Description
Technical Field
Embodiments of the present invention relate to a socket, and more particularly, to a socket having a shutter for protecting a jack.
Background
A socket is a commonly used electrical connection device for electrically connecting an electrical/electronic device to a power source or a signal source/signal receiving terminal by inserting a plug of the electrical/electronic device into a jack in the socket.
The jacks on a conventional jack are exposed to the outside, which is potentially dangerous because a user may accidentally insert foreign objects into the exposed jacks without any obstruction, resulting in electrical shock, short circuits, and the like. Especially, the infant may stick his fingers into the exposed insertion holes for curiosity, which may cause accidents such as electric shock. The bare socket also makes it easy for dust or foreign matter to accumulate therein, resulting in blockage of the socket or poor conductive contact.
There is currently a socket with a shutter. A protective door is provided in the insertion hole of the socket. The protective door closes the jack when the socket is not in use, to avoid the above-mentioned danger; when the plug is inserted into the jack, the plug pushes the inclined surface of the protection door facing the plug, the inclined surface converts the insertion action of the plug, which is perpendicular to the socket panel, into the movement of the protection door, which is parallel to the direction of the socket panel, so that the protection door moves towards the side of the jack to open the jack, and the plug can be inserted into the deep part of the jack. However, such sockets still have disadvantages. Because the side of the protective door moving piece facing the plug is an inclined plane, the concave pit which is inwards concave is still formed at the jack when the protective door moving piece is observed from the outside, and the appearance is not beautiful. More seriously, the recess is prone to dust accumulation (especially in the large quantities that fall into it during fitting) and this dust is very difficult to clean out completely, making the recess more aesthetically unpleasing and potentially leading to difficulties in inserting the plug into the jack by pushing the protective door open.
It is therefore desirable to provide a socket which not only avoids the above-mentioned hazards, but also has a more aesthetically pleasing appearance and reliable performance.

Detailed Description
Various embodiments of the present invention will now be described in detail by way of example only.
Fig. 1 shows a cross-sectional view of a socket according to an embodiment of the invention. In this embodiment, the socket of the present invention is described by taking a wall socket as an example. As shown in fig. 1, the socket includes a housing integrally formed by a base 1 and a cover 2. On the base 1, a conductive connecting piece 11 is mounted, and on the cover 2, two receptacles 21, 21' for two pins 10 of a plug are provided. Each conductive connecting piece 11 corresponds to the position of the corresponding socket 21,21 ', respectively, so that when the pins 10, 10' of the plug are inserted from the sockets 21, each pin of the plug can contact with the corresponding conductive connecting piece 11 to realize electrical connection.
Two separate shutter moving parts 3 and 4 are provided in the housing of the socket, i.e. in the space enclosed by the cover 2 and the base 1, for the two insertion openings 21, 21', respectively. As shown in fig. 2-3, protective door runners 3 and 4 may have similar or identical structures. Protective door movers 3 and 4 have a first end and a second end, with protective doors 33,43 on the first end. The shape of the protective doors 33,43 substantially matches the shape of the receptacles 21,21 ' so as to be positioned at the receptacles 21,21 ' to close the receptacles, but with a suitable clearance from the receptacles 21,21 '. First protective door guide structures 34,44 are also provided on the first ends of the protective door leaves 3 and 4, and second protective door guide structures 35,45 are also provided on the second ends of the protective door leaves 3 and 4. First protective door guide structures 34,44 are disposed on either side of a first end of protective door runners 3 and 4, and second protective door guide structures 35,45 are disposed on either side of a second end of protective door runners 3 and 4 for sliding engagement with seat guide structures disposed on the seat to guide movement of protective door runners 3 and 4 along a defined path.
In the embodiment shown in fig. 2-4, first protective door hinge 3 and second protective door hinge 4 have substantially the same shape and have a slot between their first and second ends, but differ in that slot 46 in second protective door hinge 4 is wider than slot 36 in first protective door hinge 3, such that first protective door hinge 3 can extend into slot 46 in second protective door hinge 4. But the width of the slot 36 in the first protective door mover 3 near the second end allows at least the plug pin 10 of the plug to extend into it. As shown in fig. 4, first protective door runner 3 extends into slot 46 in second protective door runner 4 and is disposed symmetrically across second protective door runner 4 within the housing.
