Abstract
The invention discloses an electric connector, which comprises a terminal seat and a metal shell, wherein the terminal seat comprises a body part, a tongue plate extending forwards from the body part, a step part positioned between the body part and the tongue plate and a terminal. The terminal includes a contact portion arranged on the tongue plate and a pin extending out of the body portion, the metal housing 10 is fixed on the body portion and surrounds the tongue plate and the step portion to form a docking cavity therebetween, and the metal housing includes an upper wall 104, a lower wall 105 and two opposite side walls 106 connecting the upper wall and the lower wall. The upper wall of the metal shell is provided with two spring plates 12 extending towards the butt joint cavity at the positions close to the front ends respectively, the two spring plates are arranged in parallel left and right, and the front and rear ends of the upper wall close to the spring plates are provided with a front convex point 141 and a rear convex point 142 which are punched towards the butt joint cavity respectively. The inner wall surface of the lower wall 105 is provided with two ribs 13 protruding into the butt joint cavity, the two ribs are arranged in parallel left and right, and each rib extends along the front-rear direction. The convex rib, the front convex point and the rear convex point of the metal shell provide good holding effect of the electric connector and the butting connector.

In order to achieve the purpose, the invention can adopt the following technical scheme: an electric connector comprises a terminal seat and a metal shell, wherein the terminal seat comprises a body part, a tongue plate extending forwards from the body part, a step part positioned between the body part and the tongue plate, and a terminal, the terminal comprises a contact part arranged on the tongue plate and a pin extending out of the body part, the metal shell is fixed on the body part and surrounds the tongue plate and the step part to form a butt joint cavity positioned between the tongue plate and the step part, and the metal shell comprises an upper wall, a lower wall and two opposite side walls connecting the upper wall and the lower wall; the upper wall of the metal shell is provided with two elastic sheets extending to the butt joint cavity at the positions close to the front end respectively, the two elastic sheets are arranged in parallel left and right, and the front end and the rear end of the upper wall close to the elastic sheets are provided with a front convex point and a rear convex point which are punched towards the butt joint cavity respectively; the inner wall surface of the lower wall is provided with two convex ribs protruding into the butt joint cavity, the two convex ribs are arranged in parallel left and right, and each convex rib extends along the front-back direction.
Compared with the prior art, the convex rib, the front convex point and the rear convex point of the metal shell provide good holding effect of the electric connector and the butting connector.

[ detailed description ] embodiments
The present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
Referring to fig. 1 to 2, an electrical connector 100 of the present invention is a board connector, which has a mating cavity 101 surrounded by a metal shell 10, the mating cavity extends forward, a flat tongue plate 102 extends into the mating cavity 101, and terminals 63 and 53 are arranged on both surfaces of the tongue plate. The cross section of the docking cavity is an approximately elliptical structure when viewed from front to back, and the docking cavity 101 is symmetrically arranged in the left-right and up-down directions with respect to the tongue plate 102, that is, the receptacle connector 100 can be inserted by a corresponding plug connector (not shown) in the forward and reverse directions. A metal cover 20 is fixed on the outer side of the metal shell 10, two sides of the metal cover are provided with pins 21 extending downwards for fixing the electrical connector on a circuit board (not shown), the metal cover 20 covers the top surface, two side surfaces and the back surface of the metal shell to play a good shielding role, and particularly, the back side wall 22 of the metal cover not only shields the back end surface of the electrical connector, but also has a welding point 23 welded on the surface to play a role in assisting welding.
Referring to fig. 3-4, the electrical connector 100 includes a tongue plate 30, a ground ring 40, upper and lower terminal modules 60 and 50 having the terminals, the metal shell 10, and a metal cover 20, wherein a shielding plate 31 is disposed in the tongue plate.
Referring to fig. 3 to 9, the shielding plate 31 is formed by injection molding with plastic to form the tongue plate 30, the tongue plate includes an insulating portion 32, a front region 311 of the shielding plate 31 is embedded in the insulating portion 32, a rear region 312 is exposed outside the insulating portion, two side edges and a front edge of the front region respectively protrude out of a front edge and a side edge of the insulating portion, and particularly, the insulating portion forms a gap at the side edge to expose the shielding plate 31, so that the shielding plate not only has a shielding effect, but also the gap provides a butt-joint fastening effect with a butt-joint connector, and the exposed shielding plate is also helpful for enhancing the strength of the tongue plate 102 and preventing the butt-joint connector from being damaged when the tongue plate collides with the butt-joint connector. Terminal grooves 321 are formed in two surfaces of the insulating part 32, which are located on two sides of the shielding plate, respectively, the shielding plate 31 is located between the terminal grooves on two sides of the tongue plate, the insulating part is provided with a plurality of round holes 322 with different sizes at places where the terminal grooves are not arranged, and the round holes are formed by withdrawing after a mold is pressed against the shielding plate in the injection molding process.
