Background technique

Cosmetics are used to apply on the human body surface. It is presented, for example, in solid form such as powder, liquid form, gel form or emulsion form.

More generally, cosmetics are products as defined in EC Regulation N° 1223/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30.11.2009 relating to cosmetics.

Some cosmetic preparations tend to degrade over time when they come into contact with air, which may shorten the shelf life of the product. In order to preserve the properties of the cosmetic product over time, the container of the cosmetic product should generally provide an at least partial seal from the surrounding air.

This sealing of the container often conflicts with the ease with which the user can open and close the container.

US2011/0266297 describes a sealed container for containing cosmetics. The container includes a cosmetic reservoir disposed in a base connected to the closure. The closure device comprises a ring pivoting relative to the base and an axisymmetric outer lid adapted to be rotated by a user to open and tightly close the container. The tightness of the container is provided by a sealing layer arranged on the inner lid attached to the guide ring, the coating being pressed against the surface of the container neck when the closure device is in the closed position.

Such devices enable a certain tightness to be obtained, but are complex in design and have an axisymmetric geometry. It requires pivoting the cover about an axis, which is not possible for geometries other than axisymmetric.

WO2008/050926, US005908037, WO2015/038871, US1672417, US1818409 describe other packaging devices.

These devices are not entirely satisfactory. In fact, none of these devices have successfully combined an attractive cosmetic container with a tight and easy-to-manipulate closure system.

Contents of the invention

An object of the present invention is to provide a closure assembly for a cosmetics container which enables long-term storage of cosmetics and which is easy to use while maintaining a pleasingly attractive appearance.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a closure assembly that fits easily on the container and disrupts the filling and packaging operations as little as possible.

To this end, the invention relates to an assembly of the above-mentioned type, comprising an actuation member connected via the cover to the movable part, adapted to be operated from the outside of the cover to change the movable part from the locked position of the container to the Unlock position.

An assembly according to the invention may comprise one or more of the following features taken alone or in any technically feasible combination:

- the actuation member comprises an actuation button protruding from the cover;

- the cover defines a circulation path of an actuation member comprising an arm inserted through the circulation path, the arm connecting the button to the movable part;

The invention also relates to a product packaging device comprising a container defining an internal volume for receiving a product and a closure assembly as described above mounted on the container.

The device according to the invention may comprise one or more of the following features considered individually or in any technically feasible combination:

- the closure device comprises a base for mounting on the container, the lid is hinged on the base, the base defines a passage for access to the inner volume of the container, the base is fixedly mounted on the container, the part to be closed is the neck of the base;

Detailed ways

In the following, the orientations are given relative to the orientation chosen in the figures. Furthermore, the terms "front" and "rear" are respectively understood to be relatively closer to the user and relatively farther away from the user when the user uses the device 10 while holding the device 10 in his/her hand.

A cosmetic packaging device 10 according to the present invention is shown in FIGS. 1 to 4 .

The device 10 is used to store cosmetics in a substantially compact manner. Cosmetics are, for example, make-up products or care products. It is formed as a liquid, gel, solid or powder.

Referring to FIG. 1 , a packaging device 10 includes a container 12 and a closure assembly 14 for the container 12 .

Referring to Figure 2, container 12 is a can. It comprises a side wall 16 , a bottom 18 and a neck 20 . Container 12 defines an interior volume 22 that contains cosmetics.

Neck 20 projects upwardly from sidewall 16 and defines an opening 24 for access to interior volume 22 .

Neck 20 includes a cylindrical outer surface 26 that includes threads 28 for attaching closure assembly 14 .

Neck 20 includes a protrusion 27 at its base for locking closure assembly 14 in place.

The closure assembly 14 includes an outer cover 30 , a movable sealing portion 32 disposed in the cover 30 and a base 34 for retaining the movable portion 32 in the cover 30 . In this example, the closure assembly also includes an actuation member 36 of the movable portion 32 , a base 38 mounted on the container 12 and a hinge 40 for hinged lid 30 on the base 38 .

The lid 30 thus forms a lid for closing the container 12 .

In this case, the cover 30 has a non-circular outer contour. Advantageously, the cover 30 has a polygonal or pseudo-polygonal outer contour.

The lid 30 includes side walls 42 and a top wall 44 that define an interior cavity 46 for receiving the movable portion 32 that opens toward the container 12 when the lid 30 closes the container 12 .

The side wall 42 defines, on the front face, a circulation passage 48 of the actuation member 36 . Advantageously, circulation passage 48 is a horizontal slot.

The side wall 42 includes an inner recess 50 that opens into the cavity 46 for attaching the base 34 .

The movable part 32 has a cylindrical hollow shape with an axis AA', as shown vertically in FIG. 2 .

The movable portion 32 includes an upper partition 52 and a cylindrical side partition 54 defining an insertion space 56 of a part of the base 38 . This movable part is fully inserted into the cavity 46 of the cover 30 .

The movable part 32 is mounted movably, rotatably about the axis AA′, in the cavity 46 of the lid 30 between a locked position and an unlocked position of the container 12 .

The side partition 54 defines around its free bottom edge a lower opening 58 for entering the insertion space 56 .

