Description

Detection system and detection method for display panel
Technical Field
The embodiment of the invention relates to a display panel detection technology, in particular to a detection system and a detection method of a display panel.
Background
Display panels (e.g., organic light emitting diode display panels) typically require quality inspection after preparation is complete to ensure that the manufactured product is a good quality product.
In the display panel, a driving chip is not normally bonded during display detection, and therefore, a detection line of a conventional display panel firstly lights up the display panel by a display driving device (module), and then judges whether a defective pixel (defective sub-pixel) exists in the display panel according to a picture displayed on the display panel. If the brightness of each sub-pixel is within the standard brightness range (i.e. the brightness of the whole display panel is uniform), the position of the dead pixel can be accurately judged.
However, if the luminance uniformity of the display panel is poor (i.e., the luminance in the display area has a significant difference, the local luminance is high, and the local luminance is low) due to the defect of the display panel, it cannot be accurately determined whether there is a dead pixel in the excessively bright or excessively dark area, so that the accuracy of the detection result is reduced.

It is to be understood that the specific embodiments described herein are merely illustrative of the invention and are not limiting thereof. It should be further noted that, for convenience of description, only some, but not all of the structures related to the present invention are shown in the drawings.
Fig. 1 is a schematic structural diagram of a display panel inspection system provided in an embodiment of the present invention, referring to fig. 1, the display panel inspection system provided in the embodiment of the present invention includes a first inspection station 1, a second inspection station 2, and a server 3; the display panel sequentially performs display detection at a first detection station 1 and a second detection station 2; the first detection station 1 comprises a first display driving module 11, a camera shooting module 12 and an image processing module 13, wherein the camera shooting module 12 is in communication connection with the image processing module 13, and the image processing module 13 is in communication connection with the server 3; the second detection station 2 comprises a second display driving module 21, and the second display driving module 21 is in communication connection with the server 3; in the detection stage of the display panel, the first display driving module 11 is configured to drive the display panel to display a first picture; the image pickup module 12 is used for shooting a first picture to generate image information, and inputting the image information to the image processing module 13; the image processing module 13 is used for generating identification information according to the image information and sending the identification information to the server 3; the identification information includes a bad name for identifying brightness information of the display panel; the server 3 is configured to receive the identification information and send the identification information to the second display driving module 21; the second display driving module 21 is configured to drive the display panel to display a second screen according to the identification information, so as to perform display detection on the display panel according to the second screen; wherein the brightness uniformity of the second picture is greater than the brightness uniformity of the first picture.
For example, fig. 2 is a schematic view of an actual scenario of a first inspection station and a second inspection station in the inspection system shown in fig. 1, where referring to fig. 2, the first inspection station and the second inspection station are two inspection stations in an inspection line of a display panel, and the display panel performs display inspection at the first inspection station and the second inspection station in sequence, for example, performs defective pixel (defective sub-pixel) inspection. For example, the first detection station and the second detection station are respectively provided with a display screen (shown as a and B in fig. 2), and the display condition of the display panel can be observed through the display screens so as to detect the number and the position of the dead pixels.
The first detection station 1 performs display detection on a display panel through an image capturing module 12 (for example, a camera) and an image processing module 13 (for example, a computer). Specifically, after the first display driving module 11 drives the display panel to display a picture, the image capturing module 12 may take a picture of the picture, and the image processing module 13 may primarily determine the position of the dead pixel after analyzing the taken picture. Thereafter, further detailed detection by the detector personnel is possible at the second detection station 2, in order to avoid erroneous decisions caused by automatic detection of the first detection station 1 by the device.
Moreover, the two detection stations are provided in the embodiment of the present invention, the first detection station 1 may generate the identification information (bad name) for identifying the brightness information of the display panel by using the image processing module 13, and send the identification information to the second display driving module in the second detection station 2 by using the server, and the second display driving module 21 may select a suitable driving voltage according to the identification information, so as to ensure that the detection personnel detects the brightness of the display panel under the condition that the brightness of the display panel is uniform, so as to avoid that whether there is a dead spot in the too bright or too dark area due to the non-uniformity of the brightness of the display panel, and further improve the accuracy of the detection result. The foregoing is the core idea of the embodiment of the present invention, and the following describes in detail the technical solution of the embodiment of the present invention with reference to the accompanying drawings.
