The display panel in the invention also comprises a memory, and the memory stores a lookup table.
Specifically, the working process of the display panel provided by the embodiment of the invention comprises a data writing frame and a retaining frame, and the driving method of the display panel comprises pre-storing a lookup table, wherein the lookup table is a corresponding table of standard gray scale values and adjusting voltages, and optionally, different standard gray scale values correspond to different adjusting voltages. The data writing frame includes a data writing phase and a light emitting phase which are sequentially performed, and in the data writing phase, the data writing module 10 and the compensation module 30 are turned on, the data writing module 10 writes a data signal to the driving transistor M0, and the compensation module 30 compensates a threshold voltage of the driving transistor M0. It should be noted that, in the lookup table shown in table 1, the standard gray-scale values relate to 0-255, and the adjustment voltages include adjustment voltages corresponding to the gray-scale values of 0-255, that is, each standard gray-scale value has a corresponding adjustment voltage, which is beneficial to improving the accuracy of the adjustment voltages. Of course, in some other embodiments of the present invention, the number of standard gray-scale values may be reduced according to practical situations, so as to simplify the complexity of searching and improve the searching efficiency.
In an alternative embodiment of the present invention, the look-up table also includes a plurality of luminance values (e.g., DBV1 in Table 2 below DBV 2....dbv 10); the lookup table contains the number of regulated voltages a, a=m×n, the A regulation voltages of the lookup table (DC 1 in Table 2 below dc2. DC 50) is combined by M standard gray scale values and N luminance values corresponding to an image;
referring to fig. 3, the method for obtaining the adjustment voltage further includes obtaining a brightness value of an image to be displayed, searching a standard gray-scale value and a brightness value of the image from a lookup table, and obtaining an adjustment voltage corresponding to the standard gray-scale value and the brightness, wherein fig. 3 is another flowchart of the method for driving the display panel according to the embodiment of the invention.
TABLE 2
Specifically, in the driving method of the display panel provided in the embodiment of the present invention, when the adjustment voltage is written into the driving transistor M0 by the data writing module 10 in the hold frame, the adjustment voltage is selected while taking into consideration the standard gray scale value and the brightness value corresponding to the display image, and the adjustment voltages of the image under a certain gray scale and a certain brightness are stored in the lookup table, and optionally, the adjustment voltages corresponding to different standard gray scales under different brightnesses are not identical. Before writing the adjustment voltage to the driving transistor M0, the corresponding adjustment voltage is found from the lookup table according to the standard gray scale value and the display brightness of the display image, and then written into the corresponding driving transistor M0. Meanwhile, the adjusting voltage determined by considering the influences of the standard gray scale value and the display brightness value is more accurate, so that the problem of picture flickering is improved in a targeted manner, and the display effect of a product is improved.
It will be appreciated that table 2 above is merely illustrative of a look-up table, and is not intended to limit the number of standard gray-scale values and the number of luminance values actually included in the look-up table. In some other embodiments of the present invention, the number of standard gray-scale values and luminance values in the lookup table may be adjusted according to the actual situation. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the number of standard gray-scale values in the lookup table is less than or equal to 256.
When the number of the standard gray scale values is equal to 256, corresponding adjusting voltages can be found for different standard gray scale values, so that the obtained adjusting voltage values are more accurate. Considering that the more the number of parameters in the lookup table, the longer the time required for the lookup will be, and the higher the requirement on the display panel will be, when the number of standard gray-scale values is less than 256, the number of parameters contained in the lookup table is advantageously reduced, so that the time required for looking up the adjustment voltage is advantageously reduced to a certain extent, and thus the driving efficiency of the display panel is advantageously improved and the compensation efficiency of the frame is maintained.
Referring to table 2 above, in an alternative embodiment of the present invention, the number of standard gray-scale values in the lookup table is less than or equal to the number of luminance values.
Specifically, table 2 above shows a scheme in which the lookup includes 5 standard gray-scale values and 10 luminance values, and in some other embodiments of the present invention, the number of standard gray-scale values and luminance values in the lookup table may be set to be other as long as the number of standard gray-scale values is less than or equal to the number of luminance values. Optionally, the number of luminance values is set to be smaller, for example, the number of luminance values is set to be 10 as shown in table 2, and the number of standard gray-scale values is set to be 10 or less, so that the number of parameters in the lookup table is greatly reduced, which is beneficial to greatly improving the query efficiency of the adjustment voltage and further improving the driving efficiency of the display panel.
In an alternative embodiment of the present invention, with continued reference to tables 1 and 2, the plurality of standard gray-scale values in the lookup table are arranged in order from small to large or from large to small, and the absolute value of the difference between adjacent two standard gray-scale values is greater than or equal to 2.
