背景技术
由于电视娱乐变得日益复杂，可以向消费者提供更宽泛的选项，供其从中选择。除了传统的广播电视节目之外，一个电视观众现在还可以接入有线电视节目、数字卫星服务节目、有线立体声广播及传统的卫星节目。并且，每种传输媒体都向消费者提供更多数量和种类的节目。

观众通过从在导航条180上列出的一个菜单按钮列表中启动一个网格按钮180a来访问电视节目节目安排信息。当网格按钮180a被启动后，网格向导182显示一个电视节目列表，它在一系列节目标题中带有其各自的频道指示182a。根据本发明的一个实施方案，频道指示182a指示对应的信号源(如有线、无线等)或者频道所代表的地理区域(如本地网络台)。
除了节目标题之外，网格向导22还包括带有虚拟频道广告的广告标题190。一个虚拟频道广告可以宣传例如当前或将来的电视节目。这样一个电视节目的虚拟频道广告被链接到该节目的一个时间和频道，使观众能够自动观看或录制该节目。
观众可以通过从导航条180中启动一个新闻按钮180b来访问新闻文章。也可以提供类似的按钮来访问关于过去、现在和将来的体育事件的信息、以及访问一个特定地理区域的本地信息向导。
图5是一个依据本发明的一个实施方案覆盖在当前电视节目202的一个小区域上的迷你向导200的示意布局图。该迷你向导包括至少一个画面广告窗口200a和一个信息区域200b。该画面广告窗口200a占据屏幕的左下角并且一般被产品/服务或将来节目的付费广告所填充。信息区域200b位于与画面广告窗口200a相邻的位置，并且占据了屏幕的右下角。信息区域200b提供当前正在观看的节目的详细信息。画面广告窗口200a和信息区域200b共同占据了屏幕的下1/3部分。屏幕的上2/3部分由当前电视节目202所占据。
依据本发明的一个替代实施方案，一个用户可以在一个设置窗口中定制迷你向导的显示。在这一点上，用户规定不同的显示设置，如迷你向导的位置与大小，以及其他显示条件。
观众在以全屏格式观看电视节目202时，通过使用观众输入设备40发出迷你向导指令来调用迷你向导200。这可以通过例如在观看当前电视节目202时按下在观众输入设备40上的一个“信息”键来完成。该指令被传送给微处理器150，它启动储存在存储器中的一个迷你向导程序。
迷你向导程序从EPG存储器145中检索当前节目202的标题和简短说明，以及其开始时间和持续时间。检索到的信息随后被显示在迷你向导的信息区域200b中。在当前节目202可以有多级信息，每级又带有附加的节目信息时，所显示的信息被认为是第一级信息。
附加信息级别的存在最好是由在信息区域200b中的一个信息图标208来表示。附加的信息级别可以通过再次按下“信息”键来观看。迷你向导程序从EPG存储器145中检索关于当前节目202更详细的信息，并且将其显示在信息区域200b中，当前电视节目顶端的一个局部屏幕窗口中，或者代替电视节目的一个全屏窗口中。
用户还可以直接从迷你向导200来计划观看或录制当前电视节目202将来的重播。用户选择一个观看操作按钮204来计划观看，或选择一个录制操作按钮206来录制将来的重播。
除了上述之外，在信息区域显示的节目相关信息还包含到一个公共网络如因特网的链接，以及到通过EPG可提供的其他信息的链接。例如，迷你向导200可以提供到新闻数据库中的相关新闻文章的链接，到体育数据库中体育相关信息的链接，以及到家乡数据库中本地事件与商务信息的链接。可以通过在信息区域200b中提供的可视或声音指示符向一个用户提示一个链接。例如，可以在信息区域中插入一个新闻文章图标210来提示用户一篇相关新闻文章的存在。接着，在信息区域200b中，在当前电视节目顶端一个单独的局部屏幕窗口，或者在代替电视节目的一个全屏窗口中向用户显示被链接的文章。
迷你向导200还从广告存储器146中检索广告数据，并在画面广告窗口200a上显示它。根据本发明的一个实施方案，广告是基于当前正在观看的节目的。例如，如果观众正在观看一场足球比赛，则一个体育相关广告被显示在画面广告窗口200a中。
