Aspects of the present disclosure relate to kits comprising cosmetic compositions as discussed herein. In one embodiment, the cosmetic composition of the present disclosure is a hair cosmetic or hair treatment composition. For example, a kit may comprise at least one cosmetic composition according to the present disclosure, such as a hair cosmetic or hair treatment composition, and one or more additional compositions, such as shampoos, conditioners, and the like. Various compositions are included separately in the kit. In some cases, the kit comprises one or more cosmetic compositions, such as hair cosmetic or hair treatment compositions, shampoos, conditioners, hair masks, and/or other hair treatment products according to the present disclosure, all of which are covered by Hold alone.

The cosmetic compositions of the set may be packaged in a variety of different containers, such as, for example, ready-to-use containers. Aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods for producing cosmetic compositions. Methods of producing cosmetic compositions generally include:

(ii) urea compounds,

wherein the molar ratio of (i) citric acid to (ii) urea compound is from about 10:0.5 to about 0.5:10; and

(II) (I) deep eutectic solvent system is added in base material composition, and this base material composition comprises:

(a) from about 20 to about 95 percent by weight polyol, based on the weight of the base composition;

(b) from about 5 to about 70% by weight of one or more monohydric alcohols having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, based on the weight of the base composition;

Wherein the weight ratio of polyol to one or more monohydric alcohols (polyol: one or more monohydric alcohols) is 20:1 to 1:20;

(c) from about 0.1 to about 10% by weight of one or more cationic surfactants, based on the weight of the base composition; and

(d) From about 0.1 to about 20% by weight of one or more fatty compounds, based on the weight of the base composition.

The method may further comprise forming (I) a deep eutectic solvent (DES) system by mixing (i) citric acid and (ii) a urea compound in a ratio (eg, as discussed herein). In some cases, a DES system can be formed at room temperature, for example, when citric acid and a urea compound are mixed in liquid form at room temperature. In other cases, the method includes heating the mixture/combination of citric acid and urea compounds to a temperature of about 70°C to about 90°C. It is often beneficial to heat the mixture/combination of citric acid and urea compounds when the citric acid and urea compounds do not mix as liquids at room temperature. The mixture/combination of citric acid and urea compound can be heated to a temperature such that the citric acid and urea compound mix as a liquid. For example, a mixture/combination of citric acid and urea compounds can be heated to the following temperatures: about 75°C to about 90°C, about 80°C to about 90°C, about 85°C to about 90°C, about 70°C to about 85°C , about 75°C to about 85°C, about 80°C to about 85°C, about 70°C to about 80°C, about 75°C to about 80°C, or about 70°C to about 75°C, or any range or subrange thereof.

The method may comprise producing the base of a cosmetic composition by combining (a) one or more polyols, (b) a monohydric alcohol having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, (c) a cationic surfactant, and (d) a fatty compound combination. Those of ordinary skill will understand how to combine the foregoing compounds to stabilize and/or homogenize the base of the composition. In some cases, the base of the cosmetic composition may be heated, mixed, and/or subjected to shear, such as from an emulsifier.

One or more methods for treating keratinous stroma

Aspects of the present disclosure also relate to methods of using such cosmetic compositions.

Methods for treating keratinous substrates such as hair or skin according to aspects of the present disclosure generally include:

(1) cosmetic composition is applied on keratinous substrate, and this cosmetic composition comprises:

(a) from about 20 to about 95% by weight polyol;

(b) from about 5 to about 70% by weight of one or more monohydric alcohols having 2 to 6 carbon atoms;

(ii) optionally, rinsing the keratinous matrix to remove at least a portion of the cosmetic composition;

wherein the keratinous substrate is moistened or rinsed with external water before and/or after and/or during application of the cosmetic composition to the substrate.

