In the AMOLED display panel, characteristics of a TFT (Thin Film Transistor) and an OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) are not consistent, which easily causes a phenomenon of brightness inconsistency under the same gray scale and data voltage, that is, a Mura phenomenon. The prior art methods for Mura compensation are mainly divided into two main categories, i.e., internal compensation and external compensation. The internal compensation is a compensation of a pixel sub-circuit built by using a TFT inside a pixel, and the external compensation is a compensation method of sensing an electrical or optical characteristic of a pixel by an external driving circuit or device.
The external compensation method includes an optical extraction technique, also called Demura, which specifically processes the display module with Mura defect through a sub-pixel optical imaging technique and a software algorithm to eliminate the Mura phenomenon. At the present stage, the Demura structure is simple, and the method is flexible and widely adopted.
Referring to fig. 1, in the prior art, when performing Demura compensation, a gamma characteristic of a display panel is usually used to determine a compensation value, an average brightness under a reference gray scale is given as a target brightness, a gray scale compensation value or a DAC (Digital to analog converter) value is set for each pixel point of a full panel according to the set target brightness for direct compensation, or a binary one-time or unitary one-time fitting relationship between a display gray scale and a compensation gray scale is used to obtain the compensation value for compensation under a standard brightness of the pixel point by using the set target brightness.
However, in this brightness compensation method, the compensation effect between each pixel point is different, so that the brightness difference still exists between each pixel point. The problem that brightness difference exists among pixel points due to different compensation effects of the pixel points after brightness compensation of a display panel in the prior art is solved. A solution for brightness compensation of a display panel is desired to solve the above problems.
Therefore, the embodiment of the application provides a brightness compensation method of a display panel and a related device. First, a method for compensating brightness of a display panel according to an embodiment of the present application will be described.
Fig. 2 is a flowchart illustrating a brightness compensation method for a display panel according to an embodiment of the present application. As shown in fig. 2, the method may include the steps of:
s210, obtaining an original gray scale and an actual parameter value of each pixel point in the display panel, wherein the actual parameter value comprises an actual gamma value and/or actual display brightness under a preset reference gray scale, the preset reference gray scale is a preset reference gray scale in a target brightness model, and the target brightness model is used for performing full-screen compensation on each pixel point according to the target brightness under the preset reference gray scale.
S220, calculating a gray scale compensation value corresponding to the original gray scale of each pixel point according to the actual parameters.
And S230, performing brightness compensation by taking the gray scale compensation value of each pixel point as the actual gray scale value of each pixel point.
The method and the device can acquire the original gray scale of each pixel point in the display panel; calculating gray scale compensation values corresponding to the original gray scales of all the pixel points; therefore, the gray scale compensation value of each pixel point is used as the actual gray scale value of each pixel point to carry out brightness compensation. The gray scale compensation value is obtained according to the actual parameter value of each pixel, the actual parameter value comprises the actual gamma value and/or the actual display brightness under the reference gray scale, the reference gray scale is the reference gray scale preset in the target brightness model, and the target brightness model is used for performing full-screen compensation on each pixel according to the target brightness under the reference gray scale. Therefore, gray scale brightness compensation is carried out on each pixel point according to actual parameters influencing self brightness display, compensation effects among the pixel points are consistent, and brightness display differences are eliminated, so that the problem that brightness differences exist among the pixel points due to different compensation effects among the pixel points in the prior art is solved.
In some embodiments, in S210, when the target content needs to be displayed on the display panel, the display panel receives an image frame corresponding to the target content to be displayed, and based on the image frame, a brightness level required for displaying the target content may be determined, that is, for each content that can be displayed on the display panel, each pixel point of the display panel has a determined original gray level.
The actual parameter value is determined by the influence factor of the brightness difference between the pixels of the display panel, wherein the actual gamma value of each pixel refers to the actual relation between the gray scale and the brightness of each pixel.
The actual gamma value and the actual display brightness of each pixel point can be obtained by testing the display panel. For example, a plurality of different gray scales may be selected as the test gray scale, the actually measured brightness of each pixel point under the test gray scale is obtained by shooting with a CCD Camera (Charge Coupled Device Camera), the plurality of test gray scales and the actually measured brightness corresponding thereto are fitted to form an actual gamma curve of each pixel point, and the actual gamma value of each pixel point can be obtained according to the actual gamma curve. In some examples, the test gray scale may further include a preset reference gray scale, and the measured brightness of the preset reference gray scale is the actual display brightness of each pixel point under the preset reference gray scale.