The grounding ring 40 includes a rectangular annular portion 41 and two plate-shaped grounding portions 42 extending from the rear edge of the annular portion, each grounding portion has a spring plate 43 stamped therein, each spring plate extends from front to back and a plurality of spring plates are arranged in a transverse direction. Referring to fig. 5-6, the grounding ring 40 is inserted into the tongue member 30 from the back to the front (in the direction of arrow a shown in fig. 5) and fixed on both lateral sides of the tongue member, and a gap 39 is formed between the grounding ring and both lateral sides of the tongue member. The tongue plate member 30 includes a tongue plate portion 33 on the front side and a fixing portion 34 on the rear side, and the size of the tongue plate portion 33 is larger than the fixing portion 34 in the lateral direction (the B-B direction shown in fig. 5). After the grounding ring 40 is sleeved in the tongue plate 30, the grounding ring 40 is sleeved on the fixing portion 34, the two short walls 411 of the annular portion 41 are fixed on the two sides of the fixing portion and the grounding ring is pressed forward against the back of the two sides of the tongue plate 33, the two long walls 412 of the annular portion and the tongue plate leave the gap 39, and the two grounding portions are respectively located on the two sides of the rear region 312 of the shielding plate 31.
The lower terminal module 50 includes a main body 51, a step 52 located at the front side of the main body, and a lower terminal 53, wherein the lower terminal 53 includes a contact portion 531 extending forward from the step and a pin 532 extending out of the main body. The lower terminal module 50 further includes an intermediate portion (not numbered) embedded in the plastic through the lower terminal 53, the insulating body portion 51 and the step portion 52 formed by injection molding of the lower terminal 53 and the plastic, and the pins 532 are bent downward from the rear end of the body portion 51 to form through hole type welding pins, and the pins are arranged in two rows. Referring to fig. 6 and 7, the lower terminal module 50 is fixed to the lower surface of the tongue member 30 from the rear to the front through the gap 39 between the ground ring and the tongue member. The contact portions 531 of the lower terminals are accommodated in the terminal grooves 321 a. Then, the positioning member 70 is installed into the lower terminal pin 532 of the lower terminal module from bottom to top, and two ends of the positioning member 70 are respectively provided with an upwardly extending locking leg 71, which is provided with an outwardly protruding hook 711 for hooking into the concave gap 5112 of the lower surface of the insulating portion of the lower terminal module.
The structure of the upper terminal module 60 is substantially the same as that of the lower terminal module, the upper terminal module 60 includes a main body 61, a step 62 located in the front of the main body, and an upper terminal 63, and the upper terminal 63 includes a contact portion 631 extending forward from the step and a pin 632 extending out from the main body. The upper terminal module 60 further includes a middle portion (not labeled) embedded in the plastic through the upper terminal 63, the insulating body portion 61 and the step portion 62 formed by injection molding of the upper terminal and the plastic, and the pins 632 are bent downward from the rear end of the body portion 61 to form surface-welding pins, and the pins are arranged in two rows. As shown in fig. 7-8, the upper terminal module 60 is secured to the upper surface of the tongue member 30 from the rear to the front through the space 39 between the ground ring and the tongue member. The contact portion 631 of the upper terminal is accommodated in the terminal groove 321 b.
As shown in fig. 3 and 4, the fixing portion 34 of the tongue plate member is provided with a stopper 341 at the joint with the tongue plate portion 33, the stopper protrudes from the fixing portion 34 in a vertical direction perpendicular to the tongue plate portion, and both sides of the step portion 52 of the lower terminal module 50 are provided with notch portions 521, and the notch portions are complementarily matched with the stopper. After the lower terminal module is inserted, the notch 521 is just matched with the stop 341, so that the lower terminal module can be prevented from moving forwards; the upper terminal module also has a corresponding structure. The lower terminal module and the upper terminal module are respectively provided with a fixing rib 513 and a groove 613 extending in the front-rear direction on the opposite surfaces, and the fixing rib and the groove are complementarily engaged with each other, so that when the upper terminal module is inserted into the gap 39, the groove 613 of the upper terminal module is restricted from moving along the fixing rib 513, thereby performing the functions of precise guiding installation and accurate positioning.
To sum up, the grounding ring 40 is inserted into the tongue plate from the back to the front and fixed at two lateral sides of the tongue plate, there is a gap between the grounding ring and two lateral sides of the tongue plate, the upper and lower terminal modules are inserted into the gap from the back to the front and fixed in the gap, the contact portions of the upper and lower terminals are respectively accommodated in the terminal slots, the step portions of the upper and lower terminal modules are fixed in the grounding ring, thereby forming the terminal base 103, as shown in fig. 8 and 9, the terminal base includes a main body portion (formed by the main body portions of the upper and lower terminal modules), a tongue plate 102 (formed by the tongue plate portion 33 of the tongue plate), and step portions (formed by the step portions of the upper and lower terminal modules) between the main body portion and the tongue plate, the terminals (including the upper and lower terminals) are fixed in the main body portion and include the contact portions arranged in the tongue plate 102, the metal shell 20 is fixed in the main body, the annular part of the grounding ring 40 is fixed on the step part, the two grounding parts are respectively attached to the two opposite sides of the body part, and the grounding parts form elastic sheets which elastically press against the metal shell. The grounding part is attached to the main body of the upper and lower terminal modules, the main body is provided with shallow recesses 611 and 511 (as shown in fig. 3 and 4), and the flat grounding part is accommodated in the shallow recesses 611 and 511. As shown in fig. 10, the front region 311 of the shielding plate is embedded in the tongue plate member, and the rear region 312 is exposed outside the tongue plate member and is held between the body portions 61, 51 of the upper and lower terminal modules.