Methods for treating hair according to aspects of the present disclosure generally include:

(I) optionally, applying a shampoo to the hair;

(II) optionally, rinsing the hair to remove at least a portion of the shampoo;

(III) Applying a cosmetic composition comprising:

(a) from about 20 to about 95% by weight polyol;

(b) from about 5 to about 70% by weight of one or more monohydric alcohols having 2 to 6 carbon atoms;

Wherein the weight ratio of polyol to one or more monohydric alcohols (polyol: one or more monohydric alcohols) is 20:1 to 1:20;

(c) from about 0.1 to about 10% by weight of one or more cationic surfactants;

(i) citric acid, and

(ii) urea compounds,

wherein the molar ratio of (i) citric acid to (ii) urea compound is from about 10:0.5 to about 0.5:10, and all weight percentages are based on the total weight of the cosmetic composition; and

(IV) Optionally, the hair is rinsed to remove at least a portion of the cosmetic composition.

Methods for treating and/or cleansing hair according to the present disclosure can vary, but generally include applying a cosmetic composition as disclosed herein, allowing the cosmetic composition to remain on the hair for a sufficient amount of time, and rinsing the cosmetic composition from the hair things. In some cases, however, the cosmetic composition may be a leave-on composition. In some cases, the method includes forming a lamellar phase structure, hybrid structure, and/or opaque emulsion on hands and then applying it to hair or skin. In other cases, the methods involve forming lamellar phase structures, hybrid structures and/or opaque emulsions directly on the hair or skin. When the keratinous substrate to be treated is hair, the cosmetic compositions and emulsions formed by incorporation of water are useful for conditioning, detangling the hair, improving the durability of the cosmetic effect and/or improving the resistance of the hair to thermal degradation. Cosmetic compositions and emulsions formed by combining with water can be applied to wet or damp hair and can be massaged into the hair, for example, by hand, and/or spread throughout the hair with a comb or brush. This leaves hair smooth and soft, reducing frizz, dryness and unwanted volume.

In some instances, the cosmetic composition is used with additional hair care or skin care or skin cleansing compositions for daily activities, for example, during an individual's normal shower/bath/cleansing routine. Cosmetic compositions may be applied to the hair or skin alone, or may be combined with one or more additional compositions. For example, a cosmetic composition can be mixed with a shampoo (or conditioner) prior to application to the hair. In this case, the mixture of shampoo (or conditioner) and cosmetic composition is simultaneously applied to the hair and simultaneously rinsed from the hair during the cleansing or conditioning process. Alternatively, the cosmetic composition may be layered (or lathered on) onto hair to which shampoo (or conditioner) has been applied, or vice versa. In this case, the cosmetic composition can be applied to the hair without rinsing it out, followed by application of the shampoo (or conditioner) to the hair. When used in combination with a shampoo and/or conditioner, the cosmetic composition may be in a ratio of about 1:10 to about 10:1, about 1:5 to about 5:1, about 1:3 to about 3:1, A ratio of about 1:2 to about 2:1, about 1:1 to about 4:1, about 1:1 to about 3:1, or about 1:1 to about 2:1 (cosmetic compositions of the present disclosure: wash Hair lotion/conditioner, etc.) mixed or used with shampoo and/or conditioner.

The cosmetic composition of the present disclosure may be allowed to remain on the hair for a minimum period of time before being rinsed from the hair, but it is not necessary to allow the cosmetic composition to remain on the hair for an extended period of time. Suitably, the cosmetic composition may be applied and allowed to remain on the hair for a period of time which is typical for regular shampooing and/or conditioning. When the cosmetic composition is not mixed with another composition prior to application to the hair, the cosmetic composition can be applied immediately after or before treating the hair with another composition (e.g., shampoo and/or conditioner) in hair. All components and elements explicitly set forth in the disclosure can be unexcluded from the claims. wherein the molar ratio of (i) citric acid to (ii) urea compound is from about 10:0.5 to about 0.5:10, preferably from about 8:1 to about 1:8, or preferably from about 5:1 to about 1:5, Or more preferably from about 4:1 to about 1:4, or even more preferably from about 3:1 to about 1:3, and all weight percentages are based on the total weight of the cosmetic composition.

