Abstract

A mattress assembly is provided that includes a mattress, a mattress overlay, and a mattress cover comprised of a first cover and a second cover. The first cover includes a top panel, a bottom panel, and continuous side panels that collectively define a cavity and enclose the mattress. The mattress overlay is located on top of the mattress and the first mattress cover. Referring to FIGS. 1-6 , in an illustrative embodiment of the present invention, a mattress assembly 10 is provided that includes a first cover 20 having a top panel 22 , a bottom panel 24 and continuous side panels 30 . Regardless of the type of mattress or mattress cover included in the exemplary mattress assembly of the present invention, and still referring to FIGS. In yet a further exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the second cover 40 of the mattress assembly 10 can also include an amount of phase change material contained in the top surface 42 of the second cover 40 . Claims (20)

1. A mattress assembly comprising: Mattress; mattress coverings; and A mattress cover, said mattress cover comprising: a first cover having a top panel, a bottom panel, and continuous side panels that together define a cavity for enclosing the mattress, a second cover having a top surface and a bottom surface, the second cover defines a boundary, and the second cover is positioned between the mattress cover and at least the top panel of the first cover above and sized to cover said mattress topper and at least a top panel of said first cover, and A fastener connecting the second shroud to the first shroud along a border of the second shroud. 2. The mattress assembly of claim 1 , wherein the mattress, the mattress topper, or both the mattress and the mattress topper are constructed of flexible foam. 3. The mattress assembly of claim 2, wherein the flexible foam is a viscoelastic foam. 4. The mattress assembly of claim 1, wherein the mattress, the mattress topper, or both the mattress and the mattress topper include one or more air cells. 5. The mattress assembly of claim 1, wherein the mattress, the mattress topper, or both the mattress and the mattress topper include a plurality of innersprings. 6. The mattress assembly of claim 1, wherein the continuous side panel can be characterized as comprising a head panel, a foot panel, and two opposing side panels. 7. The mattress assembly of claim 6, wherein the second cover is sized to cover the mattress topper, the top panel, and an upper half of each opposing side panel. 8. The mattress assembly of claim 1, wherein the fastener comprises one or more zippers extending around a border of the second cover. 9. The mattress assembly of claim 8, wherein the fastener is a two-way zip fastener. 10. The mattress assembly of claim 1, wherein the second cover includes an amount of phase change material. 11. The mattress assembly of claim 1, wherein at least the bottom surface of the second cover comprises a water impermeable and vapor permeable material. 12. The mattress assembly of claim 1, wherein the first cover, the second cover, or both the first cover and the second cover are constructed of textile. 13. The mattress assembly of claim 1, wherein the first cover, the second cover, or both the first cover and the second cover are constructed of a flame retardant material. 14. The mattress assembly of claim 1, wherein the first cover, the second cover, or both include indicia indicating that the bed A feature of the mattress, the mattress topper, or both the mattress and the mattress topper. 15. The mattress component of claim 14, wherein the indicia is a pattern or color. 16. The mattress assembly of claim 15, wherein the indicia is a pattern, and wherein the pattern is located on the top surface of the second cover. 17. The mattress assembly of claim 1, wherein the first cover further includes a zipper for securing the first cover about the mattress, the zipper extending around a border of the bottom panel. 18. The mattress assembly of claim 1, wherein the first cover further comprises a brand label attached to the first cover. 19. A mattress assembly comprising: Mattress; a first mattress cover enclosing the mattress; a mattress topper positioned on top of the mattress and the first mattress cover; a second mattress defining a boundary, the second cover positioned over the mattress cover and at least the top panel of the first cover and sized to cover the bed a pad cover and at least a top panel of said first enclosure; and A fastener connecting the second shroud to the first shroud along a border of the second shroud. 20. A mattress cover comprising: a first cover having a top panel, a bottom panel, and continuous side panels that together define a cavity for enclosing the mattress, a second cover having a top surface and a bottom surface, the second cover defining a boundary and sized to be positioned over a mattress cover and at least a top of the first cover a panel above and covering the mattress topper and at least the top panel of the first cover, and A fastener connecting the second shroud to the first shroud along a border of the second shroud.
