Abstract
本发明涉及对电子通信信息从源语言到一个或多个目标语言进行自动翻译的方法和系统。利用翻译识别符或语言识别装置来确定源语言。读取用户特征来确定目标语言。对目标语言和源语言进行比较以确定需要的翻译。
Description
本发明涉及翻译领域，更具体地说，涉及为网络环境下的通信信息无疏漏翻译的方法和设备。
背景技术
从一种语言到另一种语言通信信息的机器翻译冲破了个人和企业之间的障碍。在过去的二十年来，在机器翻译的质量上已经有稳固的提高。已经开发出对短语而不是逐词的各种翻译技术。另外的技术利用字典或翻译存储器来翻译整个句子。结果翻译后的通信信息的语法得到了提高，也因此提高了可读性。其中一些最好的翻译程序正在接近为通用语言或特定目的人工翻译的质量水平。
虽然机器翻译软件的技术水平明显地提高，然而其可用性没有多大提高。为了翻译文件、电子邮件或其他通信信息，通常需要进入翻译网站，运行翻译程序。例如源语言和目的语言、参考词典、特殊词汇等程序参数必须通过用户来输入。
在我们的申请号为09/676690的未决美国专利申请中，我们描述了一按式翻译系统，这种系统避免了有过多的用户输入，而这种输入对通信信息翻译来说是必要的。这种一按式翻译系统包括一按式翻译元件和翻译管理器，这两者在一旦用户敲击一按式元件时可结合提供几乎无疏漏的翻译。
虽然该一按式系统比现有技术有明显的进步，但是它仍然需要通过通信信息接收者的某些操作。要使通信信息的机器翻译普遍被接受，必须实现完全无疏漏。这就需要一种用接收者的优选语言来自动地叙述通信信息的系统。
一些最新技术虽接近但是不能达到上述理想状态。例如，受让给AT&T公司的第6161082号美国专利中描述了基于语言翻译系统的网络，其中的语言翻译系统通过利用网络的处理能力来提高机器翻译，从而可实现比本地机器更优越的翻译。然而，该专利未能阐明如何进行有关语言检测的。而是仅仅提及从两部分之间通信信息中可检测源语言和目标语言，但并没有指明这是如何实现的。
受让给Fujitsu Limited的第5548508号美国专利用于通过在包括上下文信息的文件内加有标签来提高机器翻译质量。例如，<TITLE>…</TITLE>标签表明词汇为标题，并随后显示。<MODIFY>…</MODIFY>标签可用来限定翻译词汇的正确顺序。Fujitsu发明达到了提供高精确性机器翻译的目的，但是以明显地减慢翻译的予处理和后处理为代价的。利用Fujitsu方法不能提供以无疏漏方式进行的机器翻译。
最近授权的受让给Sanoy Electric公司的第6073143号美国专利中描述了这样的方法，即通过把翻译命令加到文件的超级链路中来增强HTML文件的翻译。该发明寻求提出在翻译过程中发生的丢失超级链路的问题。但没有提出实际文件的改进翻译问题，同时没有提供无疏漏翻译问题的解决方案。
发明内容
在一种形式中，虽然不需要只是或真正最宽的形式，本发明涉及一种对电子通信信息从源语言到至少一个目标语言进行自动翻译的方法，该方法包括的步骤为：通过识别翻译识别符或用语言识别符装置分析所述电子通信信息来确定电子通信信息的源语言；通过读取用户接收的电子通信信息的用户特征(profile)来确定电子通信信息的目标语言；把目标语言和源语言进行比较，来确定需要的翻译；得到需要的翻译结果；以及把翻译后的电子通信显示给用户。
翻译识别符可以是如在HTML文件中HTML标签的语言识别符，或者可以是在我们的标题为“翻译信息段(segment)”的待审查申请中描述的翻译信息段。该申请的内容在这里参照引用。
如果没有翻译识别符，则用语言识别符软件来分析通信信息，以确定通信信息的源语言。或者，语言识别装置需要人工干涉来识别源语言。
确定目标语言的步骤还包括的步骤为：在接收机器中读取小段信息或文件来得到用户特征，或从如Microsoft Passport或其他信息库的单个注册系统中得到优选语言。
在另外的形式中，本发明涉及一种无疏漏翻译系统中，该系统包括：
发送电子通信信息的发信计算机；
接收翻译后电子通信信息的接收计算机；
把发信计算机和接收计算机连接的网络；以及
翻译管理器，
该管理器执行下面步骤：
确定电子通信信息的语言；
确定接收计算机用户的优选语言；
得到从通信语言到用户语言的翻译结果；以及
把翻译后的通信信息发送给用户。
在本发明的另一个方面，提供一种无疏漏翻译系统，该系统包括：
发送电子通信信息的发信计算机；