In yet other embodiments, a method for producing a cosmetic composition comprises:

(1) producing a deep eutectic solvent system comprising:

(i) citric acid, preferably in an amount from about 0.5 to about 12% by weight, or more preferably in an amount from about 1 to about 10% by weight, and

(ii) urea compounds, preferably in an amount from about 0.5 to about 12% by weight, or more preferably in an amount from about 1 to about 10% by weight, wherein the urea compounds may be selected from imidazolidinyl urea, diazolidinyl urea , m-dimethylaminophenyl urea, dimethyl urea, hydroxyethyl urea, urea, urea derivatives, imidazolidinyl urea, diazolidinyl urea, m-dimethylaminophenyl urea, dimethyl urea, hydroxyethyl urea, N-(2-hydroxyethyl) urea, N-(2-hydroxypropyl) urea; N-(3-hydroxypropyl) urea; N-(2,3-dihydroxy Propyl)urea; N-(2,3,4,5,6-pentahydroxyhexyl)urea; N-methyl-N-(1,3,4,5,6-pentahydroxy-2-hexyl)urea ; N-methyl-N'-(1-hydroxy-2-methyl-2-propyl)urea; N-(1-hydroxy-2-methyl-2-propyl)urea; N-(1, 3-dihydroxy-2-propyl)urea; N-(trimethylolmethyl)urea;

- about 20 to about 95% by weight, preferably about 20 to about 85% by weight, more preferably about 30 to about 70% by weight of a polyhydric alcohol, for example selected from the group consisting of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, butanediol, hexylene glycol, pentanediol Alcohol, 1,3-propanediol, diethylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, 1,4-butanediol, 1,5-pentanediol, 1,6-hexanediol, glycerin, diglycerin, caprylyl glycol, poly those of ethylene glycol and mixtures thereof;

- about 5 to about 70% by weight, preferably about 5 to about 50% by weight, more preferably about 5 to about 40% by weight of one or more monohydric alcohols having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, including e.g. ethanol, propanol , butanol, pentanol, hexanol, isopropanol, cyclohexanol, isobutanol, 2-methyl-2-butanol (2-methylbutan-2-ol) and mixtures thereof;

Wherein the weight ratio of polyol to one or more monohydric alcohols (polyol:one or more monohydric alcohols) is 20:1 to 1:20, preferably about 15:1 to about 1:20, more preferably about 15 :1 to about 1:15;

Example

Embodiments of the present disclosure are provided by the following examples. The following examples serve to illustrate aspects of the technology and are not limiting in nature.

Example 1

Cosmetic compositions were prepared from combinations of exemplary base compositions and exemplary deep eutectic solvent (DES) systems, as shown in Tables 1 and 2. The DES system is prepared by heating citric acid and urea in a water bath. Specifically, an exemplary cosmetic composition (Exemplary Composition A) was prepared using the methods discussed herein to combine 95% by weight of a base composition and 5% by weight of a deep eutectic solvent system ("DES") system. A second exemplary cosmetic composition (Exemplary Composition B) was prepared using the methods discussed herein to combine 90% by weight of the base composition and 10% by weight of the DES system. A third exemplary cosmetic composition (Exemplary Composition C) was prepared using the methods discussed herein to combine 98.5% by weight of the base composition and 1.5% by weight of the DES system.

The formulations of exemplary compositions A-C are shown in Table 3.

Example 2

The heat denaturation temperature and durability effects imparted to the hair by Exemplary Compositions A and B were evaluated in comparison to the effects imparted by Comparative Composition 1 and the Control. Comparative Composition 1 had the same formulation as the base composition provided in Table 1, which was used to prepare Exemplary Compositions A and B.

Exemplary compositions A and B and comparative composition 1 were applied to bleached hair samples. The bleached hair swatches were washed with a conventional sulfate-based shampoo and rinsed prior to application of the corresponding cosmetic composition in an amount of about 0.1 grams per gram of hair swatch. Comb the hair swatch to evenly spread the corresponding cosmetic composition over the hair swatch. After about 1 minute, rinse the hair swatch with water. A control was prepared by applying a conventional sulphate-based shampoo without subsequent application of the cosmetic composition to the hair swatches.

