Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of communications, and in particular, to a method and an apparatus for communication handover.
Background
Handover is the most fundamental and important procedure in mobility management. In LTE/LTE-a, handover of user equipment is base station controlled. In NR, since a high frequency carrier and a beamforming technique are used, a change in a channel state is fast, which may cause a failure in transmitting a handover command to a user equipment from a source base station, i.e., a base station to which the user equipment is currently connected. Once this occurs, the control signaling between the ue and the base station disappears, and the ue may enter Radio Link Failure (RLF) and perform RRC reestablishment, which results in longer delay.
To solve this problem, conditional handover is proposed (which may also be referred to as autonomous handover). Conditional handover is a network configured but user equipment controlled mobility management mechanism. The conditional handover allows the source base station to send a conditional handover command to the user equipment when the channel quality is more stable than that of the source base station when the conventional handover is started, the conditional handover command includes information of a plurality of candidate cells and handover conditions, and then the user equipment can perform a handover process by itself when the handover conditions are satisfied.
For convenience of description, a period between transmission of the conditional switch instruction and failure of the conditional switch instruction in the case where switching/non-switching is actually performed is referred to as a validity period of the conditional switch. In the validity period of the condition switching, the user equipment can still perform measurement according to the current measurement configuration and report a measurement report to the source base station so that the base station can adjust the condition switching, and frequent measurement report reporting brings great expense.

In order to solve the above technical problem, the present invention provides a communication handover method, including: a source base station receives a first measurement report reported by user equipment; the source base station selects a candidate cell for the user equipment according to the measurement report; the source base station sends a conditional switching instruction to the user equipment, wherein the conditional switching instruction comprises information of candidate cells and switching conditions, and the source base station sends measurement configuration in a conditional switching mode to the user equipment, and the measurement configuration in the conditional switching mode comprises at least one of the following measurement events: d1: the measured value of the adjacent cell is better than the measured value of the best cell in the candidate cell list, and the difference between the measured value of the adjacent cell and the measured value of the best cell in the candidate cell list is larger than a first threshold value; d2: the measured value of the neighbor cell is better than the measured value of the best cell in the candidate cell list and the difference between the measured value of the neighbor cell and the measured value of the best cell in the candidate cell list is larger than a second threshold value, and the measured value of the serving cell is lower than a third threshold value; d3: the number of candidate cells of which the measured value is inferior to the fourth threshold value is larger than the fifth threshold value; a1: the measurement value of the serving cell is better than the sixth threshold.
In order to solve the above technical problem, the present invention provides a communication switching apparatus, which includes a processor and a communication circuit, wherein the processor is connected to the communication circuit, and the processor is configured to execute instructions to implement any one of the aforementioned methods.

Detailed Description
The present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings and examples. Non-conflicting ones of the following embodiments may be combined with each other.
The main implementation of the first embodiment of the method for switching communication in the present invention is a user equipment, which may be fixed or mobile, and may be a cellular phone, a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), a wireless modem, a tablet computer, a notebook computer, a cordless phone, etc. As shown in fig. 1, the present embodiment includes:
s11: and the user equipment reports the first measurement report to the source base station.
The first measurement report may also be referred to as an early measurement report. The user equipment may receive a measurement control from the source base station for indicating when to start measuring and to report the first measurement report before this step. The measurement control may be carried by RRC connection reconfiguration (RRC connection reconfiguration). The measurement configuration indicated by the measurement control may be referred to as the measurement configuration in the normal mode. The reporting of the first measurement report may be periodic or aperiodic, e.g. event triggered.
The trigger condition for an event-triggered measurement report may be referred to as a measurement event. The measurement configuration in the normal mode may include some or all of the measurement events A1-A6, the measurement events A1-A6 being shown in Table 1.
TABLE 1
In table 1, a serving cell refers to a cell currently providing service for user equipment; when the ue is in the dual connectivity state, the special Cell refers to a Primary Cell (PCell) or a Primary Secondary Cell (PSCell), and the special Cell is the PCell in other cases. The PCell works on the main frequency, the user equipment executes an initial connection establishment process or starts a connection reestablishment process in the PCell, and if the user equipment is in a double-connection state, the PCell belongs to the main node; the PSCell belongs to the secondary node, and random access is performed in the PSCell when the user equipment performs the connection reconfiguration process with synchronization.
S12: the user equipment receives a conditional handover instruction from the source base station.
The conditional switch instruction may be carried by RRC connection reconfiguration. The conditional handover command includes information of candidate cells and handover conditions, and the candidate cells are selected by the source base station for the ue according to the first measurement report. The conditional handover command includes a candidate cell list, and the list includes partial or all information of all candidate cells. The handover conditions may be the same or different for different candidate cells.