接收翻译后电子通信信息的接收计算机；
把发信计算机和接收计算机连接的网络；以及
确定电子通信信息语言的装置；
确定接收计算机用户优选语言的装置；
得到从通信语言到用户语言翻译结果的装置；以及
把翻译后的通信信息发送给用户的装置。
在本发明的又一个方面，提供一种无疏漏翻译系统，该系统包括：电子通信信息、用户特征以及翻译管理器；
电子通信信息，来源于一发信点并以在源语言中含有翻译识别符；
翻译管理器包括确定电子通信信息的源语言和目标语言的装置；
其中翻译管理器利用翻译识别符和用户特征来执行从所述源语言到所述目标语言的需要翻译。

图1示出了无疏漏翻译过程的流程图；
图2示出了在无疏漏翻译过程中确定源语言过程的流程图；

图4示出了在无疏漏翻译过程中得到翻译的过程的流程图；
图5示出了无疏漏翻译系统的示意结构。
具体实施方式
参见图1，该图示出了把通信信息从第一语言翻译成第二语言的方法流程图。为了描述方便，只就如网页的从源语言到目标语言的一种通信信息进行描述。可以理解的是，把该过程扩展到把多种通信信息翻译成多种语言或者在一种通信信息内翻译不同语言是无关重要的。另外，根据该方法，可翻译含有文本文件、电子邮件、SMS信息以及音频文件、视频文件等的任何通信信息。
在图1中，当用户请求翻译通信信息时，该方法开始启动。然而，如果用户发送如电子邮件或附加文件等信息，则该过程是相同的。用户也可请求翻译利用如FTP的其他协议的通信信息。在图1的实例中，用户请求翻译的是一个网页。
根据图2扩展的过程可确定通信信息的源语言。一旦确定了源语言，根据图3所示的过程，可确定目标语言。如果源语言和目标语言匹配，就不需要进一步处理，同时该通信信息显示给用户。如果语言不匹配，则根据图4的过程得到翻译结果。翻译后的通信信息以无疏漏方式显示给用户。所有这些处理自动发生，而不需要通信信息的接收者或者发送者的任何操作。可以理解的是，无疏漏翻译系统有助于冲破由于不同语言造成的通信障碍。
下面参见图2，该图更详细地示出了确定源语言的过程。在网页的情况下，用户浏览器分析该网页，识别翻译信息段。这正如我们的标题为“翻译信息段”的待审查申请中描述的那样，在这种情况中，所有实现翻译的相关信息立即可获得。对于电子邮件，该步骤可通过邮件应用程序来实现。其他形式的通信信息需要目的特定的软件应用程序或插件程序。
如果没有识别翻译信息段，则从HTML语言标记中识别源语言。如果这两种本地源(local source)均不存在，则通信信息的语言可从如数据库或文件的信息库中重新得到。如果不能得到通信信息语言的直接指示，则通过语言识别系统来分析通信信息。该语言识别系统在受让给Harris公司的第5062143号美国专利中描述过。
如果没有一种对自动语言识别的选择成功地进行，则该通信信息可直接传送到手工识别的人工翻译器上。可选择的是，无疏漏翻译过程结束，没有翻译的通信信息显示给用户。
图3中示出了确定作为接收者优选语言的目标语言的步骤。该接收计算机被询问语言优选的信息。如果用户利用单个注册系统(singlesign-on system)访问通信信息，其中该系统例如为存储在用户语言优选权的Microsoft Passport(见
www.pasport.com)，则用户语言信息很容易得到。如果不是这种情况，则搜索含有需要信息的小段信息(Cookie)或文件中。该信息有可能在前次需要无疏漏翻译过程中被存储。一种容易得到的优选语言的源为Windows操作系统。
如果目标语言从这些源中不能被确定，则可采用语言识别程序来对接收者对网页或其他软件或文件或文档的使用情况或常驻程序进行分析，其中这些通信信息由用户在其计算机上使用，从而推导出优选语言。
如果所有这些选择的步骤不能确定优选语言，则该无疏漏翻译过程结束，同时以最初的语言来显示。在这种情况下，通信信息可与翻译目标一起显示，显示方式如我们待审查的标题为“通信处理系统”的第US09/394968号专利申请中描述的那样。
一旦确定了源语言和目标语言，则根据图4中示出过程得到翻译结果。如果在源语言识别步骤检测到翻译信息段，则对于任何再次指向(redirection)有用的翻译过通信信息进行分析。例如，在其他语言的镜像网站上可得到许多网站。该TIS可包括多个指向这些镜像网站的指针。通过在上个步骤确定的源语言和目标语言来确定适当镜像网站。对于其他形式的通信信息，指针可指向存储在从因特网上得到的服务器内的文件或文档。如果在先前翻译已经完成并存储，则可采用这种情形。