Hair samples were evaluated to evaluate the effect of Exemplary Compositions A and B and Comparative Composition 1 on the heat denaturation temperature and durability of the hair samples, relative to the control. The hair samples were subjected to cyclic fatigue to determine the durability of the hair samples. The cycle tester simulates daily hair grooming by subjecting fibers to repeated cycles of tensile deformation until failure. Furthermore, the thermal denaturation temperature of the hair samples, which is related to the crosslink density of the amorphous matrix, was evaluated using differential scanning calorimetry. Differential scanning calorimetry measures the thermal stability of major morphological components of hair.

As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the hair samples receiving exemplary compositions A and B had denaturation temperatures of about 136°C and about 137°C, respectively. Both Comparative Composition 1 and Control had a denaturation temperature of about 132°C. The durability of hair treated with Exemplary Composition A was surprisingly higher than that of hair treated with Comparative Composition 1 and the Control. For example, hair treated with Exemplary Composition A was about 50% more durable than hair treated with Comparative Composition 1 and the Control. Hair treated with Exemplary Composition B also exhibited greater durability than hair treated with Comparative Composition 1 and the Control.

Example 3

The heat denaturation temperature and durability effects imparted to the hair by Exemplary Composition A were evaluated in comparison to the effects imparted by Comparative Compositions 1-3 and the Control. Comparative Composition 2 was prepared by combining 98% by weight of the base composition and 2% by weight of N,N-dimethylurea. Comparative Composition 3 was prepared by combining 97% by weight of the base composition and 3% by weight of citric acid.

Exemplary Composition A and Comparative Compositions 1-3 were applied to bleached hair samples. The bleached hair swatches were washed with a conventional sulfate-based shampoo and rinsed prior to application of Exemplary Composition A and Comparative Compositions 1-3 in an amount of about 0.1 gram of the corresponding cosmetic composition per gram of hair swatch. The hair swatch is combed to evenly spread the corresponding cosmetic preparation over the hair swatch. After about 1 minute, rinse the hair swatch with water. A control was prepared according to the procedure described above, except that no cosmetic composition was applied to each hair swatch after the conventional sulfate-based shampoo.

The hair samples were then evaluated to assess the effect of Exemplary Composition A and Comparative Compositions 1-3 on the heat denaturation temperature (which corresponds to crosslink density) and durability of the hair samples, relative to the control. The heat denaturation temperature and durability of hair were determined as discussed in Example 3.

Hair treated with Exemplary Composition A exhibited improved heat denaturation temperature and significantly improved durability compared to hair treated with Comparative Compositions 1-3 and the Control, as seen in FIGS. 3 and 4 .

Example 4

The heat denaturation temperature and durability effects imparted by Exemplary Composition A were evaluated in comparison to the effects imparted to hair by Comparative Compositions 1-3 and the Control. In particular, Exemplary Composition A and Comparative Compositions 1-3 were applied to bleached hair samples. The bleached hair swatches were washed with a conventional sulfate-based shampoo and rinsed prior to application of Exemplary Composition A and Comparative Compositions 1-3 in an amount of about 0.1 gram of the corresponding cosmetic composition per gram of hair swatch. The hair swatch is combed to evenly spread the corresponding cosmetic preparation over the hair swatch. After about 1 minute, rinse the hair swatch with water. A total of 6 cycles of this procedure of shampooing the hair swatches, rinsing the hair swatches, and applying the corresponding cosmetic composition are performed. A control was prepared according to the procedure described above, except that no cosmetic composition was applied to each hair swatch after the conventional sulfate-based shampoo.

The hair samples were then evaluated to assess the effect of Exemplary Composition A and Comparative Compositions 1-3 on the heat denaturation temperature (which corresponds to crosslink density) and durability of the hair samples, relative to the control. The heat denaturation temperature and durability of hair were determined as discussed in Example 3.