S13: and the user equipment performs measurement according to the measurement configuration in the condition switching mode to obtain a measurement result.
Since conditional handover is a network configuration but user equipment controlled mechanism, the handover decision is made by the user equipment rather than the network side during the validity period of the conditional handover. The source base station may adjust the conditional handover according to the measurement report, and the adjustment may include ending the conditional handover in advance, adding a new candidate cell, removing an unsuitable candidate cell, and the like.
In this case, the source base station does not need to acquire the serving/special/neighbor cell measurement update results provided by the a1-a6 measurement report in all cases. In fact, most a1-a6 measurement reports do not directly provide useful information to the source base station during the validity period of the conditional switch. The following analysis of whether the a1-a6 measurement event is applicable during the validity period of the condition switch is only performed with respect to the entry condition of the measurement event, except as specifically noted.
A1: advantageously, the inclusion of the a1 event measurement report may indicate that the serving cell signal quality is good enough, in which case the source base station may end the conditional handover early.
A2: useless, conditional handover has already been initiated and the user equipment, rather than the source base station, decides whether or not to perform the actual handover.
A3: the neighboring cell triggering a3 may be a possible handover target for the user equipment. However, after the conditional handover is initiated, the ue selects a handover target from the configured candidate cells in a default state. In the case where the cell most suitable as the handover target belongs to the configured candidate cell, the source base station does not need to know whether a new cell can be used as the candidate cell, and the a3 event is useless.
A4: the entry condition analysis for the a4 event is similar to the A3 event. The measurement report including the leaving condition of the a4 event may be used for the source base station to determine whether to remove the unsuitable candidate cell, however, the measurement object of the a4 event is a neighboring cell (which may be defined by a cell triggeredlist), and the number of the measurement objects is generally significantly larger than the number of the candidate cells, which may cause many useless measurement report reports, resulting in unnecessary overhead.
A5: similar to the a2 and a4 events.
A6: similar to the a3 event.
In this embodiment, after receiving the conditional switch instruction, the ue stops using the measurement configuration in the normal mode and enables the measurement configuration in the conditional switch mode (which may also be referred to as reporting configuration) to perform measurement. The measurement configuration in the conditional handover mode may be carried by the conditional handover instruction, or may be pre-configured to the ue. The measurement configuration in the conditional switching mode includes at least one of measurement events D1, D2, D3, and a1. The measurement events D1, D2, D3, and a1 and the corresponding trigger conditions are as follows:
D1. the measured value of the adjacent cell is better than the measured value of the best cell in the candidate cell list, and the difference between the measured value and the measured value is larger than a first threshold value, namely the adjacent cell is better than the first threshold value of the best cell in the candidate cell list;
D2. the measured value of the neighbor cell is better than the measured value of the best cell in the candidate cell list and the difference between the measured value of the neighbor cell and the measured value of the best cell in the candidate cell list is larger than a second threshold, and the measured value of the serving cell is inferior to a third threshold, namely the neighbor cell is better than the first threshold of the best cell in the candidate cell list and the serving cell is inferior to the third threshold;
D3. the number of candidate cells with the measured value being inferior to the fourth threshold is larger than the fifth threshold, namely the number of candidate cells with the measured value being inferior to the fourth threshold is larger than the fifth threshold;
A1. the measured value of the serving cell is better than the sixth threshold, i.e. the serving cell is better than the sixth threshold.
In the above measurement events, the measurement value is used to indicate the Quality of the Signal, and the measurement value may specifically include Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP), Reference Signal Received Quality (RSRQ), and Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR). The first threshold and the second threshold are relative thresholds of signal quality, and the first threshold and the second threshold may be the same or different; the third threshold is an absolute threshold of the signal quality; the fourth threshold is an absolute threshold of the signal quality; the fifth threshold is a quantity threshold; the sixth threshold is an absolute threshold for signal quality.
If the measurement result triggers at least one of the measurement events, the ue generates and reports a second measurement report including the triggered measurement event, and the source base station may adjust the conditional handover according to the second measurement report.
The triggering condition for the D1/D2 event includes that the measured value of the neighbor cell is better than the measured value of the best cell in the candidate cell list and the difference between the measured values is greater than the first/second threshold, and the best cell in the candidate cell list may be the one with the best signal quality in the candidate cell list, which means that the signal quality of the neighbor cell is better than the signal quality of all candidate cells. The neighboring cell signal quality triggering the D1/D2 event is better than the current candidate cell, is better suited as a handover target and is not a configured candidate cell. When the D1 and/or D2 event is triggered, the ue may report a second measurement report including the triggered D1 and/or D2 event, and after receiving the second measurement report, the source base station may add the neighboring cell triggering the D1 and/or D2 event as a new candidate cell, so as to ensure that the ue can handover to a suitable cell.
