Abstract

The invention relates to a device for packaging cosmetic articles (29, 42), comprising: -a base (12) defining a storage compartment for a cosmetic product (29); -a plate (16) rotatably movable on the base; -a cover (14) rotatably movable on the base. The axis of the plate and the axis of the cover form an angle of less than or equal to 90 deg.. The receptacle provided in the panel (16) comprises a bottom (38) and an elastically deformable side wall (56). In the contact configuration, one edge (54) of the plate is in contact with an inner surface (60) of the cover. Moving the cover toward the closed position causes the panel to slidably move toward the closed configuration. In the contact configuration, a bottom (38) of the receptacle is in contact with the substrate. Moving the panel to the closed configuration brings the base closer to the axis of the panel.

The present invention relates to a device for packaging cosmetic articles, of the type comprising: a base defining a storage compartment internally for accommodating a first cosmetic article; rotatable along a first axis a plate mounted on the base, the plate movable between a closed configuration in which the plate seals the storage compartment, and an open configuration, the plate including along the a first edge disposed along the first axis and a second edge remote from the first edge; and a cover rotatably mounted along the second axis, the cover moveable between a closed position and an open position, wherein the lid covers the panel in a closed position, the lid including an inner surface oriented towards the base in the closed position, thereby allowing a plane parallel to the second axis and containing the first axis , the projection of the first axis relative to the second axis forms an angle less than or equal to 90°.

Background technique

The term "cosmetic article" according to the present invention denotes a cosmetic product for application to a person, eg a solid, liquid or paste such as a powder. A "cosmetic product" is more generally a product as defined by EU Regulation No 1223/2009 on cosmetic products, adopted by the European Parliament and the Council on 30 November 2009.

The term "cosmetic article" also refers to a tool for applying a cosmetic product to the body surface, such as a brush, touch-up brush or sponge. A "cosmetic item" may also be a cosmetic treatment tool such as a nail file.

The packaging device is suitable for containing and moving cosmetic articles for storage, sale and use of the cosmetic articles. The packaging device is, for example, a case or box suitable for being contained in a handbag. Such packaging devices are described in particular in documents WO 2013/004771 and WO 2013/178731 held by the applicant, or in documents US 1875245, JPS60106508 and JPH01108207.

When the cosmetic items contained in the storage compartment are of the fluid or powder product type, it is advantageous to provide a tight closure for said compartment by means of a plate. Therefore, the product is less prone to soiling the inner surface of the cover, which usually includes a mirror. It is also preferred that, despite this tight closure, the opening and closing of the device is easy.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

For this purpose, the present invention relates to a packaging device of the type described above, wherein a receptacle is provided in the plate to accommodate the second cosmetic item, said receptacle comprising a bottom and side walls adapted to elastically deformed to increase the diameter under the influence of the base and the second axis moving closer together; the device is adapted to adopt a contact configuration in which the second edge of the plate is in contact with the inner surface of the cover by sliding the second edge against the inner surface moves the lid towards the closed position, thereby causing the plate to tend to move towards the closed configuration; and, in the contact configuration, the bottom of the receptacle is in contact with the base, causing The plate moves towards the closed configuration, thereby causing the base to tend to move closer to the second axis.

According to other advantageous aspects of the invention, the packaging device, alone or in any technically feasible combination, comprises one or more of the following features:

- the elastically deformable side walls of the receptacle form a seal such that, in the closed configuration of the plate, the seal is pressed against the side surface of the base so as to tightly close the storage compartment;

- said side walls forming the seal have a circular profile;

- said first axis and said second axis are substantially parallel;

- the base has a top surface positioned to face the inner surface of the lid in the closed position, the top surface comprising two substantially parallel opposite edges, the first axis and the second axis each of which extends along one of said edges;

- said first axis and said second axis are substantially perpendicular;

- the cover comprises a mirror, and the inner surface is a reflective surface of the mirror;

- the first cosmetic item is a cosmetic product and the second cosmetic item is an applicator for the cosmetic product.

The invention also relates to a method of using the above device, comprising the steps of: - in the open configuration, the panel is folded down towards the base; then in the open position the cover is folded towards the base The base is folded down to place the device into the contact configuration; the lid is then moved to the closed position, moving the lid causing the second edge of the plate to abut the lid The inner surface of the slide slides in order to move the plate to the closed configuration.