Hair treated with Exemplary Composition A exhibited improved heat denaturation temperature and significantly improved durability compared to hair treated with Comparative Compositions 1-3 and the Control, as seen in FIGS. 5 and 6 .

Example 5

Hair swatches treated with Exemplary Compositions A and H were evaluated and compared to hair swatches treated with Comparative Composition 1 or conventional sulfate based shampoo only (control). Exemplary composition H was prepared by adding a mixture comprising 6% by weight citric acid and 4% by weight dimethylurea to the base composition of Table 1, wherein the remainder of the mixture was water, The amount of such a mixture is 5% by weight of the total weight of the exemplary composition H and the amount of the base composition is 95% by weight of the total weight of the exemplary composition H.

Prior to application of Exemplary Compositions A and H and Comparative Composition 1, natural brown wavy Caucasian hair swatches were washed with a conventional sulfate-based shampoo and rinsed. An amount of 0.4 grams per gram of hair swatches of the respective compositions was massaged into their respective hair swatches for 1 minute, left on the hair swatches for 1 minute, rinsed for 30 seconds, and then blow-dried for 2 minutes. These hair samples were then evaluated using a rinse off procedure to assess the effect of the composition. A control was prepared according to the procedure described above, except that no cosmetic composition was applied to the hair swatches after the conventional sulphate-based shampoo.

Additional hair samples were prepared by applying the test composition to the hair samples in an amount of 0.15 grams of composition per gram of corresponding hair sample. Specifically, Exemplary Compositions A and H and Comparative Composition 1 were massaged onto their respective hair swatches for one minute, left on the hair swatches for one minute, and then subsequently dried for two minutes. These hair samples were evaluated using a retention procedure to evaluate the effect of the test composition.

Each hair sample was assessed for its anti-frizz properties, or degree of curl, using imaging analysis. The anti-frizz properties of the hair samples were measured after the hair samples were blow-dried and after the hair samples were placed in a humidity chamber at 80% relative humidity and room temperature for 1 hour.

Surprisingly, for both wash and hold procedures, samples treated with Exemplary Composition A showed significantly better resistance post-treatment and one hour after treatment compared to samples treated with Comparative Composition 1 or the control. Curl properties, as shown in Figures 7A and 7B. Furthermore, Exemplary Composition H exhibited significantly better anti-frizz properties after treatment compared to samples treated with Composition 1 or the control for both rinse and hold procedures. For the retention procedure, Exemplary Composition H exhibited better anti-frizz properties one hour after treatment compared to samples treated with Comparative Composition 1 or the Control.

Example 6

The heat denaturation temperature and durability effects imparted to the hair by Exemplary Composition C were evaluated in comparison to the effects imparted by Comparative Compositions 1, 4 and 5 and the Control. Comparative Composition 4 was prepared by combining 99.1% by weight of the base composition and 0.9% by weight of citric acid. Comparative Composition 5 was prepared by combining 99.4% by weight of the base composition and 0.6% by weight of N,N-dimethylurea.

Specifically, Exemplary Composition C and Comparative Compositions 1, 4, and 5 were applied to bleached hair swatches. Bleached hair swatches were washed with a conventional sulfate-based shampoo and rinsed prior to application of Exemplary Composition C and Comparative Compositions 1, 4, and 5 in an amount of about 0.1 grams of the corresponding cosmetic composition per gram of hair swatch . The hair swatch is combed to evenly spread the corresponding cosmetic preparation over the hair swatch. After about 1 minute, rinse the hair swatch with water. The procedure of shampooing the hair swatches, rinsing the hair swatches, and applying the corresponding cosmetic composition is completed a total of 6 cycles. A control was prepared according to the procedure described above, except that no cosmetic composition was applied to each hair swatch after the conventional sulfate-based shampoo.

The hair was then evaluated to assess the effect of Exemplary Composition C and Comparative Compositions 1, 4, and 5 on the heat denaturation temperature (which corresponds to crosslink density) and durability of the hair, relative to the control. The heat denaturation temperature and durability of hair were determined as discussed in Example 3.