It should be noted that the preset reference gray level is preset in the target brightness model, and may be the highest gray level under standard brightness, for example, the 255 gray level, or other gray levels, for example, the 192 gray level. The target brightness model is a model used when performing full-screen Demura by using the average brightness as the target brightness in a screen display area of a display panel.
The target brightness model refers to a preset reference gray level N under a standard Gamma value (Gamma)typicalTarget luminance L oftypicalThe obtained input gray level N and the overall brightness L of the display panelnThe relationship (2) of (c). Namely, the target luminance model is:
Ln=(N/Ntypical)Gamma*Ltypical (1)
wherein L isnThe overall brightness of the display panel under Gamma with a gray scale of N is also known as the display brightness of each pixel point in the display panel, LtypicalFor presetting a reference gray scale NtypicalThe target brightness of (1).
Specifically, in practice, the actual gamma value of each pixel point may have a certain difference from the standard gamma value, and the actual display brightness of each pixel point under the same gray scale is also different from the brightness obtained by the target brightness model.
Illustratively, refer to fig. 3, wherein the curve of Ln1 is a gamma curve formed by a target brightness model, and the functional relationship thereof satisfies Ln1 ═ g(N/255)2.2600nit, Ln2 and Ln3 are gamma curves of different pixel points obtained by testing according to actual brightness, wherein points in the Ln2 curve meet the functional relationship Ln2 ═ (N/255)2.2700nit, Ln3 curve satisfies the functional relationship Ln1 ═ (N/255)2.5*600nit。
Taking the 192 gray level as an example, the overall brightness (i.e. average brightness) of the display panel is about 350nit, but is actually affected by the difference between the maximum brightness of the pixels, for example, the maximum display brightness in Ln2 is not 600nit, but 700nit, in this case, the actual display brightness is 400nit at the actual 192 gray level. And Ln3 shows an actual gamma value of 2.5, which is different from the standard gamma 2.2 satisfied by the target brightness model, that is, actually, due to the gamma difference between the pixels, the actual display brightness at 192 gray levels is 300 nit.
Therefore, it can be considered that the influence factors of the brightness difference between the pixels mainly include: gamma difference exists between the pixel points, namely, the mapping relation between the gray scale and the brightness of the pixel points is different; the display brightness corresponding to the reference gray scale between the pixel points is different.
Therefore, in order to eliminate the brightness difference between the pixel points, the actual gamma value and/or the actual display brightness under the preset reference gray scale can be used as the actual parameter value, and then the gray scale compensation value corresponding to the original gray scale of each pixel point is calculated according to the obtained actual parameter.
In some embodiments, the gray scale compensation value is a gray scale value that is actually input to eliminate the brightness display difference of each pixel point and achieve the display brightness corresponding to the original gray scale. The process of calculating the gray scale compensation value may include:
and calculating to obtain first compensation gray scales respectively corresponding to the original gray scales of the pixel points according to the fitting relation between the input gray scales and the compensation gray scales of the pixel points. The actual parameter of each pixel point is the input of the fitting relation, the original gray scale of each pixel point is the input gray scale, and the first compensation gray scale is the gray scale compensation value.
It should be noted that the fitting relationship between the input gray scale and the compensation gray scale of each pixel point can be obtained by fitting before the display panel leaves the factory. That is, before S210, the method for compensating luminance of a display panel may further include:
constructing a target brightness model between the overall brightness and the input gray scale of the display panel; constructing an actual brightness model between the pixel brightness of each pixel and the actual gray scale of each pixel; and processing the target brightness model and the actual brightness model under the condition that the overall brightness is equal to the pixel brightness of each pixel point to obtain the fitting relation between the input gray scale and the compensation gray scale of each pixel point.
The sequence of constructing the target brightness model and the actual brightness model can be executed simultaneously, or the sequence can be changed, so long as the actual brightness model and the target brightness model can be obtained before the fitting relationship between the input gray scale and the compensation gray scale of each pixel point is obtained through processing.
The target brightness model is the aforementioned model, which takes the average brightness of the display panel as the target brightness and is used for compensating the full-screen display area of the display panel. On the basis, an actual brightness model of each pixel point can be constructed according to the brightness data of each pixel point obtained through testing, the actual brightness model of each pixel point is different, and the actual brightness model can describe the relationship between the brightness of the pixel point and the actual gray scale under the actual gamma value of the pixel point.