在一个替代实施方案中，广告是根据观众简档信息来定制的。观众简档信息的创建与分析在美国申请序列号09/120,488中有详细的描述，其内容收编于此以供参考。简要地说，每次观众与电视、迷你向导、EPG、因特网及EPG外部的任何其他信息源进行交互时，EPG记录观众的行为及围绕那些行为的环境。例如，当观众变换频道时，EPG在其他事物中要记录，关于第一个频道的信息、转换到的频道、进行转换的时间、在第一个频道上显示的节目标识、在所转换到的频道上所显示的节目标识、转换的时间、转换时在第一个频道上所显示的任何广告的标识、在所转换到的频道上显示的任何广告的标识、以及与在电视模式中相对，在EPG的一个模式中观众是否转换了频道。
EPG还记录观众的每一次录制或观看一个节目的指令。EGP进而记录观众是否改变了电视声音的音量，以及如果是的话，围绕音量改变的是什么样的环境。
如果观众在一种EPG模式中变换了频道，EPG记录关于变换发生之前和之后，在EPG的每个窗口中所显示内容的信息。
EPG还记录当观众与电视或EPG之间没有交互进行时的信息。例如，EPG记录一个观众是否持续观看一个广告而不是变换频道。EPG计算并记录电视在任何特定日子中被打开的整个持续时间。
EPG还记录围绕观众与外部信息源的交互的信息，外部信息源例如可以是因特网。例如，EPG记录由观众发起的每个搜索查询条件，用于进行搜索的搜索引擎、由观众从搜索回应中选择的项目、由用户与因特网站点进行的交互、以及在观众和因特网进行交互的同一时间范围内，观众与EPG所进行的交互。
EPG积累并分析观众简档信息并选择一个广告显示在画面广告窗口上。当观看当前电视节目202时，观众最好是直接从迷你向导200与广告进行交互，就象他或她可能与全屏向导所做的那样。例如，观众可以加亮广告，从而在信息区域200b中引发一个广告相关信息的自动显示。例如，对于产品相关的广告，加亮该广告可以触发关于该产品的信息的显示和/或导致该产品的一个视频剪辑的显示。观众通过从观众输入设备40发送一条购买指令，可以购买在所加亮广告中的产品。在本发明的一个实施方案中，购买信息是通过一个反向信道传送到一个收集机构或者特定的零售商，他处理购买请求并将产品发送给观众。
在本发明的另一个实施方案中，一个广告的加亮会导致在信息区域200b中的一个到相关因特网站点的链接的显示。该链接的选择会导致电视系统10与因特网相连，这种连接是通过电话线经调制解调器、通过电缆调制解调器，或者通过包括一个无线调制解调器在内的任何其他传统因特网通信方式来进行的。
在画面广告窗口200a上所显示的广告还可以涉及一个当前播出或将来播出的电视节目。一个观众通过加亮广告并从观众输入设备40发送一条输入/选择指令，可以直接调谐到在画面广告窗口所广告的当前播出节目。观众还可以通过从迷你向导直接选择观看操作按钮204或录制操作按钮206来分别录制或将节目放入一个观看节目安排中。
虽然本发明已经在某些特定实施方案中进行了描述，但对于熟悉技术的人员来说，许多额外的修改和变化是显而易见的。因此，可以理解，本发明可以用与所作的专门描述不同的方式来实施。所以，本发明的实施方案应当在所有方面作为说明性而不是限制性地进行考虑，本发明的范围由所附的权利要求及其同义语确定。

Claims (17)

1.一种用于在一个电视系统中显示电视节目安排信息的方法，该电视系统包括一个具有显示屏幕的电视机，该方法包括：
以一种全屏格式在该屏幕上显示一个电视节目；
在该屏幕的一个第一区域上显示与该电视节目相关的一部分电视节目安排信息；以及
在该屏幕的与该第一区域沿水平方向相邻的一个第二区域上显示一个广告；
其中在第一区域中的信息部分和在第二区域中的广告响应于一个用户指令而被同时调用并迭置在一部分电视节目上。
2.权利要求1的方法，其中第一和第二区域占据了整个屏幕区域的大约1/3。
3.权利要求1的方法，其中第一和第二区域的位置与大小是由用户定制的。
4.权利要求1的方法，其中电视节目安排信息是以多级别细节的形式组织的，且屏幕的第一区域一开始显示第一级的细节。
5.权利要求4的方法，其中在该全屏格式下显示了附加的级别的信息。
