Preferably, the adhesion between the protective layer 20 and the adhesive tape 10 is greater than 1500 g/in. To facilitate separation of the adhesive tape 10 from the release paper, the edge of the protective layer 20 is disposed beyond the edge of the adhesive tape 10. In one embodiment, tape 10 is a strip of tape 10, where the edges of protective layer 20 extend beyond the edges of the short sides of tape 10.
