Abstract

The invention discloses a display panel and a display device, which are used for improving the saw tooth feeling of the edge of a picture displayed by a special-shaped display panel and improving the display effect of the display device. The display panel comprises a display area and a non-display area adjacent to the display area, wherein the edge of the display area comprises a curved or oblique shaped edge portion, the display area comprises a plurality of first sub-pixels adjacent to the shaped edge portion and a plurality of second sub-pixels not adjacent to the shaped edge portion, and the non-display area comprises: each of the first sub-pixels includes a first light-emitting portion near the irregular edge portion, and a second light-emitting portion distant from the irregular edge portion and driven simultaneously with the first light-emitting portion; the second light-emitting parts of the first sub-pixels and the arrangement areas of the second sub-pixels are arranged in an array.

Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of display technologies, and in particular, to a display panel and a display device.
Background
A display panel of a display device is generally divided into a display area provided with a plurality of pixels (pixels) arranged in an array and a non-display area adjacent to the display area.
At present, in a common display device, such as a monitor, a television, a mobile phone, a tablet computer, etc., a display area of a display panel is usually a regular rectangle. With the development of scientific technology, the demand of the screen of the display device is more and more diversified, and therefore, the display area of the display panel is also often designed to be in a shape other than a regular rectangle, such as a circle, an ellipse, a polygon with rounded corners or chamfered corners, and the like, and such a display panel is generally called a special-shaped display panel.
As shown in fig. 1, a display area 2 of a conventional display panel 1 is designed to be rectangular with rounded corners 3. The prior art has a defect that when people watch a display picture at a short distance, a very obvious sawtooth shape 4 can be seen at the round angle 3, so that the display effect of the conventional special-shaped display panel is poor.
Disclosure of Invention
An embodiment of the invention provides a display panel and a display device, so as to improve the jaggy of the edge of a picture displayed by a special-shaped display panel and improve the display effect of the display device.
The display panel provided by the embodiment of the invention comprises a display area and a non-display area adjacent to the display area, wherein the edge of the display area comprises a curved or diagonal shaped edge part, the display area comprises a plurality of first sub-pixels adjacent to the shaped edge part and a plurality of second sub-pixels not adjacent to the shaped edge part, and the display area comprises:
each of the first sub-pixels includes a first light-emitting portion that is close to the irregular edge portion, and a second light-emitting portion that is distant from the irregular edge portion and is driven simultaneously with the first light-emitting portion;
the second light emitting parts of the plurality of first sub-pixels and the arrangement regions of the plurality of second sub-pixels are arranged in an array.
Optionally, the geometric outer contour of the plurality of first sub-pixels near the special-shaped edge portion matches the shape of the special-shaped edge portion.
Optionally, the display panel is an organic light emitting display panel.
Optionally, the first light emitting part and the second light emitting part of the first sub-pixel constitute a first organic light emitting unit, and the second sub-pixel is a second organic light emitting unit.
Optionally, the first organic light emitting unit and the second organic light emitting unit are rectangular in shape, and long sides of the first organic light emitting unit and the second organic light emitting unit are arranged along a column direction.
Optionally, the plurality of first organic light emitting units adjacent to the special-shaped edge portion are divided into a plurality of pixel units, and each pixel unit includes a red organic light emitting unit, a green organic light emitting unit, and a blue organic light emitting unit with equal areas.
Optionally, in one of the first sub-pixels, the first light emitting portion is a white organic light emitting unit, the second light emitting portion is a red organic light emitting unit, a green organic light emitting unit, or a blue organic light emitting unit, and an anode of the first light emitting portion and an anode of the second light emitting portion are disposed at an interval and electrically connected to each other.
Optionally, the shape of the display area is circular or elliptical.
Optionally, the special-shaped edge portion is a fillet or a chamfer.
In the technical solution of the above embodiment of the present invention, each first sub-pixel includes a first light emitting portion close to the special-shaped edge portion and a second light emitting portion far from the special-shaped edge portion and driven simultaneously with the first light emitting portion, and the second light emitting portions of the plurality of first sub-pixels and the arrangement areas of the plurality of second sub-pixels are arranged in an array, which is equivalent to extending each first sub-pixel to the special-shaped edge portion through the first light emitting portion, so that each first sub-pixel is closer to the special-shaped edge portion.
The embodiment of the invention also provides a display device which comprises the display panel in any technical scheme.
By adopting the technical scheme of the embodiment of the invention, the saw-tooth feeling of the edge of the picture displayed by the special-shaped display panel is effectively improved, so that the display device has better display effect.