Hair treated with Exemplary Composition C exhibited improved heat denaturation temperature and significantly improved durability compared to hair treated with Comparative Compositions 1, 4 and 5, and the control, as seen in Figures 8 and 9 .

Example 7

The heat denaturation temperature and durability effects imparted by Exemplary Compositions D-G were compared to those imparted by Comparative Composition 1 and the Control. Exemplary Compositions D-G and Comparative Composition 1 were applied to bleached hair samples. The bleached hair swatches were washed with a conventional sulfate-based shampoo and rinsed prior to application of Exemplary Compositions D-G and Comparative Composition 1 in an amount of about 0.4 grams of the respective cosmetic composition per gram of hair swatch. Massage the hair swatch to spread the corresponding cosmetic preparation evenly over the hair swatch. After about 1 minute, rinse the hair swatch with water. A control was prepared according to the procedure described above, except that no cosmetic composition was applied to each hair swatch after the conventional sulfate-based shampoo.

The hair was then evaluated to assess the effect of Exemplary Composition DG and Comparative Composition 1 on the heat denaturation temperature (which corresponds to crosslink density) and durability of the hair, relative to the control.

The heat denaturation temperature and durability of hair were determined as discussed in Example 3.

As shown in Figure 10, Exemplary Compositions D-G exhibit improved heat denaturation temperatures compared to hair treated with Comparative Composition 1 and the Control. Hair treated with Exemplary Composition E exhibited surprisingly improved durability, as shown in FIG. 11 .

Claims (27)

1. A cosmetic composition comprising:

(a) About 20 to about 95 weight percent polyol;

(b) About 5 to about 70 weight percent of one or more monohydric alcohols having 2 to 6 carbon atoms;

wherein the weight ratio of polyol to one or more monohydric alcohol (polyol: one or more monohydric alcohol) is from 20:1 to 1:20;

(c) About 0.1 to about 10 weight percent of one or more cationic surfactants;

(d) About 0.1 to about 20 weight percent of one or more fatty compounds; and

(e) About 1 to about 15 weight percent of a combination of:

(i) Citric acid, and

(ii) The urea-based compound is used as a catalyst,

wherein the molar ratio of (i) citric acid to (ii) urea is from about 10:0.5 to about 0.5:10, and all weight percentages are based on the total weight of the cosmetic composition.

2. The cosmetic composition of claim 1, wherein the combination of citric acid and urea compound is added as a eutectic solvent.

3. The cosmetic composition of claim 1, wherein the molar ratio of (i) citric acid to (ii) urea compound is from about 8:1 to about 1:8.

4. A cosmetic composition according to claim 3 wherein the molar ratio of (i) citric acid to (ii) urea is from about 6:1 to about 1:6

5. The cosmetic composition of claim 4, wherein the molar ratio of (i) citric acid to (ii) urea compound is from about 5:1 to about 1:2.

6. The cosmetic composition of claim 1, wherein the weight ratio of (a) citric acid to (b) urea compound is from about 12:1 to about 1:12.

7. The cosmetic composition of claim 6, wherein the weight ratio of (a) citric acid to (b) urea compound is from about 10:1 to about 1:10.

8. The cosmetic composition of any one of claims 1-6 comprising from about 3 to about 7 weight percent of the combination of (e).

9. The cosmetic composition of any one of claims 1-6, wherein the urea compound is dimethylurea, hydroxyethylurea, urea, or a mixture thereof.

10. The cosmetic composition of any one of claims 1-6, wherein the cosmetic composition is a dissolved, non-emulsified composition until applied to a moist or wet keratinous substrate or placed in contact with water, whereupon the composition forms a lamellar phase in situ.

11. The cosmetic composition of any one of claims 1-6 wherein the polyhydric alcohol is selected from the group consisting of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, butylene glycol, hexylene glycol, pentylene glycol, diethylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, 1,3 propylene glycol, glycerin, and mixtures thereof.