As seen in FIG. 4 , the inner surface 60 of the side divider 54 includes a selective fastening element 62 that leads to the base 38 .

The outer surface 64 of the side divider 54 also includes a protrusion 66 for guiding the rotation of the movable portion 32 within the cover 30 . The guide protrusion 66 is arranged on the outer periphery of the side partition 54 . The guide protrusion 66 is circumferential.

Advantageously, the bottom face of the upper partition 52 is equipped with a sealing member 68 formed here by a compressible disk attached below the upper partition 52 in the insertion space 56 . As will be seen hereinafter, the sealing member is adapted to be applied on the free edge of the neck 20 to provide a seal.

The base 34 includes a peripheral ring 70 defining an aperture 72 for entering the insertion space 56 .

The base 34 also includes fastening lugs 74 associated with the cover 30 , tabs 76 for guiding the rotation of the movable part and grooves 78 for guiding the rotation of the actuating member 36 .

The peripheral ring 70 is arranged below the movable part 32 along the free edge of the side wall 42 of the cover 30 .

Fastening lugs 74 protrude from ring 70 into cavity 46 . The fastening lugs 74 are received in the recesses 50 of the cover 30 .

The guide tab 76 covers the guide protrusion 66 of the movable part 32 .

A groove 78 for guiding the rotation of the base 34 extends to the rear of the passage 48 between two end stops 80 (see FIG. 4 ).

The base 34 partially closes the cavity 46 of the cover 30 at the periphery of the cover 30 . The base 34 closes a circulation passage 48 at the bottom below the actuation member 36 .

The access hole 72 makes it possible to insert a part of the base 38 and the neck 20 into the insertion space 56 .

The base 34 holds the movable portion 32 in place in the cavity 46 . The guide protrusion 66 of the movable part 32 circulates under the guide lug 76 of the base part 34 .

Referring to FIGS. 2 and 4 , the actuation member 36 includes an arm 82 inserted via the circulation passage 48 , an actuation button 84 accessible from the exterior of the cover 30 , and an element 85 for inducing rotation of the actuation member 36 .

The arm 82 of the actuating member 36 protrudes radially with respect to the axis AA′ at the periphery of the cylindrical side partition 54 of the movable part 32 . The arm 82 is inserted through the circulation passage 48 .

The element 85 for guiding the rotation of the actuating member 36 is here a lug 86 . The tab 86 is received in the guide groove 78 .

The tabs 86 of the actuation member 36 extend axially on either side of the arm 82 .

The stop 80 of the base 34 limits the angular travel of the tab 86 and thus the travel of the actuation member 36 about the axis AA′.

A button 84 protrudes from the passageway 48 to the free end of the arm 82 . The button 84 is accessible by a user from outside the closure assembly 14 outside the circulation passage 48 of the cover 30 .

As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 , the base 38 includes a finished outer skirt 88 , an inner sleeve 90 and a neck 92 for mounting on the neck 20 of the container 12 which defines a Passage 94 into interior volume 22 of container 12 .

The outer skirt 88 has a non-cylindrical outer shape, such as a polygon or a pseudo-polygon. Alternatively, the outer skirt 88 is cylindrical.

Advantageously, the outer skirt 88 is flush with the side wall 16 of the container 12 .

The inner sleeve 90 internally comprises threaded elements 98 complementary to the threaded elements 28 of the neck 20 of the container 12 . The inner sleeve 90 defines a notch 96 that engages the attachment tab 27 for securing the base 38 to the container 12 .

The base 38 is screwed onto the container 12 by engaging the threaded element 28 with a complementary threaded element 98 of the inner sleeve 90 of the base 38 .

In an alternative embodiment (not shown), the base 38 is snapped onto the neck 20 of the container 12 .

The neck 92 of the base 38 includes on its outer surface 99 at least one complementary fastening element 100 . Each complementary fastening element 100 is intended to engage with the fastening element 62 of the movable part 32 in the locked position.

In this example, the fastening element 62 of the movable part 32 and the complementary fastening element 100 of the base 38 are threads.

The neck 92 of the base 38 has a shape complementary to the shape of the insertion space 56 for insertion via the entry aperture 72 of the base 34 .

Referring to FIGS. 3 and 4 , the hinge 40 used to hinge the cover 30 on the base 38 comprises a gusset 102 carried by the cover 30 , two receiving posts 104 carried by the base 38 and an insert between the receiving posts 104 . to a hinge pin (not shown) in the gusset 102 . Two or more hinge pins are also conceivable.

The gusset 102 of the hinge 40 protrudes here toward the container 12 at the outer circumference of the lid 30 to the rear of the lid 30 .

The receiving post 104 of the hinge 40 protrudes onto the base 38 along the rear edge towards the cover 30 . Gussets 102 are inserted between posts 104 .

The pin is inserted into the gusset 102 and held in place in the receiving post 104 at its end. As seen in FIG. 1 , the pins define a folded down position on the base 38 of the movable assembly formed by the lid 30 , the movable portion 32 and the base 34 relative to the base 38 mounted on the container 12 . The horizontal pivot axis between the closed position and the open position pivoted rearwardly with respect to the base 38.