When the first display driving module 11 drives the display panel to display the first frame, if the brightness of the first frame is not uniform, the image processing module 13 cannot accurately determine whether there is a dead pixel in the excessively bright or excessively dark area. To this end, the embodiment of the present invention analyzes the image information sent from the image capturing module 12 by the image processing module 13 to generate identification information representing the brightness information of the display panel, and sends the identification information to the server 3. Further, the server 3 may send the identification information to the second display driving module, so that the second display driving module drives the display panel to display the second picture with better brightness uniformity according to the identification information.
Specifically, the identification information includes a poor name for identifying luminance information of the display panel, and from the identification information (poor name), whether the luminance of the sub-pixel (or each region) in the display panel is higher, lower, or normal than the standard luminance range can be known. Therefore, after the second display driving module receives the identification information, the second display driving module can select a proper driving voltage value according to the identification information to drive the display panel to display a second picture, so that compensation is performed on a display area with brightness lower than a standard brightness range and a display area with brightness higher than the standard brightness range, and brightness uniformity of the whole display panel is improved. Therefore, when detecting the display panel according to the second picture, the detecting personnel can detect the display panel under the picture with uniform brightness, thereby avoiding the situation that whether the bright or dark area is bad or not can not be accurately judged due to uneven brightness of the display panel, and improving the accuracy of the detecting result. It will be appreciated that the smaller the difference between the average of the luminance of the plurality of sub-pixels and the luminance of each sub-pixel, the better the luminance uniformity of the display panel.
Note that the identification information may or may not include luminance information of a sub-pixel having normal luminance, which is not limited in the embodiment of the present invention.
It should be noted that, in the embodiments of the present invention, "first" and "second" have no substantial meaning, and are used only for distinguishing.
According to the embodiment of the invention, the first image of the display panel is shot by the camera module at the first detection station to generate the image information, the image information is sent to the image processing module, the image processing module generates the identification information according to the image information, the identification information is sent to the server, and the server is used for sending the identification information to the second display driving module.
On the basis of the above embodiment, fig. 3 is a schematic structural diagram of another display panel inspection system according to an embodiment of the present invention, referring to fig. 3, optionally, the second inspection station 2 further includes a brightness inspection module 22; the brightness detection module 22 is in communication connection with the image processing module 13; before the detection stage of the display panel, the first display driving module 11 and the second display driving module 21 are both used for driving the display panel to display a first picture; the brightness detection module 22 is configured to detect a brightness value of a subpixel in the display panel under the first frame, and send the brightness value to the image processing module 13; the image processing module 13 is configured to determine a pixel value of a sub-pixel in the display panel according to the image information, and determine a correspondence between the pixel value of the sub-pixel and a luminance value of the sub-pixel according to the pixel value and the luminance value; in the detection stage of the display panel, the image processing module 13 is configured to determine a luminance value of a subpixel in the display panel according to the image information and the correspondence relationship, and generate identification information according to the luminance value and the standard luminance range.
Since it is difficult for the image processing module 13 to directly determine the luminance value of the sub-pixel in the display panel from the image information sent by the image capturing module 12, only the pixel value of the sub-pixel can be obtained, and therefore, the embodiment obtains the correspondence between the pixel value of the sub-pixel and the luminance value before the detection stage and stores the correspondence in the image processing module 13, so that the image processing module 13 can determine the pixel value of the sub-pixel in the display panel according to the image information during the detection stage, and further determine the luminance value of the sub-pixel in the display panel according to the pixel value and the correspondence between the pixel value and the luminance value. Then, by comparing the brightness value with the standard brightness range, whether the brightness of the sub-pixel is higher, lower or normal can be determined, and the identification information is generated.
Specifically, by providing the brightness detection module 22 at the second detection station 2 and making the first display driving module 11 and the second display driving module 21 both drive the display panel to display the first picture, the image information of the display panel under the first picture can be acquired by the image capturing module 12 at the first detection station 1, and the image information is sent to the image processing module 13; the brightness detection module 22 is utilized at the second detection station 2 to obtain the brightness value of the sub-pixel of the display panel under the first picture, and the brightness value of the sub-pixel is sent to the image processing module 13; the image processing module 13 analyzes the image information to obtain a pixel value of the sub-pixel, and further obtains a corresponding relationship between the pixel value of the sub-pixel and the luminance value of the sub-pixel.