12. The cosmetic composition according to any one of claim 1 to 6, wherein the one or more cationic surfactants are selected from cetrimonium chloride, stearyl trimethylammonium chloride, behenyl trimethylammonium methylsulfate, behenyl amidopropyl trimethylammonium methylsulfate, stearamidopropyl trimethylammonium chloride, eicosyl trimethylammonium chloride, distearyldimethylammonium chloride, dicetyl dimethylammonium chloride, tricetyl methylammonium chloride, oleamide propyldimethylamine oleamide propyldimethylamine, stearamide propyldimethylamine, oleyl hydroxyethyl imidazoline, stearamide propyldimethylamine, behenamide propyldiethylamine, behenamide ethyldiethylamine, behenamide ethyldimethylamine, arachidamide propyldimethylamine, arachidamide propyldiethylamine, arachidamide ethyldiethylamine, arachidamide ethyldimethylamine, and mixtures thereof.

13. The cosmetic composition of any one of claims 1-6, wherein the fatty compound is selected from the group consisting of fatty alcohols, fatty esters, fatty ethers, fatty acids, waxes, oils, derivatives thereof, and mixtures thereof.

14. The cosmetic composition of claim 13, wherein the fatty compound is a fatty ester comprising a fatty carbonate selected from the group consisting of: r is a metal ₁ O(C＝O)R ₂ Wherein R is a dialkyl carbonate of ₁ And R is ₂ Independently a straight or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl chain having from 1 to 30 carbon atoms, or having from 2 to 28 carbon atoms, or having from 4 to 25 carbon atoms, or having from 6 to 22 carbon atoms, preferably one or more aliphatic carbonates selected from the group consisting of: c14-15 dialkyl carbonate, dioctyl carbonate, diethyl carbonate, dihexyl carbonate, diethyl hexyl carbonate, dimethyl carbonatePhenyl phenethyl ethyl ester, dimethyl carbonate, dipropyl heptyl carbonate, dioctyl carbonate, and mixtures thereof.

15. The cosmetic composition of claim 13, wherein the fatty compound is a fatty compound selected from the group consisting of: cetyl esters, ballo oil (cetylstearyl octanoate), isopropyl myristate, isopropyl palmitate, benzoic acid C ₁₂ -C ₁₅ Alkyl esters, 2-ethylphenyl benzoate, isopropyl lanolate, hexyl laurate, diisopropyl adipate, isononyl isononanoate, oleyl erucate, 2-ethylhexyl palmitate, isostearyl isostearate, diisopropyl sebacate, caprylate, caprate or ricinoleate of alcohols or polyols, hydroxylated esters, dioctyl carbonate, pentaerythritol esters, diisostearyl malate, neopentyl glycol dioctate, dibutyl sebacate, di-C _12-13 Alkyl malates, distearyl dimercaptain, distearyl adipate, diisobehenyl adipate, diisononyladipate, diisostearyl dimercaptain, diisostearyl fumarate, and mixtures thereof.

16. The cosmetic composition of claim 13, wherein the fatty compound is a fatty alcohol selected from the group consisting of: decyl alcohol, undecyl alcohol, dodecyl alcohol, myristyl alcohol, lauryl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, cetostearyl alcohol, isostearyl alcohol, isocetyl alcohol, behenyl alcohol, linalool, oleyl alcohol, cis-4-t-butylcyclohexanol, isotridecyl alcohol, myristyl alcohol, and mixtures thereof.

17. The cosmetic composition of claim 13, wherein the fatty compound is a fatty ether selected from the group consisting of: polyoxyethylene cetyl/stearyl ether, polyoxyethylene cholesterol ether, polyoxyethylene laurate or dilaurate, polyoxyethylene stearate or distearate, polyoxyethylene lauryl or stearyl ether, dioctyl ether, bicetyl ether distearyl ether, dodecyl ether, dilauryl ether, dimyristoyl ether, diisononyl ether, and mixtures thereof.

18. The cosmetic composition of claim 13 wherein the fatty compound is a fatty acid selected from the group consisting of myristic acid, lauric acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, behenic acid, arachidonic acid, oleic acid, isostearic acid, sebacic acid, and mixtures thereof.

