by a person skilled in the art from the embodiments given herein without making any creative effort, shall fall within the protection scope of the present application.
For the sake of accuracy of the full-text representation, all the references relating to the directions are made with reference to fig. 1, and the direction of the X-axis is defined as the left-right direction; the direction of the Y axis is defined as the up-down direction, and the direction of the Z axis is defined as the front-back direction (i.e. the plugging direction of the mating connector), wherein the forward direction of the Z axis is the back direction.
Please refer to fig. 1 to 5, which illustrate a USB socket connector disclosed in the present application, including a terminal module 1 and a metal shell 2 engaged with the terminal module 1. In the present application, the metal shell 2 is preferably formed by a drawing process of a metal plate, or the metal shell 2 is further formed by a drawing process of a metal pipe body.
The terminal module 1 includes an insulating body 11 and a plurality of terminals 12 fixed to the insulating body 11. The insulating body 11 is made of an insulating plastic material by injection molding, and includes a base 111, a tongue base 112 extending forward from the base 111, and a tongue end 113 extending further forward from the tongue base 112. Each of the terminals 12 includes a contact portion 121 at least partially exposed on the surface of the tongue end portion 113, a fixing portion 122 formed to extend rearward from the contact portion 121 and fixed in the tongue root portion 112 and the base portion 111, and a mating pin 123 extending rearward from the fixing portion 122 and out of the base portion 111. A plurality of the terminals 12 are arranged into an upper row terminal group in which the contact portion 121 of each terminal 12 is exposed from the upper surface of the tongue end 123 and a lower row terminal group in which the contact portion 121 of each terminal 12 is exposed from the lower surface of the tongue end 123. The contact portion 121 is used for electrically contacting with a docking connector, and the docking pin 123 is used for electrically connecting with a docking circuit board. In the present application, the USB socket connector is a non-Pin-full USB-Type-C socket connector, that is, the number of terminals is less than 24, but the number of terminals 12 is not limited to the present application.
Referring to fig. 3, further, the USB socket connector of the present application further includes two middle plates 6, and the two middle plates 6 are respectively located on two sides of the tongue plate 112 along the left-right direction. Each middle plate 6 protrudes out of the side of the tongue 112 in the left-right direction, and is used for being electrically connected with a butting connector and being buckled.
Referring to fig. 1 to 5, the metal shell 2 includes an outer sleeve portion 21 opened forward, a tongue protection portion 22 located inside the outer sleeve portion 21 and corresponding to and surrounding the outer periphery of the tongue base portion 112, and a connecting portion 23 integrally connecting the outer sleeve portion 21 and the tongue protection portion 22 at the rear end edge thereof. The tongue end 123 protrudes forward of the tongue protector 22 in a cantilever manner, and the front end surface of the base 111 is correspondingly attached to the rear surface 231 of the connecting portion 23.
Specifically, in the embodiment of the present application, the tongue portion protection portion 22 is tubular with two open ends along the plugging direction of the mating connector. The outer sleeve portion 21, tongue protection portion 22, tongue end portion 123 and connecting portion 23 define an annular docking cavity 10 that is open forward. When the mating connector is inserted into the mating cavity 10, the front surface 232 of the connecting portion 23 forms a stop surface for stopping the excessive insertion of the mating connector.
Furthermore, limiting ribs 1121 are formed by protruding two end surfaces of the tongue root 112 along the width direction, the limiting ribs 1121 extend along the plugging and unplugging direction of the butting connector, recessed grooves 221 are correspondingly formed on the inner wall surfaces of two ends of the tongue protection portion 22 along the width direction, and the limiting ribs 1121 are correspondingly inserted and limited in the recessed grooves 221 for realizing the positioning when the terminal module 1 and the metal shell 2 are assembled.
In the present application, the USB receptacle connector further includes a metal cover 3 formed by stamping and bending a metal plate, and the metal cover 3 includes a coupling plate 31 covering the upper surface of the outer sleeve portion 21 and an anti-back plate 32 formed by bending and extending the coupling plate 31 further backward. The combination plate 31 and the outer sleeve part 21 are fixed by welding, and the anti-back plate 32 is correspondingly limited and abutted against the rear surface 1111 of the base part 111. For preventing the terminal module 1 from being separated rearward and withdrawn from the metal shell 2. Furthermore, the two ends of the anti-receding board 32 along the arrangement direction of the terminals 12 are respectively bent and extended to form fixing pins 321, and the fixing pins 321 are correspondingly fixed with the butt circuit board. Fixing pieces 311 are respectively formed by extending two ends of the combination board 31 along the arrangement direction of the terminals 12, and the fixing pieces 311 are correspondingly fixed with the butt circuit board. In the present application, it is preferable that the withdrawal prevention plate 32 extends over the entire length of the rear surface 1111 of the base 111 in the terminal arrangement direction, so as to obtain a better effect of preventing the terminal module 1 from being withdrawn backward from the metal shell 2.
In this application, metal casing 2 is whole to be formed by drawing processing, and no concatenation seam is gone up to metal casing 2. The tongue root 112 is completely covered by the integrally formed tongue protection part 22, so that the tongue end part 113 and the tongue root 112 can be stably fixed and are resistant to plugging; the base 111 is designed to be closely attached to the rear of the metal shell 2, so that the whole USB socket connector can be designed to be extremely short. The integral metal shell 2 has good structural strength. When the mating connector is inserted into the mating cavity 10, the insertion impact force of the mating connector is mainly counteracted by the front surface of the connecting portion 23, and the impact and damage to the terminal module 1 are small. In addition, the metal outer cover 3 is arranged, so that the USB socket connector is assembled on the butt joint circuit board more firmly, and meanwhile, a good anti-retreating effect is achieved on the terminal module 1. The anti-back plate 32 fully utilizes the space above the mating pins 123 of the terminals 12 and does not affect the overall length of the USB receptacle connector. This design USB socket connector can design 6 millimeters's extremely short length under the prerequisite of the butt connector (USB-Type-C plug connector) of matching standard length. Of course, in the application, the joint position of the terminal module 1 and the metal shell 2 can be further reinforced by applying glue.
Although embodiments of the present application have been shown and described, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that changes, modifications, substitutions and alterations can be made in these embodiments without departing from the principles and spirit of the application, the scope of which is defined in the appended claims and their equivalents.