Fig. 4 is a schematic structural diagram of another display panel detection system according to an embodiment of the present invention, and the structures of the first display driving module 11 and the second display driving module 21 are further refined. Referring to fig. 4, the first display driving module 11 may optionally include a first power supply unit 111, a first driving unit 112, and a first control unit 113; the first power supply unit 111 is electrically connected to the display panel and is used for providing a first power supply for the display panel; the first driving unit 112 is electrically connected to the first control unit 113 and the display panel, respectively; the first control unit 113 is configured to control the first driving unit 112 to output a first driving voltage to the display panel, so as to drive the display panel to display a first picture; the second display driving module 21 includes a second power supply unit 121, a second driving unit 122, and a second control unit 123; the second power supply unit 121 is electrically connected to the display panel and is used for providing a second power supply for the display panel; the second driving unit 122 is electrically connected with the second control unit 123 and the display panel, respectively, and the second control unit 123 is in communication connection with the server 3; the second control unit 123 is configured to receive the identification information, and control the second driving unit 122 to output a second driving voltage to the display panel according to the identification information, so that the display panel displays a second screen.
For example, referring to fig. 4, the first display driving module 11 and the second display driving module 21 are electrically connected to a PCB (printed circuit board) in the display panel, respectively. The PCB board is provided with a grid driving circuit and/or a data driving circuit, and the first display driving module 11 and the second display driving module 21 work by controlling the grid driving circuit and the data driving circuit to achieve the purpose of driving the display panel to display pictures. Specifically, the first power supply unit 111 is configured to provide a working power supply (i.e., a first power supply) for a circuit on the PCB board; the first driving unit 112 is used for providing driving voltages required by the sub-pixels to emit light, such as PVDD signals, PVEE signals, and data signals; the first control unit 113 is used for controlling the first driving unit 112 to generate a certain driving voltage. The function of each structure in the second display driving module 21 is the same as that of the first display driving module, and will not be described in detail herein.
It should be noted that, the second control unit 123 needs to control the second driving unit 122 to output the second driving voltage according to the identification information sent by the server 3, so that the second driving voltage is the compensated driving voltage, so as to compensate the brightness of the display panel, make the brightness of the second picture relatively uniform, and improve the accuracy of the detection result.
The first driving voltage (second driving voltage) represents a general term of a driving signal for driving the sub-pixel to emit light. In addition, in the embodiment of the present invention, the display panel may adjust the brightness of the sub-pixels by adopting a pulse width modulation manner, or may adjust the brightness of the sub-pixels by adopting a current driving manner, which may be set by a person skilled in the art, and the embodiment of the present invention is not limited thereto.
With continued reference to fig. 4, optionally, the first control unit 113 is communicatively connected to the server 3; the server 3 is also adapted to communicatively connect the first control unit 113 and the second control unit 123. The arrangement is convenient for the information interaction between the first detection station and the second detection station, so that the detection system is more automatic and intelligent.
Based on the same inventive concept, the embodiment of the present invention further provides a method for detecting a display panel, which is performed by using the detection system provided in any one of the embodiments, and fig. 5 is a schematic flow chart of the method for detecting a display panel provided in the embodiment of the present invention, and referring to fig. 5, the method for detecting a display panel includes the following steps:
s101, in a detection stage of the display panel, the first display driving module drives the display panel to display a first picture.
S102, the image pickup module shoots a first picture to generate image information, and the image information is input to the image processing module.
S103, the image processing module generates identification information according to the image information and sends the identification information to the server; the identification information includes a bad name for identifying luminance information of the display panel.
Specifically, the identification information (brightness information of the display panel) may represent a comparison result of the brightness of the display panel with the standard brightness range, and the identification information may include poor names for identifying the brightness of the display panel to be higher, lower and normal, or may include only poor names for identifying the brightness of the display panel to be higher and lower.
S104, the server receives the identification information and sends the identification information to the second display driving module.
S105, the second display driving module drives the display panel to display a second picture according to the identification information so as to display and detect the display panel according to the second picture; wherein the brightness uniformity of the second picture is greater than the brightness uniformity of the first picture.
Specifically, the second display driving module can determine the brightness of the sub-pixels (or each area) in the display panel according to the identification information, and select a suitable driving voltage value to drive the display panel to display the second picture, so as to realize compensation of the display area with the brightness lower than the standard brightness range and the display area with the brightness higher than the standard brightness range, and improve the brightness uniformity of the whole display panel.
According to the detection method provided by the embodiment of the invention, the first detection station shoots the first picture of the display panel through the shooting module, generates the image information and sends the image information to the image processing module, the image processing module generates the identification information for identifying the brightness of the display panel and sends the identification information to the server, the server sends the identification information to the second display driving module, and the second display driving module is used for driving the display panel to display the second picture with better brightness uniformity according to the identification information, so that the position of the dead pixel can be accurately judged according to the second picture with more uniform brightness in the second detection station, the situation that the position of the dead pixel cannot be accurately judged due to uneven brightness of the display panel is avoided, and the accuracy of the detection result is improved.