The invention also relates to a method of using a device comprising a seal as described above, said device further comprising a mechanism for locking said lid in said closed position, said method comprising the steps of: in said closed position, The lid is unlocked; the seal, which is then compressed by the side surface of the base in the closed configuration, deforms when moved away from the side surface so as to bring the plate toward the open configuration type pivot.

Detailed ways

1 to 3 show a packaging device 10 according to a first embodiment of the present invention. Figure 4 shows a packaging device 110 according to a second embodiment of the present invention. In the following description, unless otherwise emphasized, the described elements are similar for device 10 and device 110 and are designated by the same reference numerals.

Consider the standard orthonormal basis (X, Y, Z), where the direction Z represents the vertical direction.

A cosmetic container type device 10, 110 includes a base 12 and a lid 14 that is rotatable relative to the base. The device 10 , 110 also includes a plate 16 that is also rotatable relative to the base 12 .

The base 12 includes a bottom wall 18 which is substantially flat and is arranged in a plane (X, Y). The base 12 also includes side walls 19 arranged substantially in the plane (Y, Z). The base 12 also includes a front wall 20 and a rear wall 21 arranged substantially in a plane (X, Z).

In the example in Figures 1 to 4, the walls 19, 20, 21 form a substantially square or rectangular profile. In addition, regular or irregular contour shapes are also possible, in particular circular, polygonal or rectangular.

The front wall 20 is partly formed by a button 22 movable in the direction Y. Optionally, the button 22 is an element mounted on the front wall 20 . The button 22 is rigidly connected to the hook 23 . As described below, the button 22 and hook 23 are part of the mechanism used to lock the lid 14 in the closed position.

The base 12 also includes a top wall 24 that is substantially flat and arranged in a plane (X, Y). The top wall 24 connected to the walls 19, 20, 21 has a substantially square or rectangular profile.

The central cavity 25 of the base 12 opens onto the top wall 24 . The central chamber 25 is arranged along an axis 26 parallel to Z.

Viewed from the bottom wall 18 , the chamber 25 includes a first side wall 27 having a cylindrically-turned shape. The first side wall 27 defines a compartment 28 for receiving the first cosmetic item 29 . The first cosmetic item 29 is, for example, a cosmetic product, such as a powder or a paste, for application to the body surface.

Contrary to the bottom wall 18 , the first side wall 27 is extended by a shoulder 30 arranged in the plane (X, Y) and then by the second side wall 31 . The second wall 31 has a cylindrical shape of revolution, the diameter of which is larger than the diameter of the first wall 27 .

The second side wall 31 is connected to a truncated surface 32 which flares at the top until it touches the top wall 24 of the base.

At the end of the rear wall 21 , the top wall 24 includes a hollow surface 33 . This surface 33 is preferably located in the corner of the top wall 24 .

In the embodiment of Figures 1 to 3, the base 12 is formed from two parts that are interlocked with each other. Bottom member 34 includes side walls 19 , front wall 20 and rear wall 21 , and a portion of bottom wall 18 . Top plate 35 includes top wall 24 and walls of chamber 25 . In an alternative embodiment shown in FIG. 4 , the side walls 19 , the front wall 20 and the rear wall 21 are rigidly connected to the top panel 35 . Other alternative embodiments are possible.

The plate 16 includes a flat portion 36 that is similar in shape and size to the top wall 24 of the base 12 in shape and size. Specifically, the flat portion 36 has a substantially square and rectangular profile. In the closed configuration of device 10, as shown in FIG. 2, flat portion 36 is arranged in plane (X, Y).

The central receptacle 37 of the plate 16 opens onto the flat portion 36 . The central receptacle 37 includes a flat bottom 38 substantially parallel to the flat portion 36 . Bottom 38 is connected to flat portion 36 by sidewall 40 . The side wall 40 of the plate 16 has a circular cross-section with a diameter similar to that of the second side wall 31 of the base 12 . Embodiments of the sidewall 40 of the panel 16 will be described in detail below.

The central receptacle 37 defined by the flat bottom 38 and the side walls 40 is used to accommodate the second cosmetic item 42 . The second cosmetic item 42 is, for example, an applicator for applying the cosmetic product 29 . In the example of Figures 1-3, the second cosmetic item is a sponge 42 having a substantially circular profile.