In the embodiment shown in fig. 2-4, first protective door guide structure 34,44 and second protective door guide structure 35,45 are guide projections extending from the sides of protective door runners 3,4 to engage guide slots provided on the seat body. Any other guide structure may be provided for the sliding engagement of the first protective door guide structure 34,44 and the second protective door guide structure 35,45 with the housing guide structure. For example, one or both of the first protective door guide structure 34,44 and the second protective door guide structure 35,45 may be provided as guide grooves, while the holder body guide structure is provided as guide ribs that slidably engage the guide grooves and define a path of movement for the first protective door guide structure 34,44 and the second protective door guide structure 35, 45.
When the closed receptacle of the protective door 33,43 is placed horizontally facing upwards, the first protective door guide 34,44 is located at a higher level than the second protective door guide 35,45 in order to guide the movement of the protective door runner 3,4 along a defined trajectory for opening the shielding of the receptacle by the protective door, as will be described in detail later.
To facilitate the installation of the seat guide structure in the seat, as shown in fig. 5, an installation groove 14 may be formed in the seat at a side close to the cover plate 2. The mounting groove 14 communicates with a space for disposing the conductive connection piece 11. A pair of inclined guide surfaces 12 and a horizontal guide surface 13 are provided at the bottom of the mounting groove 14. An insert block 5 (see fig. 6) may be inserted into the mounting groove 14. A guide slope 51 and a step surface 52 are provided on the inner side of the insert 5. When the insert 5 is inserted into the mounting groove 14, the inclined guide surface 12 on the mounting groove 14 will cooperate with the guide inclined surface 51 on the insert 5 to form the inclined guide groove 22 for sliding engagement with the first protective door guide structure 34,44, while the horizontal guide surface 13 on the mounting groove 14 will cooperate with the stepped surface 52 on the insert 5 to form the horizontal guide groove 23 for sliding engagement with the second protective door guide structure 35,45, as shown in fig. 7. In this case, the receptacles 21, 21' would be located on the insert 5. The provision of the insert 5 separate from the housing facilitates the mounting of the insert 5 to form a complete guide groove after the protective door leaves 3,4 have been easily placed in the mounting groove 14. Of course, the guide groove may be formed directly in the housing without providing the separate insert block 5.
The inclined guide groove 22 is inclined at a non-right angle to the axial direction of the jacks and extends obliquely toward the centers of the two jacks along the direction of movement of the plug pins of the plug into the jacks, so that when the plug pins are inserted into the jacks, the first protective door guide structures 34,44 of the first ends of the protective door structures are driven by the plug pins to slide toward the depths of the jacks and toward the centers of the two jacks. The horizontal guide groove 23 is perpendicular to the axial direction of the insertion holes and extends in a direction parallel to a line connecting the centers of the two insertion holes 21, 21' so that when the first protective door guide 34,44 of the first end of the latch driving protective door structure slides linearly along the inclined guide groove 22, the horizontal guide groove 23 will guide the second protective door guide 35,45 of the second end of the protective door structure to slide linearly along the horizontal guide groove 23. In this way, when the plug is inserted into the plug hole, the two shutter moving structures 3,4 for the two plug holes respectively can move towards each other, and since the first shutter guiding structure 34,44 and the second shutter guiding structure 35,45 are at different levels and have different movement trajectories, the shutter moving structures 3,4 also become gradually "laid down" while moving towards each other, i.e. a certain rotation occurs such that the first ends thereof gradually decrease in height. In this way, the two shutter runners 3,4 can move simultaneously without interfering with each other and cause the shutters 33 and 43 thereon to move both in the direction of insertion along the axial direction of the insertion hole and towards the centre of the two insertion holes, thus being offset from the insertion holes 21, 21' so that the latch can continue deep inside the insertion holes.