Then, referring to fig. 8 to 10, the metal case 10 is mounted on the terminal block 103. The metal shell 10 is fixed to the body portions 61, 51 of the upper and lower terminal modules and surrounds the tongue plate and the ground ring, and the aforementioned butt joint cavity 101 is formed between the metal shell and the tongue plate and the ground ring. The metal shell 10 includes an upper wall 104, a lower wall 105 and two opposite side walls 106 connecting the upper wall and the lower wall, the upper wall 104 of the metal shell 10 is provided with two elastic sheets 12 extending to the docking cavity 101 at the position near the front end, the two elastic sheets 12 are arranged approximately parallel to each other left and right, each elastic sheet 12 extends from front to back, the upper wall 104 is provided with a front convex point 141 and a back convex point 142 stamped out of the docking cavity 101 at the front end and the back end near the elastic sheet 12, the inner wall surface of the lower wall 105 is provided with two convex ribs 13 protruding into the docking cavity 101, the two convex ribs are arranged in parallel left and right, each convex rib 13 extends along the front-back direction, the metal shell 10 is provided with pins 11 at the back ends of the two sides. As can be seen in fig. 10, the front lobes 141 are generally aligned above and below the leading edges 131 of the ribs, and the rear lobes 142 are further rearward than the trailing edges of the ribs. The elastic sheet provides good contact with the butting connector, and the convex ribs and the front and rear convex points provide good holding effect of the electric connector and the butting connector, so that the butting connector is prevented from shaking possibly.
Finally, the metal cover 20 is welded to the metal shell 10 by laser welding, as shown in fig. 12 (the surface has a welding trace 25), a convex cap 24 is disposed at the position of the elastic sheet 12 corresponding to the metal cover, so as to provide a certain displacement space for the elastic sheet 12 of the metal shell.
Claims (9)
1. An electric connector comprises a terminal seat and a metal shell, wherein the terminal seat comprises a body part, a tongue plate extending forwards from the body part, a step part positioned between the body part and the tongue plate, and a terminal, the terminal comprises a contact part arranged on the tongue plate and a pin extending out of the body part, the metal shell is fixed on the body part and surrounds the tongue plate and the step part to form a butt joint cavity positioned between the tongue plate and the step part, and the metal shell comprises an upper wall, a lower wall and two opposite side walls connecting the upper wall and the lower wall; the method is characterized in that: the upper wall of the metal shell is provided with two elastic sheets extending to the butt joint cavity at the positions close to the front end respectively, the two elastic sheets are arranged in parallel left and right, and the front end and the rear end of the upper wall close to the elastic sheets are provided with a front convex point and a rear convex point which are punched towards the butt joint cavity respectively; the inner wall surface of the lower wall is provided with two convex ribs protruding into the butt joint cavity, the two convex ribs are arranged in parallel left and right, and each convex rib extends along the front-back direction.
2. The electrical connector of claim 1, wherein: each convex rib is provided with a front edge and a rear edge, the front convex points are aligned with the front edges of the convex ribs up and down, and the rear convex points are more rear than the rear edges of the convex ribs.
3. The electrical connector of claim 2, wherein: the electric connector comprises a metal cover, and the metal cover is welded on the upper wall of the metal shell in a laser welding mode.
4. The electrical connector of claim 3, wherein: the metal cover is provided with a convex cap at the position corresponding to the elastic sheet so as to provide a certain displacement space for the elastic sheet.
5. The electrical connector of claim 4, wherein: the metal cover comprises a rear side wall for shielding the rear end face of the electric connector, and a welding point with a welded surface is protruded from the bottom edge of the rear side wall.
6. The electrical connector of claim 1 or 5, wherein: the electric connector comprises a grounding ring, and the grounding ring is fixed on the step part.

The electrical connector of claim 6, wherein: the grounding ring comprises an annular part fixed on the step part and two grounding parts extending backwards from the annular part, the grounding part is attached to the body part, and the grounding part is in mechanical contact with the metal shell.
8. The electrical connector of claim 7, wherein: each grounding part is punched to form a row of transversely arranged elastic sheets which elastically press against the metal shell, and each elastic sheet extends from front to back.
9. The electrical connector of claim 1, wherein: the electric connector comprises a positioning piece for positioning the terminal pins, two ends of the positioning piece are respectively provided with a locking pin extending upwards, and the locking pins are fixed on the body part.