On the basis of the above embodiments, the detection method of the display panel is further refined as follows.
Fig. 6 is a flowchart of another method for detecting a display panel according to an embodiment of the present invention, which further refines how the image processing module generates the identification information. Referring to fig. 6, the detection method of the display panel may include the steps of:
S201, before the detection stage of the display panel, the image processing module obtains the corresponding relation between the pixel value of the sub-pixel and the brightness value of the sub-pixel.
As shown in fig. 3, the second detection station further includes a brightness detection module, and the brightness detection module is communicatively connected with the image processing module; the image processing module obtains the corresponding relation between the pixel value of the sub-pixel and the brightness value of the sub-pixel, and can be realized by adopting the following steps:
Before the detection stage of the display panel, the first display driving module drives the display panel to display a first picture; the image pickup module shoots a first picture to generate image information, and the image information is input to the image processing module; the second display driving module drives the display panel to display the first picture; the brightness detection module detects the brightness value of the sub-pixel in the display panel under the first picture and sends the brightness value to the image processing module; the image processing module determines the pixel value of the sub-pixel in the display panel according to the image information, and determines the corresponding relation between the pixel value of the sub-pixel and the luminance value of the sub-pixel according to the pixel value and the luminance value.
For example, before the detection stage, display detection may be performed on a plurality of display panels in advance, so as to obtain a correspondence between a pixel value of a sub-pixel and a luminance value of the sub-pixel, so as to ensure accuracy of the correspondence.
The corresponding relation between the pixel value and the brightness value of the sub-pixel is obtained in advance, so that the image processing module can conveniently determine the brightness value of the sub-pixel according to the image information and the corresponding relation in the detection stage, and further identification information is generated, and the detail is shown in S204.

As shown in fig. 4, the first display driving module includes a first power unit, a first driving unit and a first control unit, the first power unit is electrically connected with the display panel, and the first driving unit is electrically connected with the first control unit and the display panel respectively. At this time, the first display driving module drives the display panel to display the first picture, which can be achieved by the following method: the first power supply unit provides a first power supply for the display panel, and meanwhile, the first control unit controls the first driving unit to output a first driving voltage to the display panel so as to drive the display panel to display a first picture.
S203, the image pickup module shoots the first picture to generate image information, and the image information is input to the image processing module.
S204, the image processing module determines pixel values of the sub-pixels in the display panel according to the image information, determines brightness values of the sub-pixels in the display panel according to the pixel values and the corresponding relation, generates identification information according to the brightness values and the standard brightness range, and sends the identification information to the server.

Therefore, only the poor names of the brightness information of the first type of sub-pixels are transmitted, so that the operation amount of the image processing module, the server and the second display driving module can be reduced, and the detection efficiency is improved.
Further alternatively, the generating the identification information according to the luminance value of the first type of sub-pixel may be implemented by the following method: the image processing module groups the first type of sub-pixels according to the difference value between the brightness value and the standard brightness range, the difference value between the brightness value of the first type of sub-pixels in the same group and the difference value between the labeling brightness range are in the same range, and the identification information corresponding to the first type of sub-pixels in different groups is different.
The first type of sub-pixels with the brightness value within the same range as the standard brightness range are divided into the same group, the brightness of the first type of sub-pixels can be classified according to the brightness deviation, the brightness information of the first type of sub-pixels in different groups is marked by different bad names, so that after the second display driving module obtains the marking information, the difference value between the brightness of different sub-pixels and the standard brightness range can be determined, and the most suitable driving voltage can be selected to drive the display panel, so that the brightness uniformity of the display panel can be further improved, and the accuracy of the detection result is improved.
S205, the server receives the identification information and sends the identification information to the second display driving module.
S206, the second display driving module drives the display panel to display a second picture according to the identification information so as to display and detect the display panel according to the second picture; wherein the brightness uniformity of the second picture is greater than the brightness uniformity of the first picture.
As shown in fig. 4, the second display driving module includes a second power unit, a second driving unit and a second control unit, the second power unit is electrically connected with the display panel, the second driving unit is electrically connected with the second control unit and the display panel respectively, and the second control unit is in communication connection with the server. At this time, the second display driving module drives the display panel to display the second picture according to the identification information, which can be achieved by the following method: the second power supply unit provides a second power supply for the display panel, and meanwhile, the second control unit receives the identification information and controls the second driving unit to output a second driving voltage to the display panel according to the identification information so as to drive the display panel to display a second picture.
