Abstract
在具有矩阵型显示器的显示装置中,自动图像设置电路包括彩色视频信号源,和用于每个彩色视频信号的可调伽马校正电路。每个可调伽马校正电路具有用于接收控制信号的控制输入端,用于控制所进行的伽马校正量。此外,该自动图像设置电路包括环境光检测电路,用于根据所检测出的环境光量产生用于可调伽马校正电路的控制信号。由此,自动图像设置电路按照显示装置周围的环境光量调节显示装置上所显示的图像,从而保证最佳的显示图像。
Description
技术领域
本发明涉及调节矩阵显示器的图像设置,以便补偿环境光的改变。
背景技术
显示器上观察到的图像质量高度依赖于包含该显示器的房间中环境光的量。例如,在电影院中,经营者即使不熄灭剧院观众席照明灯的话通常也会减弱它,以便获得最好的图像。不过,在室内环境中,将灯熄灭是不实际的。相反,显示器例如电视机,可由用户进行控制,用于调节图像,补偿环境光量。一般包括调节所显示图像的对比度。由于室内照明有可能随时间而变,用户必须反复地调节所显示图像的对比度。
美国专利4,769,708披露了一种用于电视机的手动和自动环境光敏感图像控制,其中传感器测量环境光量,并据此来调节所显示图像的对比度。在这种电视机中,显示装置为阴极射线管。
本申请人发现,在具有有限光输出的显示器,如液晶显示器(LCD)或等离子体显示板的情形中,调节对比度导致图像质量下降。
本发明的目的在于为矩阵型显示器提供自动图像设置调节,以补偿环境光的改变。在一种自动图像设置调节电路中实现了这一目的,该自动图像设置调节电路包括彩色视频信号源;用于每种所述彩色信号的可调伽马校正电路,每个所述的可调伽马校正电路具有用于接收控制信号的控制输入端,所述控制信号用于控制所进行的伽马校正的量;以及环境光检测电路,根据所检测出的环境光量产生控制信号。
本申请人发现在矩阵型显示器中,最好将对比度保持为最佳设置。实际上,为了调节亮度的灰度级,应当调节伽马校正。伽马校正是应用于视频信号的电压值-亮度值传递函数。伽马校正补偿光度函数的总体的端对端线性度的差异。视频信号已经包含有固定大小的为阴极射线管所用的伽马校正。对于矩阵显示器而言,消除这种固定大小的伽马校正,然后为视频信号增加适量的伽马校正。通过根据环境光改变伽马校正的量,可调节图像质量以获得最佳的图像。
考虑到上述和下面给出的附加的目的和优点,将参照附图描述本发明,其中:
图1表示根据本发明自动图像设置调节电路的第一实施例;
图2表示可调伽马校正电路的一个实施例;和
图3表示根据本发明自动图像设置调节电路的第二实施例。
如图1中所示,输入端10,12,14和16分别接收亮度信号Y和色差信号R-Y,B-Y和G-Y。矩阵电路20由亮度和色差信号产生彩色视频信号R,G和B。彩色视频信号施加给相应的可调伽马校正电路22,24和26。将这些可调伽马校正电路的输出施加给显示驱动电路28,为矩阵型显示器30提供驱动信号。
可调伽马校正电路22,24和26具有与加法器电路32,34和36的输出端相连的伽马控制输入端,其中加法器电路32,34和36在各自的第一输入端处接收来自预置电路38的预置伽马控制信号。加法器电路32,34和36的第二输入端共同与另一加法器电路40的输出端相连,另一加法器电路40在用户输入端42处接收代表总伽马校正的用户设置的用户伽马控制信号。此外,加法器电路40从环境光检测电路44接收环境光伽马控制信号。环境光检测电路44包括光传感器46和电阻器R1的并联结构,该并联结构与处于参考电压源+VREF与地之间的第二电阻器R2串联。
在操作中,包含本发明的显示装置的制造商,使用预置电路38预调节每个可调伽马校正电路22,24,26的校正值。然后,显示装置的用户通过操纵与用户输入端连接的用户控制器(未示出),调节总的伽马校正量。最后,其中设有便于检测显示装置机壳外部的环境光的光传感器46,根据环境光量向加法器40施加可变的环境光伽马控制信号。
在美国专利5,889,565中给出了可调伽马校正电路22,24和26的一个实施例。具体而言,如图2中所示,视频信号施加给对数放大器50。可变增益放大器52具有一个与对数放大器50的输出端相连的输入端,并具有一个用于接收伽马控制值的控制输入端54。最后,反对数放大器56具有一个与可变增益放大器52的输出端相连的输入端,和用于输送经过伽马校正的视频信号的输出端。尽管可单独获得这些部件中的每一个,不过发现为了使对数和反对数放大器50和56适当的配合,必须将它们保持在相同温度下。从而,对数和反对数放大器50和56应当形成在同一集成电路芯片上。为此,适于将可变增益放大器52形成在相同的芯片上。更适当地,可将所有的可调伽马校正电路22,24和26都形成在相同的集成电路芯片上。