The plate 16 is mounted on the base 12 , in particular on the top wall 24 , via two hinges 44 . Hinged portion 44 represents a first axis 46 of rotation of plate 16 relative to base 12 . The first axis 46 is disposed proximate the front wall 20 of the base 12, substantially parallel to said wall.

The first portion 48 of each hinge 44 is rigidly connected to the top wall 24 of the base 12 in the vicinity of the front wall 20 . The second portion 50 of each hinge 44 is rigidly connected to the flat portion 36 of the plate 16 . Each second portion 50 forms a protrusion along Y relative to the first edge 52 of the flat portion 36 .

The second edge 54 of the flat portion 36 is opposite the first edge 52 . According to one embodiment, the second edge 54 is substantially rectilinear. According to an alternative embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 4 , the second edge 54 has a curvilinear shape with the convexity oriented towards the outside of the plate 16 .

The plate 16 is movable between the open configuration shown in FIG. 1 and the closed configuration shown in FIG. 2 . In the closed configuration, the central receptacle 37 of the plate 16 is received in the cavity 25 of the base 12 in a manner that seals the compartment 28 .

More specifically, in the closed configuration, the peripheral portion of the flat bottom 38 of the receptacle 37 of the plate 16 is in contact with the shoulder 30 of the cavity 25 of the base 12 .

Furthermore, the devices 10, 110 include means 56, 156 for establishing intimate contact between the plate 16 and the second side wall 31 of the chamber 25 in the closed configuration. In the embodiment of FIGS. 1-4 , the mechanisms 56 , 156 are rigidly connected to the plate 16 as described below.

In the embodiment of FIGS. 1-3 , the mechanism 56 of the device 10 includes the outer surface 56 of the side wall 40 of the plate 16 , the side wall 40 having the shape of a torus portion. More specifically, as seen in FIGS. 2 and 3 , the side wall 40 has a curve in a plane passing through the axis 26 . The convex surface of the curve is oriented opposite to the axis 26 . In the open configuration, the largest diameter of the outer surface 56 is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the second side wall 31 of the chamber 25 . Furthermore, in the open configuration, the distance between the flat portion 36 and the flat bottom 38 of the receptacle 37 is slightly greater than the distance along Z between the top wall 24 of the base 12 and the shoulder 30 .

The side wall 40 is adapted to deform elastically in a plane passing through the axis 26 . More specifically, the side wall 40 is adapted to increase in diameter under the influence of moving the flat portion 36 and the flat bottom 38 closer together so as to come into contact with the second side wall 31 . Therefore, the outer surface 56 has a sealing function and is in close contact with the second side wall 31 of the chamber 25 .

The side walls 40 of the plate 16 are preferably formed from an elastically deformable material such as a thermoplastic elastomer such as SEBS or nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) or silicone. In the embodiment of FIGS. 1-3 , the wall 40 is, for example, molded onto the bottom 38 and then assembled with the flat portion 36 .

In the embodiment in FIG. 4 , the wall 40 of the plate 16 is molded onto both the bottom 38 and the flat portion 36 . In a similar manner to that described above, the outer surface 156 of the wall 40 has a sealing function, coming into intimate contact with the second side wall 31 of the chamber 25 .

In the embodiment of FIGS. 1-4 , the side wall 40 has a circular profile in a plane parallel to the flat portion 36 . However, other contour shapes are conceivable, such as elliptical contours.

Similarly, in a plane perpendicular to the flat portion 36, the side wall 40 may have a different shape in cross-section than the torus portion. Said shape preferably has a curved portion towards the outside of the accommodating portion 37 .

In the open configuration in FIG. 1 , the bottom surface 58 of the base 38 faces upwardly. In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1-4, the bottom surface 58 is smooth and smooth. According to a first alternative embodiment, the bottom surface 58 includes spikes or rough areas. According to a second alternative embodiment, the bottom surface 58 includes a decorative portion or a writing portion. According to a third alternative embodiment, the bottom surface 58 includes a receptacle for a third cosmetic item. The third cosmetic item is, for example, a second cosmetic product, of the same type as product 29 but of a different color.

Cover 14 includes a substantially flat inner surface 60 . In the closed configuration of the lid 14 visible in Figure 2, the inner surface is arranged in the plane (X, Y).

The inner surface 60 has a similar shape and dimensions to the top surface 24 of the substrate 12 and the flat portion 36 of the plate 16 . The cover 14 in particular has a substantially square or rectangular profile.