Specifically, in the driving method of the display panel provided by the embodiment of the invention, when the standard gray scale values stored in the memory are set, different standard gray scale values are arranged in the order from big to small or from small to big, so that the searching process is regular and circulating when the corresponding standard gray scale values are searched from the lookup table, thereby being beneficial to simplifying the searching complexity, improving the searching efficiency of searching the adjustment voltage and further being beneficial to improving the driving efficiency of the display panel. In addition, the number of the standard gray scale values can be reduced by at least half by separating two adjacent standard gray scale values by at least 2, and when the number of the standard gray scale values in the lookup table is reduced, the complexity of searching the lookup table is simplified, so that the searching efficiency is improved.
In an alternative embodiment of the present invention, the maximum standard gray-scale value of the plurality of standard gray-scale values in the lookup table is less than or equal to 180.
In view of the problem that display abnormality such as flicker is most likely to occur in the low-frequency display stage because the refresh frequency is lowered and the time for holding the frame is prolonged during the low-frequency display of the display panel. Further, the phenomenon of abnormal conditions such as flickering is more remarkable at a low gray level. When the standard gray scale value of the high gray scale is set in the lookup table, the adjustment voltage corresponding to the standard gray scale value of the high gray scale may not be involved or is hardly involved when the adjustment voltage is queried in the driving method of the display panel, and at this time, the lookup difficulty is only increased and the lookup efficiency is reduced when the standard gray scale value of the high gray scale is increased in the lookup table. Therefore, the embodiment of the invention sets the standard gray scale value in the lookup table to 180 or below, and specifically compensates the adjustment voltage under the condition of low gray scale, thereby avoiding the appearance that the lookup difficulty is increased and the lookup efficiency is reduced due to the setting of the standard gray scale value with high gray scale in the lookup table, and being beneficial to reducing the lookup difficulty of the adjustment voltage in the display panel driving method and improving the lookup efficiency of the adjustment voltage.
Table 3 is another embodiment of the lookup table provided in the embodiment of the present invention, wherein the maximum value of the standard gray-scale values in table 3 is 180, and two gray-scale values of 64 and 32 are further set, and the two gray-scale values are all gray-scale values with higher occurrence frequency when the adjustment voltage is compensated in the driving method.
TABLE 3 Table 3
In order to simplify the searching difficulty and improve the searching efficiency, the embodiment of the invention has the advantages that the number of the standard gray scale values set in the searching table is smaller, all the gray scale values of 0-255 cannot be covered, and when the gray scale value corresponding to the display image is not reflected in the searching table, the embodiment of the invention can calculate the regulating voltage corresponding to the gray scale value not set in the searching table by adopting the following method.
In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the standard gray scale values in the lookup table are G 1、G2 and G 3 in sequence from small to large, wherein G 1>0,G3 is less than or equal to 255;
The method for searching the standard gray scale value of the image from the lookup table comprises the steps of calculating the number proportion of the sub-pixels with the gray scale value of 0~G 1 in the image, setting the number proportion of the sub-pixels with the gray scale value of G 1+1~G2 in the image as A, setting the number proportion of the sub-pixels with the gray scale value of G 2+1~G3 in the image as B;
when A is larger than or equal to a first preset value, the gray level G 1 is used as a current standard gray level, when A is smaller than the first preset value and B is larger than or equal to a second preset value, the gray level G 2 is used as the current standard gray level, and when A is smaller than the first preset value and B is smaller than the second preset value, the gray level G 3 is used as the current standard gray level.
Optionally, the first preset value and the second preset value in the method can be flexibly set according to actual conditions, and optionally, the first preset value is 80% and the second preset value is 60%, so that the accuracy of regulating voltage is improved, and abnormal phenomena such as flicker and the like are improved. In some other embodiments of the present invention, the first preset value and the second preset value may be set to be other, which is not particularly limited in the present invention. Taking a lookup table corresponding to Table 3 as an example, assuming that the ratio of the number of sub-pixels with gray-scale values between 0 and 32 in the whole display screen to the total number of sub-pixels is A, the ratio of the number of sub-pixels with gray-scale values between 33 and 64 in the whole display screen to the total number of sub-pixels is B, the ratio of the number of sub-pixels with gray-scale values between 65 and 180 in the whole display screen to the total number of sub-pixels is C, when A is more than or equal to 80%, the adjusting voltage corresponding to the standard gray-scale value 32 in the lookup table is used as the adjusting voltage to be selected currently, when A is more than 80% and B is more than or equal to 60%, the adjusting voltage corresponding to the standard gray-scale value 64 in the lookup table is used as the adjusting voltage to be selected currently, and when A is less than 80% and B is less than 60%. When the method is adopted to select the adjusting voltage corresponding to the standard gray scale value which does not appear in the lookup table, the accuracy of the adjusting voltage can be ensured to a certain extent, the possibility of abnormal phenomena such as flicker and the like of the display panel is reduced, the number of parameters in the lookup table can be reduced, the lookup difficulty is simplified, and the lookup efficiency is improved.