如果在TIS中没有指针，则分析TIS以提取如音调、字典、语法等参数以及在上述待审查申请中描述的参数。这些参数然后被传递到机器翻译器中，以利用从TIS中得到的参数进行翻译。
如果没有合适的机器翻译器，则采用人工翻译器来翻译。如果TIS指向人工翻译而不是机器翻译，则也可采用人工翻译器。最后，翻译后的通信信息显示给接收者。
上述系统没有考虑付款方法。无论是通过人工还是机器得到的翻译都有成本。可用的付款方法包括接收者对其所有接收要进行无疏漏翻译的通信信息支付定金。可选择的是，通信的发送人可支付定金，从而他们所有的通信信息在呈现给潜在客户前被进行无疏漏翻译。这种商业模式对于基于网络的商业特别有吸引力，因为他们潜在的客户从不需要担心他们访问的网站不是其母语。
图5中示出了在网络环境下无疏漏翻译系统的实际应用的示意图。利用在个人计算机3上的浏览器，用户1请求或接收如网页2的通信信息。该浏览器通过因特网5从网络服务器4请求网页2。
在实例中，用于个人计算机浏览器的插件程序用在无疏漏翻译系统中。该插件程序分析该通信信息，以识别源语言并从Windows操作系统的注册文件中读取目标语言。对于该实例，假定插件程序查找翻译信息段，并从而具有所有实现良好翻译必要的参数。该插件程序通过因特网5，利用从翻译信息段中得到的参数来请求翻译。
如果网络服务器4具有通信信息2的适当译文2a，则把该译文2a直接提供给用户1。如果适当的译文没有得到，则翻译请求从TIS传递到带有参数的翻译管理器6中，该翻译管理器6从翻译引擎7中得到译文2b。
为了容易解释，单独地示出了翻译管理器6和翻译引擎。这些功能包含在运行在一个计算机上的一个应用程序中或单独的应用程序中。如果安装有适当的软件时，这种翻译功能甚至可在个人计算机3上在本地实现。
贯穿整个说明书，已经描述了本发明的实施例，同时不把发明限定为可选择特征的任何具体结合。
Claims (9)
1.一种将电子通信信息从源语言自动翻译到一个或多个目标语言的方法，该方法包括的步骤为：
通过识别翻译识别符或用语言识别符装置分析所述电子通信信息来确定电子通信信息的源语言；
通过读取用户接收的电子通信信息的用户特征来确定电子通信信息的目标语言；
把目标语言和源语言进行比较，来确定需要的翻译；
得到需要的翻译结果；以及
把翻译后的电子通信显示给用户。
2.根据权利要求1的电子通信信息的自动翻译方法，其中翻译识别符为如在HTML文件中HTML标签的语言识别符。
3.根据权利要求1的电子通信信息的自动翻译方法，其中翻译识别符为翻译信息段。
4.根据权利要求1的电子通信信息的自动翻译方法，其中，如果在所述电子通信信息中没有翻译识别符，则该方法包括的步骤为：
用语言识别符软件来分析通信信息，以确定通信信息的源语言；或者
进行人工干涉来识别源语言。
5.根据权利要求1的电子通信信息的自动翻译方法，其中确定目标语言的步骤还包括：在接收机器中读取小段信息或文件来得到用户特征，或从如Microsoft Passport或其他信息库的单个注册系统中得到优选语言。
6.一种无疏漏翻译系统，包括：
发送电子通信信息的发信计算机；
接收翻译后电子通信信息的接收计算机；
把发信计算机和接收计算机连接的网络；以及
翻译管理器，该管理器执行下面步骤：
确定电子通信信息的语言；
确定接收计算机用户的优选语言；
得到从通信语言到用户语言的翻译结果；以及
把翻译后的通信信息发送给用户。
7.一种无疏漏翻译系统，包括：电子通信信息、用户特征以及翻译管理器；
电子通信信息，来源于一发信点并以在源语言中含有翻译识别符；
翻译管理器包括确定所述电子通信信息的源语言和目标语言的装置；
其中，翻译管理器利用翻译识别符和用户特征来执行所需的从所述源语言到所述目标语言的翻译。
8.一种无疏漏翻译系统，包括：
发送电子通信信息的发信计算机；
接收翻译后电子通信信息的接收计算机；
把发信计算机和接收计算机连接的网络；以及
确定电子通信信息语言的装置；
确定接收计算机用户优选语言的装置；
得到从通信语言到用户语言翻译结果的装置；以及
把翻译后的通信信息发送给用户的装置。
9.根据权利要求8的无疏漏翻译系统，还包括翻译管理器，所述翻译管理器包括：
所述确定电子通信信息语言的装置；
所述确定接收计算机用户优选语言的装置；
所述得到从通信语言到用户语言翻译结果的装置；以及
所述把翻译后的电子通信信息发送给用户的装置。