Since the outer wall of the cover plate 2 or the insert 5 of the housing has a certain thickness, the insertion hole formed thereon has a certain depth (e.g., several millimeters). If a cover 6 for decorative effect is also provided on the housing (on which a cover hole is also formed in alignment with the receptacle on the housing, see fig. 1), the overall depth of the receptacle and cover hole will be greater. It is desirable to have the protective doors 33,43 of protective door hinges 3,4 extend into the interior of the receptacle even with the top of protective doors 33,43 (i.e., the face facing the outside of the receptacle) flush with the outermost edge of the face cover aperture (e.g., the outer surface of face cover 6) to obtain a substantially flat outer receptacle surface. In this case, in order to enable the protective doors 33,43 to exit the narrow jack smoothly first when the plug is inserted into the jack, it is necessary to move the protective doors 33,43 in the jack substantially only along the axial direction of the jack and substantially not or with a small magnitude in other directions (in particular, in a direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the jack). To this end, the housing guide structure may be a first shutter guide structure 34,44 that protects the first end of the shutter moving structure 3,4, providing a guide only along the axial direction of the jack when the plug is just inserted into the jack. For example, as shown in fig. 7, an axial guide groove having one end substantially in the axial direction of the jack is connected to the upper end of the inclined guide groove 22 closer to the outside of the jack, and communicates with the inclined guide groove 22. Thus, when the plug is just inserted into the jack, the first protective door guide structure 34,44 of the first end of the protective door moving structure 3,4 can only move substantially axially along the jack to smoothly exit the narrow jack.
Spring mounting posts 37, 47 are also provided at the first ends of the protective door runners 3,4 and inside the slots 36, 46, and spring support posts 12 are provided in the housing. A return spring 7 is arranged between the spring mounting leg 37, 47 and the spring support leg 12 of each shutter hinge 3,4, respectively, in order to force the shutter hinge 3,4 to move in the opposite direction along a defined path by the return force of the return spring 7 after the plug pin of the plug has exited the receptacle 21,21 'in order to again close the corresponding receptacle 21, 21'. Advantageously, the spring mounting posts 37, 47 are arranged substantially along the extension direction of the inclined guide groove 22, and the spring support post 12 is also provided with an inclined end surface substantially perpendicular to the extension direction of the inclined guide groove 22, so that the return spring 7 is fixed to extend substantially along the extension direction of the inclined guide groove 22. The return spring 7 thus provided facilitates the provision of a restoring force to the protective door leaves 3,4 along the extension direction of the inclined guide groove 22, so that the protective door leaves 3,4 move smoothly along the trajectory defined by the inclined guide groove 22 to the position closing the insertion hole.
As shown in fig. 8a-8b, when the plug pins 10,10 'of the plug are not yet inserted into the receptacles or just contact the shutter surfaces in the receptacles, the shutter runners 3,4 are guided by the housing guide structure only by the restoring force of the return spring 7 so that the shutters 33,43 at their first ends are in a position closest to the outside of the receptacles 21, 21', e.g. in a position projecting into the receptacles and substantially flush with the outer surface of the panel 2 or the cover 6, to close the receptacles. At this time, the first protective door guide structure 34,44 located at the first end of the protective door mover 3,4 is located at its uppermost position in the axial direction of the insertion hole (the direction in which the plug pin of the plug is inserted into the insertion hole is defined as the top-to-bottom direction) with a certain clearance from the guide slope 51 on the insertion block 5, and the second protective door guide structure 35,45 located at the second end of the protective door mover 3,4 is located at its position closest to the middle of the two insertion holes 21, 21'.