图3表示自动图像设置调节电路的第二实施例。具体而言,可调伽马校正电路22’,24’和26’为查询表(LUT)形式,其中彩色视频信号R,G,B作为地址信号施加。LUT 22’,24’和26’与微处理器60相连,然后将适当的伽马设置值设定在LUT 22’,24’和26’中。在一个实施例中,每个LUT 22’,24’和26’包含多个伽马值表格,并且微处理器60选择由相应彩色信号寻址的适当表格。为了限制每个LUT 22’,24’和26’所必需的尺寸,在另一实施例中,微处理器60计算用于每个LUT22’,24’和26’的适当的伽马值,然后将这些值写入LUT 22’,24’和26’中。应当理解,此时微处理器60中包括图1的预置电路38。用户输入端42还连接微处理器60,并施加表示用户所需的总伽马校正设置的用户控制信号。最后,环境光检测电路44通过另一查询表(LUT)62与微处理器60相连,该查询表(LUT)62将电压信号转换成用于微处理器60的伽马校正码。

Claims (10)
1.一种自动图像设置调节电路,包括:
彩色视频信号源(20);
用于每个所述彩色视频信号的可调伽马校正电路(22,24,26),每个所述的可调伽马校正电路具有用于接收相应伽马控制信号的控制输入端,所述控制信号用于控制所进行的伽马校正的量;
环境光检测电路(44),用于根据所检测出的环境光量产生伽马调节信号;以及
由所述伽马调节信号产生所述各伽马控制信号的装置(32,34,36,40,60)。
2.如权利要求1所述的自动图像设置调节电路,其中所述彩色信号源(20)包括用于接收色差信号和亮度信号的矩阵电路,所述矩阵电路产生所述彩色视频信号。
3.如权利要求1所述的自动图像设置调节电路,其中所述自动图像设置调节电路还包括用于对于每个所述的可调伽马校正电路提供表示初始操作条件的预置信号的预置电路(38),所述产生装置(32,34,36,40,60)由所述的预置信号和所述的伽马调节信号产生所述的各伽马控制信号。
4.如权利要求1所述的自动图像设置调节电路,其中所述自动图像设置调节电路还包括用户输入端(42),用于由用户提供表示所需总设置的用户控制信号,所述产生装置(32,34,36,40,60)由所述的用户控制信号和所述的伽马调节信号产生所述各伽马控制信号。
5.如权利要求1所述的自动图像设置调节电路,其中每个所述的可调伽马校正电路(22,24,26)包括以下的一系列设置:用于接收彩色视频信号的对数放大器(50);与对数放大器(50)的输出端相耦合的可变增益放大器(52),所述可变增益放大器(52)具有用于接收各伽马控制信号的控制输入端(54);以及与可变增益放大器(52)的输出端耦合的反对数放大器(56),反对数放大器(56)的输出端构成可调伽马校正电路的输出端。
6.如权利要求5所述的自动图像设置调节电路,其中所述彩色信号源(20)包括用于接收色差信号和亮度信号的矩阵电路,所述矩阵电路产生所述彩色视频信号。
7.如权利要求5所述的自动图像设置调节电路,其中所述自动图像设置调节电路还包括用于对于每个所述的可调伽马校正电路提供表示初始操作条件的预置信号的预置电路(38),所述产生装置(32,34,36,40)由所述的预置信号和所述的伽马调节信号产生所述的各伽马控制信号。
8.如权利要求5所述的自动图像设置调节电路,其中所述自动图像设置调节电路还包括用户输入端(42),用于由用户提供表示所需总设置的用户控制信号,所述产生装置(32,34,36,40)由所述的用户控制信号和所述的伽马调节信号产生所述各伽马控制信号。
9.如权利要求1所述的自动图像设置调节电路,其中每个所述的可调伽马校正电路包括查询表(22’,24’,26’),其中各彩色视频信号施加给地址输入端,并且所述产生装置包括微处理器(60),用于计算伽马值作为施加给可调伽马校正电路的所述各伽马控制信号。
10.如权利要求9所述的自动图像设置调节电路,其中所述自动图像设置调节电路还包括用户输入端(42),用于由用户提供表示所需总设置的用户控制信号,所述微处理器(60)由所述的用户控制信号和所述的伽马调节信号产生所述各伽马值。
