Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates generally to motor vehicles and, more particularly, to a lighted lighting device specifically for motor vehicles.
Background
It is known that luminous lighting devices are arranged at the front and rear of a motor vehicle in order to, on the one hand, illuminate the road to improve the field of vision of the driver of the vehicle, in particular in night conditions, and, on the other hand, to indicate the position of the vehicle to other users of the road. In fact, luminous front lighting devices mainly comprise position lamps, dipped headlights and high beams, the different light intensities of these lamps enabling the lighting to be adapted to the external light conditions. To this end, the illuminated front lighting device comprises a plurality of light sources which can be actuated in order to activate different lamps.
Generally, the different light sources have the form of a plurality of halogen incandescent bulbs fitted inside a casing, the front surface of which is hermetically closed by a transparent resin, so that the light emitted by the light sources is directed toward the front of the vehicle. The function of such a housing is to protect the light source from external conditions, in particular rain water. However, such lighting devices with the illumination of an incandescent lamp have disadvantages, in particular in relation to a limited service life and a large power consumption of the incandescent lamp. Furthermore, such devices have a large volume and mass. Finally, such a closed housing does not allow a good evacuation of the heat released by the lamp.
Furthermore, from document FR3015003 a light-emitting lighting device is known which comprises a housing, the front surface of which is hermetically closed by a transparent lens. A plurality of diodes are mounted inside the housing and emit light that is directed by a reflector also mounted inside the housing. The diode is mounted on a heat sink extending outside the housing for cooling the diode. However, such lighting devices also have disadvantages. In fact, the protective casing that protects the diode and the reflector has a large volume. Also, the heat sink required to dissipate the heat emitted by the diode has a large volume.
Disclosure of Invention
The present invention therefore aims to overcome these drawbacks by providing a lighting device that emits light that is simple, reliable and of small volume.
In order to achieve this result, the invention relates to a luminous lighting device for a motor vehicle, comprising at least one diode adapted to emit light towards the front of the vehicle and a reflector adapted to reflect the light emitted by said diode, characterized in that it comprises a protective member having a shape similar to that of said reflector, said reflector and said protective member being preferably spaced from each other by a distance greater than 2 mm.
Thanks to the arrangement according to the invention, the diodes in an open lighting device can be protected due to the misalignment of the protection member with respect to the reflector.
Advantageously, the protective member has a varying thickness adapted to not deflect light reflected by the reflector. Therefore, there may be a protection member having a complicated shape without deflecting light rays emitted from the diode.
Advantageously, the diode is disposed between the protection means and the reflector.
Advantageously, the device comprises a wall coupling the protection member with the reflector.
Advantageously, the wall is integrally formed with the protective member.
Advantageously, the protection member cooperates with the reflector to form a hermetic protection of the diode.
Advantageously, the diode is mounted on a heat sink.
The invention also relates to a motor vehicle comprising at least one lighting device as described above.
Drawings
Other features and advantages of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description of embodiments of the invention, given by way of example only, and the accompanying drawings, in which:
figure 1 is a schematic view of a light-emitting lighting device according to the invention,
FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view of light propagating in the device of FIG. 1,
figure 3 is a cross-sectional view of light propagating through the protective member of the device of figure 2.
Detailed Description
In the following, the described embodiments are more specifically directed to the implementation of the lighting device according to the invention in a motor vehicle. However, the invention also aims at any implementation in different contexts, in particular in any type of vehicle.
Fig. 1 shows a luminous lighting device 1 according to the invention, and more precisely a front lighting device in the present case.
The lighting device 1 comprises a plurality of diodes 2, a reflector 3 for reflecting light emitted by the diodes 2, and a protective member 4 protecting the diodes 2.
The plurality of diodes 2 is adapted to emit light so as to illuminate the road in front of the vehicle. The Diode 2 is a Light Emitting Diode, also denoted by english as DEL or LED (i.e. "Light-Emitting Diode"). As is known, the diode 2 can be operated automatically as a function of the external brightness or manually by the vehicle driver. Furthermore, the light intensity of the light emitted by the diodes 2 can be adjusted, so that for example the same diodes 2 can be used for the low beam and the high beam. To control the diode 2, a circuit (not shown) controls the supply current of the diode 3.