In the embodiment of Figures 1-4, the cover 14 includes a mirror 62, the inner surface 60 of which is the reflective surface of the mirror.

The cover 14 is mounted on the base 12 via two hinges 64 . Hinged portion 64 represents a second axis 66 of rotation of lid 14 relative to base 12 . The second axis 66 is arranged near the rear wall 21 of the base 12, substantially parallel to said wall.

In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1-4, the second axis 66 is substantially parallel to the first axis 46 of rotation of the plate 16, the two axes 46, 66 being substantially contained in the same plane (X, Y). According to an alternative embodiment, the projection of the first axis 46 and the second axis 66 in a plane parallel to the second axis 66 and containing the first axis 46 forms less than 90°, preferably less than 30°, more preferably between 0° and 10° the angle between °. Preferably, the first axis 46 and the second axis 66 are substantially coplanar and form an angle of less than 90°, preferably less than 30°, more preferably less than 10°.

The first portion 68 of each hinge 64 is rigidly connected to the top wall 24 of the base 12 in the vicinity of the rear wall 21 . The second portion 70 of each hinge 64 is rigidly connected to the first edge 72 of the cover 14 .

The lid 14 is movable between the open position shown in FIG. 1 and the closed position shown in FIG. 2 . In the closed position, the lid 14 covers the panel 16 in the closed configuration with the inner surface 60 facing or in contact with the flat portion 36 of the panel 16 .

The second edge 74 of the cover 14 opposite the first edge 72 includes a groove 76 adapted to engage with the hook 23 to lock the cover 14 in the closed position in FIG. 2 .

According to an alternative embodiment, the hook 23 and the groove 76 are replaced by a magnetic lock, for example by two magnets supported by the button 22 and the cover 14, respectively.

Optionally, the lid 14 includes perforations or apertures (not shown) to allow the receptacle 37 to communicate with the outside of the device 10, 110 when the lid is in the closed position. The wet sponge 42 can thus dry inside the device 10, 110, preventing the risk of mold.

Figures 5-6 and 7-9 illustrate packaging devices 210, 211 according to third and fourth embodiments of the present invention, respectively. In the description below, elements of packaging devices 210 and 211 that are similar to elements of devices 10 and 110 are denoted by the same reference numerals unless otherwise emphasized.

Consider the standard orthonormal basis (X, Y, Z), where the direction Z represents the vertical direction.

In a similar manner to the devices 10, 110, the devices 210, 211 include: a base 212; a plate 216 rotatably mounted on the base along a first axis 46; and rotatably mounted along a second axis 66, 266 on the base Cover 214 on the base.

In a similar manner to the devices 10, 110, the devices 210, 211 also include a mechanism 222 for locking the lid and base in the closed position.

For the base 12 in FIGS. 1-4, the base 212 includes a bottom wall 18 that is substantially flat and arranged in a plane (X, Y). However, the base 212 also includes a side wall 219 having a substantially cylindrical convoluted shape. The profile of the base 212 is thus substantially circular.

The base 212 also includes a substantially flat top wall 224 arranged in a plane (X, Y), the top wall 224 having a substantially circular profile.

The central chamber 25 opens onto the top wall 224 . The central chambers 25 of the devices 210 , 211 match those described above with respect to the central chambers 25 of the devices 10 , 110 . In particular, the central chamber 25 comprises two cylindrical side walls 27, 31 connected by a shoulder 30 arranged in a plane (X, Y). The first side wall 27 defines a compartment 28 for containing a first cosmetic item, such as the cosmetic product 29 shown in FIG. 2 .

The first axis 46 of rotation of the plate 216 relative to the base 212 is substantially parallel to X and is arranged in the same plane (X, Y) as the top wall 224, or in a plane along Z near the top wall 224. As in the case of the devices 10, 110, the plate 216 is movable between an open configuration and a closed configuration. The closed configuration of the device 211 is shown in particular in FIG. 9 as a cross-section along the plane (X, Y).

The plate 216 includes a flat portion 236 having a substantially circular profile, wherein the first edge is in contact with the axis of rotation 46 . The central receptacle 37 opens onto the flat portion 236 . The accommodating portion 37 is for accommodating a second cosmetic item, such as the sponge 42 shown in FIG. 1 .