As shown in fig. 9a-9b, when the plug pins 10,10 'of the plug are slightly inserted into the insertion holes 21, 21', since the protection doors 33,43 are restrained in the narrow insertion holes formed on the panel 2 or the panel cover 6, the first ends of the protection doors 33,43 and the protection door movers 3,4 can only be pushed by the plug pins 10,10 'to overcome the force of the return spring 7 and move downward only along the axial direction of the insertion holes until the first protection door guide structures 34,44 start to contact the guide slopes 51 on the insertion block 5, so that the protection doors 33,43 are substantially withdrawn from the narrow insertion holes 21, 21' into the inner space of the more spacious housing. During movement, the second protective door guide 35,45 remains substantially stationary or moves slightly away from the center of the two receptacles. The overall movement of the protective doors 33,43 is therefore more like a pivoting movement of the protective doors 33,43 about the second protective door guide 35,45, so that a slight pivoting inclination with respect to the axial direction of the jack may occur during the withdrawal of the protective doors 33,43 from the jack. Since the clearance between the first protective door guide structure 34,44 and the guide ramp 51 is small, which only allows the protective door to move to a depth (a few millimeters) just out of the receptacle, the amount of pivotal tilt generated by the protective door during this small stroke is small. The fit clearance between the protective doors 33,43 and the receptacles 21, 21' is sufficient to allow the protective doors to make this small tilt in the receptacles without the protective doors getting caught in the receptacles.
As shown in fig. 10a-10b, as the pins 10,10 'of the plug are further inserted into the receptacles 21, 21', the first protective door guide 34,44 will start to move down and towards the center of both receptacles along the inclined trajectory defined by the guide ramps 51 without being constrained by the receptacles. At this time, since the first protective door guide structures 34,44 and the first ends of the protective door runners 3,4 have significant travel, the second protective door guide structures 35,45 that protect the second ends of the door runners 3,4 will also be pushed to move along the horizontal guide slots 23 in a direction away from the centers of the two insertion holes. At this time, since the first and second shutter guide structures 34,44 and 35,45 are guided along different seat body guide structures, the movement trajectories thereof are different, wherein the first shutter guide structure 34,44 has a significant movement component in the axial direction of the jack and a movement component in the axial direction perpendicular to the jack, and the second shutter guide structure 35,45 has a larger movement component perpendicular to the axial direction of the jack than the first shutter guide structure 34,44, and almost no movement component in the axial direction of the jack. Due to the different movement paths of the two ends of the protective door leaves 3,4, the protective door leaves 3,4 actually perform a compound movement including a translational movement and a rotational movement, so that the protective door leaves 3,4 gradually "lie flat" so that the protective doors 33,43 also follow a movement component toward the center of the two insertion holes, i.e., the two protective doors 33,43 move toward each other to stagger the two insertion holes 21, 21'.
As shown in fig. 11a-11b, after the plugs 10,10 ' of the plug are further inserted into the receptacles 21,21 ' such that the protective doors 33,43 are completely offset from the two receptacles 21,21 ', the two protective doors 33,43 will be closer to each other and a portion of the slot 46 in the second protective door mover 4 will be exposed between the protective door 33 of the first protective door mover 3 and the second protective door guide structure 45 at the second end of the second protective door mover 4; similarly, a portion of slot 36 in first protective door mover 3 is exposed between protective door 43 of second protective door mover 4 and second protective door guide structure 35 at the second end of first protective door mover 3. At this point, the pins 10, 10' of the plug can pass through the two slots 46, 36 respectively and pass through the door leaves 3,4 from the outside of the first ends of the door leaves 3,4 corresponding to the receptacles into which the respective pins are inserted until the pins are fully inserted into the housing and electrically contact the conductive connecting strip 11 respectively.
During the process of pulling the plug pin of the plug out of the receptacle, the return spring 7 will push the shutter runners 3,4 in the same inclined direction as the guide ramp 51, following the same trajectory as the previous movement of the plug pin during insertion, but in the opposite direction, so that the shutters 33,43 return again to the position closing the receptacles 21, 21'.