The diode 2 is mounted on a heat sink (not shown) in order to dissipate the heat emitted by said diode 2.
The light emitted by the diode 2 propagates in different directions. Also, in order to direct the light toward the front of the vehicle, the light is reflected by the reflector 3.
The reflector 3 has the shape of a quadratic curve (also indicated as "spoon" shape) adapted to reflect the light emitted by the diode 2. Referring to fig. 2, the reflector 3 includes a substantially concave reflecting surface disposed to face the diode 2 so as to direct the light toward the front of the vehicle.
The protection member 4 is capable of protecting the diode 2 and the control circuit from, inter alia, impacts, dust, water, etc. To this end, the protective member 4 comprises a front wall 41 having a similar shape as the reflector 3. The front wall 41 of the protective member 4 is offset from the reflector 3 by a distance d, so that the diode 2 can be fitted between the reflector 3 and the protective member 4. The distance d is of the order of a few millimetres, preferably more than 2 millimetres.
The front wall 41 of the protective member 4 is made of a transparent material, for example plastic, so as to enable the light emitted by the diodes 2 to propagate through the front wall 41.
According to an advantageous aspect of the invention, the front wall 41 has a varying thickness E, as will be described below, so as not to deflect the light passing through the front wall 41.
The protection member further comprises lateral walls 42, 43, 44, 45 integral with the front wall 41 of the protection member 4, which enable coupling of the protection member 4 with the reflector 3 so as to form a protective casing around the diode 2. Preferably, the side walls 42, 43, 44, 45 are opaque, so that the light emitted by the diodes 2 is directed towards the front of the vehicle.
In the following description, the propagation of the light emitted by the lighting device 1 according to the invention is illustrated with reference to fig. 2 and 3.
Referring to fig. 2, the diode 2 emits a plurality of light rays 21 traveling in various directions. The light 21 then reaches the reflector 3 position, which reflector 3 reflects the light 22 to direct it towards the front of the vehicle.
The reflected light rays 22 then pass through the front wall 41 of the protective member 4, so that the light rays 23 output from the lighting device 1 illuminate the road in front of the vehicle.
As shown in fig. 3, the light ray 22 reaching the position of the front wall 41 is refracted by the front wall 41 at the position of the first surface 41A. Thus, the light ray 22 and the refracted light ray 24 form a first incident angle θ 1 and a first refraction angle θ'1 with respect to the normal n1 of the first surface 41A. The light rays 24 thus refracted then propagate in the wall 41 up to the second surface 41B, where the light rays 24 are refracted, forming at the same time the light rays 23 output from the lighting device 1.
The refracted light ray 24 and the light ray 23 output from the device 1 form a second incident angle θ 2 and a second refraction angle θ'2 with respect to the normal n2 of the second surface 41B.
Over a portion of the front wall 41, this front wall 41 has a thickness E that varies between two thickness values E ', E ″ calculated so that, on the one hand, the first angle of incidence θ 1 is equal to the second angle of incidence θ '2 and, on the other hand, the first angle of refraction θ '1 is equal to the second angle of incidence θ 2. By calculating the thicknesses E', E "of the different components of said front wall 41, the entire front wall 41 can be constituted thereby.
Due to the varying thickness E of the front wall 41, the reflected light ray 22 reaching the position of the front wall 41 and the light ray 23 propagating after passing the front wall 41 are advantageously parallel. That is, due to the varying thickness E of the front wall 41, the light emitted by the diode 2 is not deflected when passing through said front wall 41. This thus enables optimum guidance of the light in the lighting device 1 for illuminating the front of the vehicle.
Advantageously, the luminous lighting device 1 can be fitted to replace the traditional optical unit of a vehicle, so as to illuminate the front of said vehicle.
Furthermore, such a lighting device is easy and inexpensive to manufacture, light and small in volume, since it comprises a limited number of parts.