Detailed Description
In order to improve the jaggy feeling of the edge of the image displayed by the display panel and improve the display effect of the display device, the embodiment of the invention provides the display panel and the display device. As shown in fig. 2, the display panel 100 according to the embodiment of the present invention includes a display area 20 and a non-display area 30 adjacent to the display area 20, an edge of the display area 20 includes a shaped edge portion 21 in a curved or oblique line shape, the display area 20 includes a plurality of first sub-pixels 22 adjacent to the shaped edge portion 21 and a plurality of second sub-pixels 23 not adjacent to the shaped edge portion 21, wherein:
each of the first sub-pixels 22 includes a first light-emitting portion 221 that is close to the irregular edge portion 21, and a second light-emitting portion 222 that is distant from the irregular edge portion 21 and is driven simultaneously with the first light-emitting portion 221;
the second light emitting parts 222 of the plurality of first sub-pixels 22 and the arrangement regions of the plurality of second sub-pixels 23 are arranged in an array.
In the embodiment shown in fig. 2, the display area 20 has a rectangular shape with rounded corners, and the edges of the display area 20 include four shaped edge portions 21, each shaped edge portion 21 having a curved shape of a circular arc.
In the embodiment shown in fig. 3, the display area 20 has an oval shape, and the entire edge of the display area 20 is a shaped edge portion 21.
In the embodiment shown in fig. 4, the display area 20 is polygonal with oblique angles, the edges of the display area 20 comprise four shaped edge portions 21, each shaped edge portion 21 being diagonal, i.e. each shaped edge portion 21 intersects both the row direction and the column direction.
It should be noted that, in the embodiment of the present invention, the shape of the display area 20 is not limited to the specific shape, and may also be a circle, a circular ring, a polygon with rounded corners or chamfered corners, and the like. The shape of the non-display area 30 may or may not match the shape of the display area 20, and is not particularly limited herein.
In the prior art, when people watch a display screen of the special-shaped display panel in a short distance, the pixel arrangement can be seen at the special-shaped edge to show a very obvious sawtooth shape, so that the display effect of the existing special-shaped display panel is poor.
As shown in fig. 2, in the above-mentioned embodiment of the invention, the plurality of first sub-pixels 22 of the display area 20 are adjacent to the special-shaped edge portion 21, that is, the plurality of first sub-pixels 22 are disposed at the arrangement edge corresponding to the special-shaped edge portion 21, and there is no other sub-pixel interval with the special-shaped edge portion 21; the plurality of second sub-pixels 23 of the display area 20 are not adjacent to the shaped edge portion 21, i.e. the plurality of second sub-pixels 23 are not adjacent to the shaped edge portion 21, and are spaced by a plurality of first sub-pixels 22. Each second sub-pixel 23 can be designed the same as the sub-pixel in the prior art, each first sub-pixel 22 includes a first light emitting portion 221 close to the irregular edge portion 21 and a second light emitting portion 222 far from the irregular edge portion 21 and driven simultaneously with the first light emitting portion 221, the second light emitting portions 222 of the first sub-pixels 22 are arranged in an array with the arrangement areas of the plurality of second sub-pixels 23, which is equivalent to extending each first sub-pixel 22 to the irregular edge portion 21 through the first light emitting portion 221, so that each first sub-pixel 22 is closer to the irregular edge portion 21.
As shown in fig. 2, in this embodiment of the present invention, the geometric circumscribed line (shown by a dotted line in the figure) of the plurality of first sub-pixels 22 near the shaped edge portion 21 matches the shape of the shaped edge portion 21. That is, the arrangement edge of the first sub-pixel 22 has the same curvature or slope as the irregular edge portion 21, so that the jaggy feeling of the edge of the picture displayed by the irregular display panel is further improved, and the display of the display device at the irregular edge is smoother.
In the embodiment of the present invention, the specific type of the display panel 100 is not limited. In the embodiment shown in fig. 2, the display panel 100 is an organic light emitting display panel, and in other embodiments of the present invention, the display panel may also be a liquid crystal display panel.
As shown in fig. 5, in the organic light emitting display panel, the main structure of the organic light emitting unit as the sub-pixel includes an anode 11, an organic light emitting layer 12 and a cathode 13 sequentially arranged in a direction away from the substrate, the anodes 11 of the adjacent organic light emitting units are spaced apart by a pixel defining layer 14, the organic light emitting layers 12 of the adjacent organic light emitting units are also spaced apart by the pixel defining layer 14, and the cathodes 13 of the respective organic light emitting units are connected as a cathode layer shared over the entire surface.
The light emitting principle of the organic light emitting unit is as follows: voltage is applied to the anode 11 of each organic light emitting unit, and by controlling the voltage applied to the anode 11 of each organic light emitting unit, an electric field between the anode 11 and the cathode 13 can be controlled, electrons and holes as carriers migrate from the cathode 13 and the anode 11 to the organic light emitting layer 12 respectively under the action of the electric field, and meet and combine in the organic light emitting layer 12 to form excitons, the excitons deactivate and release energy, the released energy excites the light emitting molecules of the organic light emitting layer 12, and the excited light emitting molecules emit visible light through radiation relaxation.
As shown in fig. 2, in this embodiment, the first light emitting portion 221 and the second light emitting portion 222 of the first sub-pixel 22 constitute a first organic light emitting unit, and the second sub-pixel 23 is a second organic light emitting unit. Namely: the first light emitting portion 221 and the second light emitting portion 222 of the first sub-pixel 22 are simultaneously driven to emit light as different portions of the first organic light emitting unit.
The specific shape of the first organic light emitting unit and the second organic light emitting unit is not limited, and as shown in fig. 2, in this embodiment, the first organic light emitting unit and the second organic light emitting unit are both rectangular in shape and have long sides disposed in the column direction. Each first organic light emitting unit extends to the irregular edge portion 21 through the first light emitting portion 221, and the arrangement edge of the first organic light emitting units is smooth, so that the saw tooth feeling of the edge of a picture displayed by the irregular display panel is effectively improved, and the display effect is improved.
As shown in fig. 6, in an alternative embodiment of the present invention, the plurality of first organic light emitting units adjacent to the shaped edge portion 21 are divided into a plurality of pixel units 220, and each pixel unit 220 includes red organic light emitting units 223, green organic light emitting units 224, and blue organic light emitting units 225 having equal areas. The red organic light emitting unit 223, the green organic light emitting unit 224, and the blue organic light emitting unit 225 mix light, thereby macroscopically rendering the pixel unit 220 to have a certain color.
In one pixel unit 220, the arrangement edges of the red organic light emitting unit 223, the green organic light emitting unit 224 and the blue organic light emitting unit 225 need to be matched with the shape of the special-shaped edge portion 21, so that the long side dimension l is sequentially increased, and the wide side dimension c is sequentially decreased, so that the same light emitting area and the same current density of the red organic light emitting unit 223, the green organic light emitting unit 224 and the blue organic light emitting unit 225 are ensured, and the pixel unit 220 can macroscopically present various colors.
As shown in fig. 7, in the alternative embodiment of the present invention, in one first sub-pixel 22, the first light emitting portion 221 is a white organic light emitting unit 226, the second light emitting portion 222 is a red organic light emitting unit 223, a green organic light emitting unit 224, or a blue organic light emitting unit 225, and the anode of the first light emitting portion 221 and the anode of the second light emitting portion 222 are disposed at an interval and electrically connected.
In this embodiment, the white organic light emitting unit 226 emits white light when lit, the red organic light emitting unit 223 emits red light when lit, the green organic light emitting unit 224 emits green light when lit, and the blue organic light emitting unit 225 emits blue light when lit. Since the anode of the first light-emitting portion 221 and the anode of the second light-emitting portion 222 are disposed at an interval and electrically connected, in one first sub-pixel 22, the first light-emitting portion 221 and the second light-emitting portion 222 emit light in different colors but are driven to emit light at the same time. By adopting the design scheme, the white organic light emitting unit 226 does not affect the color display of the display panel at the special-shaped edge portion 21, and can effectively improve the color edge phenomenon of the display panel at the special-shaped edge portion 21, thereby further improving the display quality.
As shown in fig. 8, an embodiment of the present invention further provides a display device, including the display panel 100 according to any one of the foregoing technical solutions.
The specific type of the display device is not limited, and may be, for example, a smart phone, a tablet computer, an advertisement display screen, a vehicle-mounted display device, or a smart wearable device, etc. The sawtooth feeling of the edge of the picture displayed by the special-shaped display panel is effectively improved, so that the display device has a better display effect.