It should be noted that, in table 3, 180, 64, and 32 are selected as the standard gray-scale values, and in some other embodiments of the invention, the values and the number of the standard gray-scale values selected in the lookup table may be adjusted according to the actual situation.
In addition to calculating the adjustment voltage corresponding to the standard gray-scale value not set in the lookup table by the above method, the following method may be used for calculation.
Calculating the number duty ratio of the sub-pixels with gray scale values of 0~G 1 in the image, setting the number duty ratio of the sub-pixels with gray scale values of G 1+1~G2 in the image as A, setting the number duty ratio of the sub-pixels with gray scale values of G 1+1~G2 in the image as B, and calculating the number duty ratio of the sub-pixels with gray scale values of G 2 +1-G3 in the image as C;
Comparing the duty ratio A, B with the duty ratio C, selecting the maximum gray scale value in the gray scale range with the maximum duty ratio as the standard gray scale value, and taking the adjustment voltage corresponding to the standard gray scale value in the lookup table as the current adjustment voltage to be selected. For example, assuming that the duty ratio cmax, G3 is selected as the standard gray-scale value, and the adjustment voltage corresponding to G3 is searched from the lookup table as the adjustment voltage to be selected. The method can also improve the selection accuracy of the regulating voltage to a certain extent, and avoid abnormal display phenomena such as flicker and the like of the display panel.
It should be noted that, in the above method, only three standard gray-scale values are included in the lookup table as an example, when the lookup table includes more than three standard gray-scale values, the corresponding adjustment voltages may be selected according to the above method, for example, when the lookup table includes four standard gray-scale values, the standard gray-scale values G 4 are added based on the above method, and the ratio of the number of sub-pixels with gray-scale values within the range of G 3+1~G4 to the total number of sub-pixels is set, and the corresponding preset values are set.
It should be noted that fig. 1 only shows a block diagram of a pixel circuit according to an embodiment of the present invention, and the actual circuit structure can refer to fig. 4, 5 or 6, wherein fig. 4 is a schematic diagram of a connection circuit between the pixel circuit and the light emitting element D according to an embodiment of the present invention, fig. 5 is a schematic diagram of another connection circuit between the pixel circuit and the light emitting element D according to an embodiment of the present invention, fig. 6 is a schematic diagram of another connection circuit between the pixel circuit and the light emitting element D according to an embodiment of the present invention, and in an embodiment of fig. 5 and 6, the driving circuit further includes a first reset module 50, and the first reset module 50 is connected to the gate of the driving transistor M0, that is, connected to the first node N1 for resetting the first node N1 before the data writing stage. In the embodiment shown in fig. 6, the driving circuit further comprises a second reset module 60 for resetting the anode of the light emitting element D.
The embodiment shown in fig. 4 corresponds to a refinement of the module structure in the embodiment shown in fig. 1, and the transistors included in the first reset module 50 in the embodiment shown in fig. 5 are oxide transistors. Considering the light emitting period, the driving transistor M0 may generate a leakage current phenomenon through the first reset module 50, affecting the potential of the first node N1, thereby affecting the bias state of the driving transistor M0. When the first reset module 50 employs an oxide transistor, the oxide transistor can effectively suppress the leakage current of the driving transistor M0 and reduce the influence on the bias state of the driving transistor M0, so that the display abnormality such as flicker of the display panel can be improved to some extent.
One difference between the embodiment of fig. 6 and the embodiment of fig. 5 is that the compensation module 30 of fig. 6 employs oxide transistors. Since the compensation module 30 is also connected to the first node N1, the driving transistor M0 may also affect the bias state of the driving transistor M0 by the leakage current of the compensation module 30. When the compensation module 30 is constituted by an oxide transistor, the leakage current of the driving transistor M0 can be suppressed to some extent, and the influence on the bias state of the driving transistor M0 can be reduced, so that the display abnormality such as flicker of the display panel can be improved to some extent.
Fig. 7 is a flowchart of another method for driving a display panel according to an embodiment of the invention, please refer to fig. 7, in which in an alternative embodiment of the invention, in the same holding frame, the number of times of writing the adjustment voltage to the driving transistor M0 through the data writing module 10 is n, n is not less than 2.