In the case where both D1 and D2 events are configured, and the second threshold is greater than or equal to the first threshold, the neighboring cells that triggered the D2 event must trigger the D1 event at the same time, and the D2 event can be considered as a combination of the D1 event and another trigger condition. The measurement configuration in the conditional switching mode may further include a combination of D1 events with other non-conflicting trigger conditions, such as a combination of D1 events with a special cell being worse than an absolute threshold.
The D3 event is triggered to mean that some candidate cells are no longer suitable as handover targets, the ue may report a second measurement report including the triggered D3 event, and the source base station may remove these candidate cells after receiving the second measurement report, so as to release resources reserved for the ue and reduce resource occupation. Compared with the leaving condition of A4 analyzed before, the number of the measurement objects of the D3 event is fewer and more accurate, and unnecessary overhead can be reduced. In the case that the D3 event is configured, the source base station may adjust the fourth threshold and/or the fifth threshold according to the requirements of different application scenarios, and decide the tradeoff between the measurement report overhead of the user equipment and the overhead of the reserved resources on the network side.
The triggered a1 event may mean that the signal quality of the source cell is good enough that handover is not required, the ue may report a second measurement report including the triggered a1 event, and the source base station may terminate the conditional handover earlier after receiving the second measurement report.
An example of Abstract Syntax Notation 1 (asn.1) of the D1 event, D2 event, and D3 event is as follows:
the measurement configuration in the conditional switching mode may not include at least one of the a2 event, the A3 event, the a4 event, the a5 event, and the a6 event to reduce measurement reporting overhead.
After obtaining the measurement result, the ue may determine whether the measurement result satisfies a trigger condition of a measurement event included in the measurement configuration in the condition switching mode, and if the measurement result satisfies the trigger condition of at least one measurement event, that is, the measurement result triggers at least one of the measurement events, the ue generates and reports a second measurement report including the triggered measurement event. In addition, the user equipment can judge whether the measurement value of the candidate cell in the measurement result meets the switching condition; and if so, selecting the candidate cell meeting the switching condition as the target cell and switching to the target cell by the user equipment. The generation and reporting of the second measurement report and the actual handover may not necessarily be performed. If the generation and reporting of the second measurement report and the actual handover are performed, the execution sequence between the two is not limited.
Through the implementation of this embodiment, after receiving the conditional switch instruction, the ue performs measurement and reporting according to the measurement configuration in the conditional switch mode, where the measurement configuration in the conditional switch mode includes at least one of measurement events D1, D2, D3, and a1. The measurement events can meet at least part of the requirements of the base station for adjusting the condition switching, and compared with the current A2-A6 measurement events, the probability that the measurement events D1, D2 and D3 are triggered is lower, and the overhead brought by the reporting of the measurement report is reduced.
As shown in fig. 2, the second embodiment of the communication switching method of the present invention is based on the first embodiment of the communication switching method of the present invention, and the measurement event includes a D1 event and/or a D2 event and the D1 event and/or the D2 event is triggered. The updated conditional handover instruction includes information of the neighboring cells that triggered the D1 event and/or the D2 event.
As shown in fig. 3, the third embodiment of the communication switching method of the present invention is based on the first embodiment of the communication switching method of the present invention, wherein the measurement event includes a D3 event and a D3 event is triggered. And the source base station determines to stop the automatic switching in advance after receiving the second measurement report.
S125: the user equipment receives a stop automatic switching instruction from the source base station.
The main execution body of the fifth embodiment of the communication switching method of the present invention is a base station, and the base station is used as a source base station in an automatic switching process, that is, a base station to which User Equipment (UE) is currently connected. The base station is connected with the core network and performs wireless communication with the user equipment to provide communication coverage for a corresponding geographic area. The base station may be a macro base station, a micro base station, a pico base station, or a home base station (femtocell). The measurement control may be carried by RRC connection reconfiguration. The measurement configuration indicated by the measurement control may be referred to as the measurement configuration in the normal mode. The reporting of the first measurement report may be periodic or aperiodic, e.g. event triggered. The measurement configuration in the normal mode may include part or all of the measurement events a1-a6, and reference may be made to the related description in the first embodiment of the communication handover method of the present invention.
S22: the source base station selects a candidate cell for the user equipment according to the first measurement report.

The source base station may also send the measurement configuration in the conditional switching mode first and then send the conditional switching instruction. The sequence of the transmission of the measurement configuration in the conditional switching mode and the execution between steps S21 and S22 is merely illustrative and is not actually limited.