The actual brightness model of each pixel point can be expressed by the following formula (2), namely
Ln1=(N1/Ntypical)Gamma1*Lreality (2)
Wherein Gamma1 is the actual Gamma value of the pixel, Ln1The brightness of pixel point of gray scale N1 under Gamma1, LrealityFor presetting a reference gray scale NtypicalThe actual brightness of the panel.
In formulas (1) and (2), L is the case where the overall brightness of the display panel is equal to the actual pixel brightness of each pixeln=Ln1Under the condition (2), the relation between the input gray scale and the actual gray scale of each pixel point can be obtained by solving, and the actual gray scaleThe order is to compensate the brightness display difference of the pixels, and finally the compensation gray-scale value actually output by each pixel.
It should be noted that the application of the specific fitting relationship needs to be determined according to the obtained actual parameters of each pixel point.
In some examples, when the actual parameters are the actual gamma value of each pixel and the actual display brightness of the pixel under the preset reference gray scale, during brightness compensation, the actual gamma value of each pixel and the actual display brightness under the preset reference gray scale may be obtained by looking up a table, and then the input gray scale and the actual parameter value are substituted into a formula to be calculated according to a fitting relationship, that is, the following formula (3), so as to obtain the compensation gray scale value of each pixel.
Wherein N1 is the gray scale compensation value of the pixel, Gamma1 is the actual Gamma value of the pixel, N is the original gray scale of the pixel, Gamma is the preset Gamma value in the target brightness model, N is the gray scale compensation value of the pixel, N is the actual Gamma value of the pixel, N is the original gray scale of the pixel, and the Gamma is the preset Gamma value in the target brightness modeltypicalTo preset a reference gray level, LtypicalPresetting a reference gray scale N when using the target brightness modeltypicalTarget luminance of lower, LrealityIs the actual display brightness.
It should be noted that the preset reference gray level N is described abovetypicalA preset Gamma value Gamma and a target brightness LtypicalThe predetermined reference gray level may be the highest gray level under the standard brightness, or may be other typical gray levels, such as 192 gray levels. The preset gamma value may be, for example, gamma 2.2.
In some examples, for example, when the actual brightness difference is small under the preset reference gray scale of each pixel, even the actual brightness is the same, the formula (3) is simplified to the following formula (4), and only the actual gamma value is used as the actual parameter, and the input gray scale and the actual gamma value are substituted into the formula (4) for calculation to obtain the gray scale compensation value of each pixel.
Wherein N1 is a gray scale compensation value of the pixel point, Gamma1 is an actual Gamma value of the pixel point, N is an original gray scale of the pixel point, Gamma is a preset Gamma value in the target brightness model, and N is a preset Gamma value in the target brightness modeltypicalThe preset reference gray scale is obtained.
In some examples, for example, under the condition that the actual gamma value of each pixel is the same as or very similar to the standard gamma value, the influence factor of the display unevenness of each pixel is only the actual brightness difference of each pixel under the preset reference gray scale, that is, the actual parameter value may be set as the actual display brightness of each pixel under the preset reference gray scale, and the input gray scale and the actual display brightness are substituted into the following formula (5) obtained by simplifying the formula (3) to calculate, so as to obtain the compensation gray scale value of each pixel.
Wherein N1 is the gray scale compensation value of the pixel, N is the original gray scale of the pixel, Gamma is the preset Gamma value in the target brightness model, and LtypicalPresetting a reference gray scale N when using the target brightness modeltypicalThe target luminance of LrealityIs the actual display brightness.
Gamma and L as described abovetypicalMay be constant, for example Gamma may be 2.2. On the basis, the actual display brightness of each pixel point under the preset reference gray scale can be set in multiple sections in different intervals, for example, L is used from 0 gray scale to 128 gray scalereality1129 to 255 grayscales using Lreality2Therefore, the test time of actual display brightness of each pixel point can be simplified, and the effect of brightness compensation is achieved.
In some examples, the determined data signal value of each pixel point can be finally obtained according to the gray scale compensation value of each pixel point, and the data signal can be provided for the driving transistor of the pixel circuit in each pixel point according to the determined data signal value, so that the gray scale of each pixel point reaches the gray scale compensation value, and therefore brightness compensation of each pixel point according to each gray scale compensation value is achieved, the problem that brightness difference exists among the pixel points due to different compensation effects of each pixel point in the prior art can be solved, and the display effect of the display panel is improved.