A torsion spring 108 is mounted about the axis to continuously actuate the aforementioned movable assembly into the open and/or closed positions.

Ends of torsion spring 108 are attached to gusset 102 and receiving post 104 .

The operation of the device 10 according to the invention will now be described.

Initially, the user is provided with device 10 containing cosmetics in internal volume 22 .

Closure assembly 14 of device 10 is mounted on container 12 in a closed and locked configuration.

In this configuration, the cover 30 is folded down over the base 38 of the closure assembly 14 on which the base 34 rests. The neck portion 92 of the base portion 38 is inserted into the insertion space 56 of the movable portion 32 . The movable part 32 is completely inaccessible to the user from the outside of the cover 30 .

The actuation button 84 extends between the cover 30 and the base 34 to the outside of the circulation passage 48 formed in the cover 30 .

Fastening elements 62 on the inner surface 60 of the movable portion 32 engage complementary fastening elements 100 of the neck 92 .

A sealing member 68 arranged inside the insertion space 56 of the movable portion 32 is kept in contact with the neck 20 of the container 12 . The sealing member sealingly closes the access opening 24 of the container 12 . Therefore, the cosmetic product contained in the internal volume 22 is tightly confined in this volume, ensuring its satisfactory shelf life.

When the user wishes to apply the cosmetic product contained in the container 12 to a body surface, such as the face, the user operates the actuation button 84 . He/she moves the button 84 around the axis AA′ from one edge of the circulation path 48 to the opposite edge of the circulation path 48 .

Movement of the actuation button 84 is transferred to the movable portion 32 via the actuation arm 82 .

The guide protrusions 66 of the movable part 32 run under the tabs 76 of the base 34 so that the movable part 32 rotates in the cover 30 about the axis AA'.

The rotational movement of the movable part 32 about the axis AA' rotationally moves the fastening element 62 of the inner surface 60 of the movable part 32 about the axis AA'.

Engagement between the fastening element 62 and the complementary fastening element 100 also translates the movable portion 32 to separate it from the base 38 according to the inclination of the fastening element 62 , 100 along the axis AA′ .

The rotational movement of the movable portion 32 about the axis AA′ further actuates the tab 86 of the actuation member 36 circumferentially in the guide groove 78 of the base 34 .

At a given angular position of the actuation member 36 and movable portion 32 relative to the base 38 , the sealing member 68 ceases to come into contact with the neck 20 of the container 12 . The fastening element 62 is further disengaged from the complementary fastening element 100 .

In an alternate embodiment, the angular position at which the lid 30 and base 38 are separated is different than the angular position at which the sealing member 68 is disengaged from the neck 20 of the container 12 .

The movable part 32 is then in the unlocked position.

The user then holds the cover 30 and pivots the cover 30 relative to the base 38 about a horizontal axis.

The cover 30 pivots about the axis of the hinge 40 , actuating the movable part 32 and the base part 34 in an openable movement.

The opening 24 for access to the inner volume 22 is then clearly visible. A user accesses the cosmetic product contained in the container 12 via the access passage 94 of the base 38 .

Once the cosmetic product has been applied to the body surface, the user folds the cover 30 including the movable portion 32 down onto the base 38 along with the base 34 .

The user then operates the actuation member 36 with a movement opposite to that required to open the packaging device 10 .

The actuation member 36 transmits the operating movement to the movable part 32 .

As noted above, the movable portion 32 is guided in rotation by the engagement of the guide protrusion 66 of the movable portion 32 with the guide tab 76 of the base 34 . This defines a rotational movement of the movable part 32 about the axis AA' opposite to that required to open the device 10 .

The fastening element 62 engages on the complementary fastening element 100 and the movable part 32 translates along the axis AA' towards the container 12 in a direction opposite to that required to open the device 10 .

The sealing member 68 arranged inside the insertion space 56 of the movable portion 32 is again in contact with the neck 20 of the container 12 . The sealing member 68 sealingly closes the access opening 24 of the container 12 . The movable part 32 is in its locked position.

With the present invention and the related method, thanks to the presence of the movable part 32 equipped with the sealing member 68, it is possible to obtain a packaging device 10 of a cosmetic container 12 with a very satisfactory tightness, which ensures a long shelf life of the cosmetic product.

This tightness does not impede the ease of use of the closure assembly 14 due to the presence of the actuating member 36 accessible from the outside of the cover 30, so as to ensure simple operation between the locked and unlocked configurations.

Furthermore, the movable part 32 is completely hidden in the cover 30, and the shape of the cover 30 is independent of the shape of the movable part 32, maintaining a very pleasing visual appearance.

Furthermore, since the container 12 can be filled with cosmetics directly before the closure assembly 14 is assembled, the packaging of cosmetics on an industrial production line is greatly facilitated. Thus, the cap does not interfere with filling, and the closure assembly 14 can be handled separately from the container.

In particular, the closure assembly 14 can be snapped or screwed onto the container 12 directly in the closed position.

In an alternative embodiment (not shown), packaging device 10 does not have base 38 .