The utility model discloses a shutter moving part 3,4 in the socket are owing to have guide structure respectively at first end and second end to make this first shutter guide structure and second shutter guide structure have different movement tracks, therefore when shutter moving part 3,4 were moved by the bolt drive, can carry out the translation and rotate synthetic combined motion. In this way, the two shutter moving parts 3,4 can move smoothly without interfering with each other to open the insertion hole, and at the same time, the entire shutter moving parts 3,4 occupy little space in the axial direction of the insertion hole, because the second shutter guide structure moves substantially in the axial direction perpendicular to the insertion hole, and the final position to which the first shutter guide structure moves in the axial direction of the insertion hole does not exceed the position of the second shutter guide structure in the axial direction of the insertion hole. The two shutter leaves 3,4 are thus offset from the insertion opening in a "lying-flat" manner, rather than being moved axially downward in their entirety, which prevents them from taking up more of the limited axial space in the seat of the socket during movement, so that the socket can be designed to be thinner. In addition, this also allows the movement of the shutter runners 3,4 to be carried out without preventing the smooth contact of the pins of the plug with the conductive connection 11 in the housing.
In order to achieve the above-described "lying" composite movement of the protective door leaves 3,4, the first protective door guide 34,44 does not necessarily have to move along the inclined straight path defined by the guide ramp 51 in the above-described embodiment, but can be guided along various paths, for example along an arc-shaped path or other curved paths, as long as it is ensured that the movement of the first protective door guide has both a component directed axially downward along the plug socket and a component directed toward the center of the two plug sockets and perpendicular to the axial direction of the plug socket. The second protective door guide 35,45 does not have to move along the straight path strictly perpendicular to the axial direction of the jack as described in the above embodiments, but may have a slight movement component in the axial direction of the jack. As long as it is ensured that the axial movement component of the first protective door guide 34,44 along the plug hole is greater than the axial movement component of the second protective door guide 35,45 along the plug hole, and the axial movement component of the first protective door guide 34,44 along the direction perpendicular to the plug hole is less than the axial movement component of the second protective door guide 35,45 along the direction perpendicular to the plug hole, the "lying-flat" combined movement of the protective door moving parts 3,4 can be realized, so that the staggering from the plug hole can be realized under the condition that the overall movement along the plug hole axial direction is hardly or slightly. Based on this principle, the seat body guide structures for the first protective door guide structures 34,44 and the second protective door guide structures 35,45, respectively, can be designed in a coordinated manner so that the movement trajectories of the two structures meet the above requirements.
As shown in fig. 2-4, in one embodiment, a locking projection 38, 48 is provided on the second end of each protective door mover 3,4, respectively. The locking projections 38, 48 project toward the same side as the protection doors 33, 43. Thus, when the two door leaves 3,4 are arranged crosswise, the locking projection 38, 48 of each door leaf 3,4 is located below the door 43, 33 at the first end of the other door leaf 4, 3. As shown in fig. 12, when only one plug pin 10 of the plug is inserted into one of the two insertion holes 21, the protection door mover 4 corresponding to the insertion hole into which the plug pin is not inserted does not move because it is not subjected to the action of the plug pin, and thus the locking protrusion 48 of the second end of the protection door mover 4 remains below the protection door 33 of the protection door mover 3. At this time, after the protective door 33 of the protective door mover 3 is moved under the guide of the guide slope 51 to be displaced in the axial direction of the insertion hole and to contact the locking protrusion 48 located therebelow, the protective door 33 cannot move further along the guide slope 51 to such an extent as to open the insertion hole 21 due to the blocking of the locking protrusion 48. Therefore, the single plug pin 10 cannot be continuously inserted deeper into the insertion hole 21 to be in contact with the conductive connecting member 11 therein. Thereby, dangerous operation of inserting the single plug pin of the plug into the insertion hole of the socket is prevented.
However, the locking projections 38, 48 do not interfere with the normal operation of the two pins of the plug being inserted into the two sockets simultaneously. As shown in fig. 11a-11b, when the two pins 10,10 'of the plug are inserted into the two insertion holes 21, 21' at the same time, the two protective door leaves 3,4 are both driven to move, so that the locking projections 38, 48 on the second and third ends of the two protective door leaves 3,4 are both moved away from the center of the two insertion holes, so that the locking projections 38, 48 on each protective door leaf 3,4 are both moved away from the underside of the protective door 43, 33 on the first end of the other protective door leaf 4, 3 and no longer block the downward movement of the protective door 43, 33 in the axial direction of the insertion holes. In this way, the protective doors 43, 33 can continue to move diagonally guided by the housing guides to expose the slots 46, 36 of the respective protective door leaves 3,4 between the protective doors 43, 33 and the locking projections 38, 48 for the two pins 10, 10' to pass through to contact the conductive connection 11.