A display panel comprising a display area and a non-display area adjacent to the display area, an edge of the display area comprising a shaped edge portion in a curved or diagonal shape, wherein the display area comprises a plurality of first sub-pixels adjacent to the shaped edge portion and a plurality of second sub-pixels not adjacent to the shaped edge portion, wherein:
each of the first sub-pixels includes a first light-emitting portion that is close to the irregular edge portion, and a second light-emitting portion that is distant from the irregular edge portion and is driven simultaneously with the first light-emitting portion;
the second light emitting parts of the plurality of first sub-pixels and the arrangement regions of the plurality of second sub-pixels are arranged in an array;
the display panel is an organic light emitting display panel;
in one of the first sub-pixels, the first light-emitting portion is a white organic light-emitting unit, the second light-emitting portion is a red organic light-emitting unit, a green organic light-emitting unit or a blue organic light-emitting unit, and an anode of the first light-emitting portion and an anode of the second light-emitting portion are arranged at an interval and electrically connected.
2. The display panel of claim 1, wherein a geometric circumscribed line of the plurality of first sub-pixels proximate the shaped edge portion matches a shape of the shaped edge portion.
3. The display panel according to claim 1, wherein the first light-emitting portion and the second light-emitting portion of the first sub-pixel constitute a first organic light-emitting unit, and wherein the second sub-pixel is a second organic light-emitting unit.
4. The display panel according to claim 3, wherein the first organic light emitting unit and the second organic light emitting unit are rectangular in shape and long sides are arranged in a column direction.

The display panel of claim 4, wherein a plurality of the first organic light emitting units adjacent to the shaped edge portion are divided into a plurality of pixel units, each of the pixel units including a red organic light emitting unit, a green organic light emitting unit, and a blue organic light emitting unit having an equal area.
6. A display panel as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 5 characterized in that the shape of the display area is circular or elliptical.
7. The display panel according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the shaped edge portion is a rounded corner or a chamfered corner.
