The light-emitting keyboard 10 may include a plurality of keys 12 and a backlight module 14. The plurality of keys 12 are respectively disposed at corresponding positions of the backlight module 14, and the backlight module 14 provides light to illuminate the plurality of keys 12. The backlight module 14 may include a substrate layer 16, a light source 18, a light guide layer 20, a protection layer 22, and a dimming layer 24. Light guiding layer 20 may have a plurality of openings 26 and protective layer 22 may have a plurality of elevated regions 28. The backlight module 14 in fig. 2 only illustrates a part of the structure corresponding to a single key 12, and the number of the light sources 18, the dimming layer 24, the openings 26 and the raised areas 28 in actual operation corresponds to the number of keys 12, and is not limited to the embodiment shown in fig. 2.
The substrate layer 16 may be provided with a plurality of lines 30. When a plurality of light sources 18 are disposed on the substrate layer 16, each light source 18 is located below a corresponding key 12 and electrically connected to the wires 30. The light guide layer 20 may be located above the substrate layer 16, and the plurality of openings 26 respectively correspond to the plurality of light sources 18, so that the illumination light of each light source 18 can be projected to each key 12 through the corresponding opening 26. The backlight module 14 is disposed below each key 12 with a set of light modulation layers 24, such as the first side 281 and/or the second side 282 of the raised area 28, for adjusting the illumination range of the illumination light of each light source 18 projected to the corresponding key 12. It should be noted that the center region of the light-adjusting layer 24 should preferably be aligned with the center region of the light source 18, so that the two opposite sides of the key 12 have uniform brightness. Each set of dimming layers 24 can be a single layer coating or a multi-layer coating, depending on design requirements. In this embodiment, the light modulating layer 24 is a light reflecting ink coating 24A, such as white or light colored ink, disposed on the first side 281 of the elevated regions 28. Referring to fig. 3, fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view of a key 12 according to another embodiment of the present invention. In this embodiment, the dimming layer 24 is also a reflective ink coating 24A, but is disposed on the second side 282 of the raised area 28. In practice, the projection of the dimming layer 24 on the substrate layer 16 may be circular, square or any shape, preferably a symmetrical shape.

In the embodiment shown in fig. 5, both the light reflecting ink coating 24A and the light blocking ink coating 24B are disposed on a first side 281 of the raised areas 28. In the embodiment shown in fig. 6, both the reflective ink coating 24A and the light blocking ink coating 24B are disposed on the second side 282 of the raised area 28.
In addition, the dimming layer 24 may be a single light-blocking ink coating 24B. Referring to fig. 7 and 8, fig. 7 and 8 are cross-sectional structural views of a key 12 according to another embodiment of the present invention. As in the embodiment shown in fig. 7, the light blocking ink coating 24B is disposed on a first side 281 of the raised area 28, and the second side 282 is free of other coatings. In the embodiment shown in fig. 8, the light blocking ink coating 24B is disposed on the second side 282 of the raised area 28, while the first side 281 is free of other coatings. In the embodiment shown in fig. 7 and 8, the light blocking ink coating 24B may be a small area coating, such as the light blocking ink coating 24B of the embodiment shown in fig. 3-5; however, the light blocking ink coating 24B may also be a large area coating, such as the light reflecting ink coating 24A of the embodiment shown in fig. 3-5. Fig. 7 and 8 illustrate the light-shielding ink coating 24B as a large-area coating, but the practical application is not limited thereto.

In other embodiments, the light modulating layer 24 may comprise a light reflecting ink coating 24A and a light blocking ink coating 24B, but the area of the light reflecting ink coating 24A is smaller than the area of the light blocking ink coating 24B. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 9, both the reflective ink coating 24A and the opaque ink coating 24B are disposed on the second side 282 of the raised area 28, with the reflective ink coating 24A closer to the light source 18. In the embodiment shown in fig. 10, both the reflective ink coating 24A and the light blocking ink coating 24B are disposed on a first side 281 of the raised area 28, and the reflective ink coating 24A covers the light blocking ink coating 24B so that it is directly accessible to the protective layer 22. In the embodiment shown in fig. 11, the light reflecting ink coating 24A and the light blocking ink coating 24B are disposed on the second side 282 and the first side 281 of the raised areas 28, respectively.
Referring to fig. 2 and 12, fig. 12 is a schematic diagram of an optical path inside a key 12 according to another embodiment of the present invention. The dimming layer 24 of the present embodiment is not limited to a single-layer or multi-layer coating, and the dimming layer 24 is disposed on the first face 281 of the embossed region 28 as an example; the light modulation layer 24 disposed on the second side 282 should have the same or similar light path, and thus, the description thereof will not be repeated. The light source 18 emits illumination upward, and a portion of the illumination passes by the light adjusting layer 24 through the keys 12 that can be projected directly above, or is projected upward by the turning of the light guiding layer 20. Another part of the illumination light projected to the dimming layer 24 is reflected to both sides. The illumination light rays enter the light guide layer 20 after turning to the two sides of the light adjusting layer 24, and are projected upwards through the guide of the light guide layer 20; therefore, the center and both sides of each key 12 can have uniform light emitting brightness due to the function of the backlight module 14.
In order to further improve the light emitting uniformity of the key 12, as shown in fig. 12, the light adjusting layer 24 may further have a light guiding microstructure 24C, which is preferably disposed on the first surface 281 of the raised area 28. The shape, number, density, volume and position of the light guide microstructures 24C are not limited to the embodiment shown in fig. 12, and any light guide structure capable of reflecting the illumination light uniformly upward belongs to the design scope of the present disclosure.
In summary, the backlight module and the light emitting keyboard thereof of the present invention have the light modulation layer disposed on a single surface or two opposite surfaces of the protection layer corresponding to the protruding area of the light source, and the light quantity entering the light guide layer is increased by using the light reflection property of the light modulation layer, so that the illumination light can be uniformly projected to the center and two sides of the key. The light adjusting layer can be a single-layer light reflecting ink coating or a light shading ink coating, and can also be a double-layer coating consisting of the light reflecting ink coating and the light shading ink coating. The pattern of the light modulation layer can be round, square or any shape, and the design range of the scheme can be met as long as the light modulation layer is positioned between the light source and the key and aligned with the central area of the light source.
The present invention is capable of other embodiments, and various changes and modifications may be made by one skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