The central receptacles 37 of the devices 210 , 211 match those described above with respect to the central receptacles 37 of the devices 10 , 110 . Specifically, the central receptacle 37 includes a flat bottom 38 that is substantially parallel to the flat portion 36 . Bottom 38 is connected to flat portion 236 by elastically deformable side walls 40 .

In the closed configuration, the central receptacle 37 is received in the cavity 25 of the base 12 so as to seal the compartment 28 . The peripheral portion of the flat bottom 38 is then in contact with the shoulder 30 of the central cavity 25 of the base 212 .

As in the case of the devices 10, 110, the side wall 40 is adapted to increase in diameter under the influence of moving the flat portion 236 and the flat bottom 38 closer together. In the closed configuration, the outer surface 56 of the side wall 40 may thus come into contact with the second side wall 31 of the central chamber 25 to form a seal closing the compartment 28 .

Flat portion 236 includes second edges 254 , 255 positioned away from axis of rotation 46 . According to a first alternative embodiment, the second edges 254 , 255 have the shape of a circular arc with the same radius as the rest of the flat portion 236 . According to a second alternative embodiment, corresponding to FIGS. 5 to 9 , the second edges 254 , 255 have a substantially rectilinear shape, parallel to the axis of rotation 46 . In the latter case, the second edges 254, 255 preferably comprise bevels, as described below.

Cover 214 includes a substantially flat inner surface 260 . The inner surface 260 has a similar shape and size as the flat portion 236 of the plate 216 and the top surface 224 of the base 212 . The cover 214 in particular has a substantially circular profile.

In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 5-9 , the inner surface 260 is formed by the reflective surface of the mirror 62 .

The second axes 66, 266 of rotation of the plate 214 relative to the base 212 are arranged in the same plane (X, Y) as the top wall 224, or in a plane near the top wall 224 along Z. As in the case of the devices 10 , 110 , the lid 214 is movable between an open position and a closed position shown in particular in FIG. 9 . In the closed position, the mirror 62 is in contact with the flat portion 236 of the plate 216 .

In the embodiment of FIGS. 5 and 6 , the first axis 46 and the second axis 66 are substantially parallel and arranged on either side of the central chamber 25 , similar to the devices 10 , 110 . The second edge 254 of the flat portion 236 of the plate 216 is positioned opposite the axis of rotation 46 relative to the receptacle 37 so as to be proximate the second axis 66 in the closed configuration of the plate 216 .

In the embodiment of FIGS. 7-9 , the second axis 266 forms an angle α with the first axis 46 by projection in the plane (X, Y). The angle α is less than or equal to 90°, preferably less than 90°. In the embodiment of FIGS. 7-9 , the first axis 46 and the second axis 266 are substantially perpendicular, the angle α being, for example, between 85° and 90°. As shown in FIG. 9 , the second edge 255 of the flat portion 236 of the plate 216 is disposed proximate the second axis 266 in the closed configuration of the plate 216 .

A method of operating the device 10, 110, 210, 211 will now be described. In the open position of the lids 14, 214 and in the open configuration of the plates 16, 216, as shown in FIG. 1, the user may use the sponge 42 to extract the cosmetic product 29 and apply it to the body surface. Mirror 62 is optionally used to monitor coating. The bottom surface 58 of the bottom 38 is optionally used to work with the product 29 with the sponge 42 or to sweep away excess product 29 prior to application. Where the bottom surface 58 includes a receptacle for a second cosmetic product, both products can be used simultaneously.

When the coating operation has been completed, the user folds the plate 16 , 216 down towards the substrate 12 , 212 in order to insert the bottom 38 of the plate 16 , 216 into the cavity 25 of the substrate 12 , 212 . Bottom 38 comes into contact with shoulder 30 of chamber 25 . Thus, plate 16 is in the configuration seen in Figure 3; then, plate 216 is in the configuration seen in Figures 5-6 and 7-8.

To facilitate transitioning to the closed configuration of the panels 16 , 216 , the user folds the lids 14 , 214 downward until the inner surfaces 60 , 260 contact the second edges 54 , 254 , 255 of the panels 16 , 216 .

The plates 16 and cover 14 of the devices 10, 110 are then in the contact configuration shown in FIG. 3 . The plate 216 and cover 214 of the device 210 are then in a similar contact configuration as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6 .

Specifically, the inner surfaces 60 , 260 of the covers 14 , 214 form an angle β with the flat portions 36 , 236 of the plates 16 , 216 . Preferably, the angle β is between 5° and 60°.