Specifically, in the low-frequency display stage, the holding frame is maintained for a longer time, and the bias state of the driving transistor M0 can be maintained for a limited time through a process of adjusting the voltage compensation once, so that when the data writing module 10 writes the adjustment voltage to the driving transistor M0 at least twice in the holding frame, the bias state of the driving transistor M0 in the holding frame is kept within a certain range, for example, the bias state of the driving transistor M0 in the whole holding frame is similar to the bias state of the driving transistor M0 in the light-emitting stage of the data writing frame, and therefore, the phenomenon of flicker and the like caused by the bias state difference of the driving transistor M0 in the low-frequency display stage can be more effectively avoided, and the display effect of the display panel is more beneficial to improvement.
It should be noted that, the number of times of writing the adjustment voltage to the driving transistor M0 by the data writing module 10 in the same holding frame may be flexibly adjusted according to the length of the holding frame, and when the length of the holding frame is long, the number of times of writing the adjustment voltage may be appropriately increased in the holding frame, and when the length of the holding frame is short, the number of times of writing the adjustment voltage may be appropriately decreased in the holding frame.
Fig. 8 is a schematic structural diagram of a display panel according to an embodiment of the present invention, please refer to fig. 8, and further provides a display panel 100 driven by the driving method according to any of the above embodiments based on the same inventive concept. Alternatively, the display panel includes a plurality of sub-pixels P each of which emits light by being driven by the pixel circuit in the above-described embodiment.
When the driving method provided by the embodiment is adopted to drive the display panel, in order to reduce the light-emitting brightness difference of the light-emitting elements of the data writing frame and the holding frame, the data writing module writes the adjusting voltage into the driving transistor in the holding frame to further adjust the bias state of the driving transistor, thereby effectively reducing the flicker phenomenon of the display picture and improving the display effect. In particular, because the memory stores the lookup table, in the driving method of the display panel provided by the embodiment of the invention, before the maintenance frame is written with the adjustment voltage through the data writing module, firstly, the image to be displayed and the standard gray scale value corresponding to the image are obtained, the adjustment voltage corresponding to the standard gray scale value is searched in the lookup table, and then the adjustment voltage is written into the driving transistor. Therefore, different adjusting voltages are selected according to different standard gray scale values, the bias state of the driving transistor is adjusted in a differentiated mode, compared with a mode of adjusting images corresponding to different gray scales by adopting the same adjusting voltage, the compensation precision is improved, the problem of insufficient compensation or excessive compensation is avoided, the problem of flickering caused by different bias states of the driving transistor is avoided, and the display effect of a display product, particularly the display effect in a low-frequency state, is improved.
Fig. 9 is a schematic structural diagram of a display device according to an embodiment of the present invention, please refer to fig. 9, and further provides a display device 200 according to the same inventive concept, including the display panel 100 according to the above embodiment of the present invention. When the display vertical panel is driven, a holding frame is introduced after a data writing frame, in the holding frame, according to an image to be displayed and a standard gray scale value corresponding to the image, an adjusting voltage is selected to be written into a driving transistor, and the adjusting voltage is written into the driving transistor by a data writing module, so that the bias state of the driving transistor is flexibly adjusted, the light-emitting brightness of a light-emitting element in the data writing frame is basically consistent with that in the holding frame, abnormal phenomena such as flicker are avoided, and the display effect of the display device in a low-frequency display stage is improved.
It should be noted that, the embodiments of the display device provided by the present invention may refer to the embodiments of the display panel, and will not be described herein. The display device provided by the embodiment of the invention can be embodied as any product or component with a display function, such as a mobile phone, a tablet personal computer, a television, a display, a notebook computer, a digital photo frame, a navigator and the like.

In the related art, in the low frequency display stage, the gate potential of the driving transistor is lowered, the bias state is changed, and the display of the light emitting element is abnormal. Therefore, the invention introduces the holding frame after the data writing frame, writes the adjusting voltage into the driving transistor through the data writing module in the holding frame to adjust the bias state of the driving transistor, thereby the light-emitting brightness of the light-emitting element in the data writing frame and the holding frame is basically consistent, and the abnormal phenomena such as flicker and the like are avoided. In particular, in the holding frame, the adjustment voltage is not fixed, but corresponds to the image to be displayed and the standard gray scale value corresponding to the image, that is, when the gray scales corresponding to the display picture are different, the value of the adjustment voltage will be different, so that the display effect of the display picture under different gray scales is improved.