In an alternative embodiment, the protective door leaves 3,4 may not be arranged crosswise. Instead, one of the protective door leaves 3,4 is arranged separately from the other, i.e. the first protective door leaf 3 and the second protective door leaf 4 are each located completely on either side of the center of the two insertion openings 21,21 'without any overlap, and the first protective door guide structure 34,44 is closer to the center of the two insertion openings 21, 21' than the second protective door guide structure 35, 45. In this case, the guide paths of the seat body guide structure for the first and second protective door guide structures 34,44, 35,45 should be reversed in the direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the insertion hole and the same in the direction along the axial direction of the insertion hole, compared with the guide paths in the case where the protective door movers described earlier are arranged crosswise. For example, in the case of the inclined straight path movement defined by the guide slope 51, the guide slope 51 extends obliquely from a position close to the horizontal height of the insertion hole and in the axial direction of the insertion hole to the depth of the insertion hole and in a direction away from the centers of the two insertion holes; and the guide path of the second protective door guide structure 35,45 in the housing guide structure is located farther from the center of the two insertion holes than the corresponding first protective door guide structure 34, 44. In this way, when the pins of the plug extend into the receptacles 21, 21', the first ends of the two shutter moving parts 3,4 are driven away from one another, so that the two shutter moving parts 3,4 can likewise perform a "lying" movement, which is a combination of a translatory movement and a rotary movement, so that each pin of the plug can be inserted into the receptacle body of the socket via the shutter moving part 3,4 outside the first end of the shutter moving part 3,4 corresponding to the receptacle into which it is inserted and extend out to contact the electrically conductive connecting part. In this case, the two protective door leaves 3,4 cannot overlap and it is also not necessary to provide a slot 36, 46 for the passage of a bolt and the other protective door leaf.
In one embodiment, the side of the protective door 33,43 facing the outside of the receptacle is substantially planar. So that the jack will be substantially flush with the cover plate 2 of the socket, viewed from the outside of the socket, when the protective door extends into the jack. In the case where the decorative cover 6 is further provided outside the receptacle body, in a state where the protective door mover 3,4 closes the insertion hole, the plane of the protective door 33,43 of the protective door mover 3,4 facing the outside of the insertion hole is substantially flush with the outer surface of the cover 6. Thus, the protective door at the jack is almost integrated with the face cover when viewed from the outside of the jack, and the jack cannot be easily viewed. Thereby, a more attractive and tidy outer surface of the socket is obtained.
The protective door, which is substantially parallel to the surface of the receptacle cover plate or the face cover, also prevents dirt such as dust from accumulating in the receptacle or on the protective door, thereby further contributing to a neat appearance of the receptacle. Moreover, since the protective door in each jack is formed by a single protective door part, a bonding wire between a plurality of parts forming the protective door in a single jack is also avoided, so that the socket is cleaner and tidier.
Although the socket of the present invention has been described in the context of a wall socket, it should be understood that the socket of the present invention may be in other forms, such as a common terminal block (i.e., a row socket) or even various interface slots on an electrical device. Moreover, the socket of the present invention may be not only a power socket, but also various signal line sockets, such as a network cable, a limited television line, a telephone line socket, or a combination of a power socket and a signal line socket.
The description of the present invention has been presented for purposes of illustration and description, but is not intended to be exhaustive or limited to the invention in the form disclosed. Many modifications and variations will occur to those skilled in the art.
Therefore, the embodiments were chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the invention, the practical application, and to enable others of ordinary skill in the art to understand the invention for all modifications and substitutions that may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention as defined by the appended claims.