Plate 216 and cover 214 of device 211 are in an additional contact configuration as shown in FIGS. 7 and 8 .

FIG. 8 is a cross-sectional view of the device 211 along a vertical plane that is perpendicular to the second axis 266 and substantially forms the plane of symmetry of the compartment 28 . In the vertical plane, the inner surface 260 of the cover 214 forms an angle γ with the flat portion 236 of the plate 216 . Preferably, the angle γ is between 5° and 60°.

Where the second edges 254, 255 are substantially rectilinear and chamfered, the bevels are shaped such that in the contact configuration between the second edges 254, 255 and the inner surface 260 of the cover A maximum contact surface area can be formed, as shown in FIGS. 6 and 8 .

From the contact configuration, the user applies a force on the lids 14, 214 that tends to move the lids to the closed position. For example, the user presses onto the top of the cover 14 , 214 , particularly near the edge 74 . Movement of the cover 14 , 214 causes the second edge 54 , 254 , 255 of the plate 16 , 216 to slide along the inner surface 60 , 260 toward the second axis 66 , 266 .

The inner surfaces 60, 260 formed by the mirror 62 have a smooth feel, which facilitates the sliding of the second edges 54, 254, 255.

In the case of the devices 210, 211, the second rectilinear, preferably chamfered, edges 254, 255 have a larger surface area of contact with the inner surface 260 than rounded edges. Therefore, less force is applied to close the lid.

The flat portions 36, 236 of the panels 16, 216 are thus folded down toward the top surfaces 24, 224 of the bases 12, 212. The bottom 38 of the receptacle 37 abuts the shoulder 30 and the distance between the bottom 38 and the flat portion 36 is reduced. This reduction results in an increase in the diameter of the lateral outer surfaces 56 , 156 of the wall 40 until it comes into intimate contact with the second side wall 31 of the chamber 25 .

The lids 14 , 214 are then in a closed position, such as shown in FIG. 2 . The grooves 76 fit onto the hooks 23 , locking the cover 14 .

In a single action, the user can thereby establish intimate contact between the plate 16, 216 and the base 12, 212 and place the lid 14, 214 into the closed position. The movement of the plates 16, 216 with the cover 14, 214 provides leverage that minimizes the force required to transition the plates 16, 216 to the closed configuration.

In the closed position, the flat inner surfaces 60 , 260 exert uniform pressure on the seal formed by the wall 40 and the second side wall 31 . In particular, this uniformity of pressure is enhanced by the inner surfaces 60 , 260 formed by the mirrors 62 .

Furthermore, the compression between the second side wall 31 and the outer surfaces 56, 156 of the wall 40 eliminates the need to add a system for locking the panels 16, 216 in the closed configuration.

Conversely, to open the device 10 , 110 from the closed position of the lid 14 , the user presses on the button 22 to disengage the hook 23 from the groove 76 . A similar device 222 enables the lids 214 of the devices 210, 211 to be opened.

Preferably, once the lids 14, 214 are unlocked, the compressive force exerted by the walls 31 on the outer surfaces 56, 156 of the walls 40 tends to eject the central receptacles 37 of the plates 16, 216 onto the bases 12, 212. outside of chamber 25. Thereby, the flat portions 36, 236 and the bottom 38 of the plates 16, 216 move away from each other. The plate 16 of the device 10 is in the contact configuration shown in FIG. 3 . The plates 216 of the devices 210, 211 are in the contact configuration shown in Figures 5-6 and 7-8, respectively.

Popping the plates 16, 216 also tends to pivot the lids 14, 214 toward the open position, up to the contact configuration in Figures 3 and 5-6 and 7-8. The user can then complete the pivoting of the lids 14 , 214 and plates 16 , 216 to the open configuration in FIG. 1 and pick up the sponge 42 stored in the receptacle 37 .

Alternatively, for the devices 10, 110, if the receptacle 37 does not automatically eject from the chamber 25, the user pivots the unlocked lid 14 about the second axis 66 to the open position, and then the user inserts a finger into the between the plate 16 and the hollow surface 33 of the base 12 in order to have sufficient pressure to lift and pivot the plate 16 .

The devices 10 , 110 are then in the configuration in FIG. 1 , suitable for use with cosmetic articles 29 , 42 .

The arrangement of the cover 14, 214 and the plate 16, 216 on either side of the base 12, 212, respectively, does not require changing the grip of the device 10, 110, 210, 211 during its use.