19. The cosmetic composition of any one of claims 1-6, which is substantially free of water.

20. The cosmetic composition of any one of claims 1-6, wherein the composition is a hair care composition.

21. A cosmetic composition for treating keratinous substrates comprising:

(a) About 20 to about 95 weight percent of a polyol selected from the group consisting of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, butylene glycol, hexylene glycol, pentylene glycol, diethylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, 1, 3-propanediol, glycerin, and mixtures thereof;

(b) About 5 to about 70 weight percent of one or more monohydric alcohols having 2 to 6 carbon atoms;

wherein the weight ratio of polyol to one or more monohydric alcohol (polyol: one or more monohydric alcohol) is from 20:1 to 1:20;

(c) About 0.1 to about 10 weight percent of one or more cationic surfactants;

(d) About 0.1 to about 15 wt% of one or more fatty compounds selected from the group consisting of: fatty alcohols, fatty esters, fatty ethers, fatty acids, waxes, oils, derivatives thereof, and mixtures thereof; and

(e) About 1 to about 15 weight percent of a combination of:

(i) Citric acid, and

(ii) Urea compounds selected from the group consisting of dimethylurea, hydroxyethylurea, urea and mixtures thereof,

wherein the molar ratio of (i) citric acid to (ii) urea is from about 10:0.5 to about 0.5:10, and all weight percentages are based on the total weight of the cosmetic composition.

22. The cosmetic composition of claim 21, wherein the molar ratio of (i) citric acid to (ii) urea compound is from about 5:1 to about 1:2.

23. A method of producing a cosmetic composition, the method comprising:

(I) Producing a eutectic solvent system comprising:

(i) Citric acid, and

(ii) The urea-based compound is used as a catalyst,

wherein the molar ratio of (i) citric acid to (ii) urea is from about 10:0.5 to about 0.5:10; and

(II) adding the (I) eutectic solvent system to a binder composition comprising:

(a) About 20 to about 95 weight percent polyol, based on the weight of the base composition;

(b) About 5 to about 70 weight percent of one or more monohydric alcohols having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, based on the weight of the binder composition;

wherein the weight ratio of polyol to one or more monohydric alcohol (polyol: one or more monohydric alcohol) is from 20:1 to 1:20;

(c) From about 0.1 to about 10 weight percent of one or more cationic surfactants, based on the weight of the binder composition, and

(d) From about 0.1 to about 20 weight percent of one or more fatty compounds, based on the weight of the base composition.

24. The method of claim 23, further comprising:

-forming (I) a eutectic solvent system by heating a mixture of (I) citric acid and (ii) urea-based compounds at a temperature of about 70 ℃ to about 90 ℃.

25. A hair care composition prepared by the method of claim 23.

26. A method of treating hair comprising:

(I) Optionally, applying a shampoo to the hair;

(II) optionally rinsing the hair to remove at least a portion of the shampoo;

(III) applying a cosmetic composition comprising:

(a) About 20 to about 95 weight percent polyol;

(b) About 5 to about 70 weight percent of one or more monohydric alcohols having 2 to 6 carbon atoms;

wherein the weight ratio of polyol to one or more monohydric alcohol (polyol: one or more monohydric alcohol) is from 20:1 to 1:20;

(c) About 0.1 to about 10 weight percent of one or more cationic surfactants;

(d) About 0.1 to about 20 weight percent of one or more fatty compounds; and

(e) About 1 to about 15 weight percent of a combination of:

(i) Citric acid, and

(ii) The urea-based compound is used as a catalyst,

wherein the molar ratio of (i) citric acid to (ii) urea is from about 10:0.5 to about 0.5:10, and all weight percentages are based on the total weight of the cosmetic composition; and

(IV) optionally rinsing the hair to remove at least a portion of the cosmetic composition.

27. The method of claim 26, wherein the method:

-providing curl control to hair; and/or

-improving manageability of the hair; and/or

-conditioning hair; and/or

-providing straightness to the hair; and/or

-protecting hair from damage; and/or

-making glossy.