Preferably, with the exception of the mirror 61 and the side wall 40, the various elements forming the device 10, 110, 210, 211 are moulded by injection moulding a thermoplastic material of the polymer type, such as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), styrene acrylonitrile (SAN) or polypropylene.

The plate 16 of the device 110 is preferably molded by double injection molding, wherein the flat portion 36 and bottom 38 are injected first and then the wall 40 is injected. To manufacture the plate 16 of the device 10, the flat portion 36, the bottom 38 and the side walls 40 may also be molded and assembled, respectively.

The bottom portion 34 and top plate 35 that form the base 12 are preferably molded separately prior to assembly.

The embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 9 requires only 4 to 6 different injection molds to manufacture the devices 10 , 110 . By comparison, existing similar products require at least 7 injection molds.

Claims (10)

1. Device (10, 110, 210, 211) for packaging at least one cosmetic article (29, 42), comprising:

-a base (12, 212) defining internally a storage compartment (28) for housing a first cosmetic article (29);

-a plate (16, 216) rotatably mounted on the base along a first axis (46), the plate being movable between a closed configuration in which the plate seals the storage compartment and an open configuration, the plate comprising a first edge (52) arranged along the first axis and a second edge (54, 254, 255) remote from the first edge;

-a cover (14, 214) rotatably mounted along a second axis (66, 266), the cover being movable between a closed position in which it covers the plate and an open position, the cover comprising an inner surface (60, 260) oriented towards the base in the closed position;

such that, in a plane parallel to the second axis (66, 266) and containing the first axis (46), the first axis forms an angle (a) with the projection of the second axis which is less than or equal to 90 °;

the method is characterized in that:

-a housing (37) is provided in the plate (16, 216) for housing a second cosmetic article (42), the housing comprising a bottom (38) and a side wall (40) adapted to deform elastically to increase in diameter under the influence of the bottom and the second axis moving closer together;

-said device is adapted to adopt a contact configuration in which said second edge (54, 254, 255) of said panel is in contact with said inner surface (60, 260) of said cover, said cover being moved towards said closed position by sliding said second edge against said inner surface, thus causing said panel to tend to move towards said closed configuration; and is

-in the contact configuration, the bottom (38) of the housing is in contact with the substrate, moving the panel towards the closed configuration, thus causing the bottom to tend to move closer to the second axis.

2. Device according to claim 1, wherein the elastically deformable side wall (40) of the housing (37) forms a seal (56, 156) such that, in the closed configuration of the panel, it is compressed by the lateral surface (31) of the substrate, so as to close tightly the storage compartment (28).

3. The device according to claim 2, wherein the side wall (40) forming the seal (56, 156) has a circular profile.

4. The device (10, 110, 210) of claim 1, wherein the first axis (46) and the second axis (66) are substantially parallel.

5. The device (10, 110) of claim 4 wherein the base has a top surface (24) positioned to face an inner surface (60) of the cover in the closed position, the top surface including two substantially parallel opposing edges (20, 21), the first axis extending along one of the two substantially parallel opposing edges and the second axis extending along the other of the two substantially parallel opposing edges.

6. The device (211) according to claim 1, wherein the first axis (46) and the second axis (266) are substantially perpendicular.

7. The device of claim 1, wherein the cover (14, 214) includes a mirror (62), the inner surface (60, 260) being a reflective surface of the mirror.

8. Device according to claim 1, wherein the first cosmetic article (29) is a cosmetic product and the second cosmetic article (42) is an applicator of the cosmetic product.

9. A method of using the apparatus of claim 1, comprising the steps of:

-in the open configuration, the panel (16, 216) is folded down towards the base (12, 212); then the

-in the open position, the cover (14, 214) is folded down towards the base so as to place the device into the contact configuration; then the

-the cover (14, 214) is moved to the closed position, moving the cover causing the second edge (54, 254, 255) of the panel to slide against the inner surface (60, 260) of the cover so as to move the panel to the closed configuration.

10. Method of using a device according to claim 2, the device comprising a mechanism (22, 23) for locking the lid in the closed position, the method comprising the steps of:

-in the closed position, the lid (14) is unlocked; then the

-the seal (56, 156) being pressed by a side surface (31) of the base in the closed configuration is deformed when moved away from the side surface, so as to pivot the plate (16) towards the open configuration.
