Abstract
The invention discloses a manual-gear vehicle engine restart controlling system and a manual-gear vehicle engine restart controlling method. The system comprises an information acquiring sub system, a starter controller and a starter, wherein the information acquiring sub system comprises a key position switch, a neutral gear switch, a clutch pedal bottom position switch and a vehicle network; the starter controller is configured to respond to a gear signal to indicate that the gear is neutral gear or respond to a clutch pedal position signal to indicate that a clutch pedal is positioned at the bottom position, when the engine is judged to stall and the neutral gear switch and the clutch pedal bottom position switch are judged to not fail, so that the starter is controlled to start an engine.
Description
Technical Field
The present disclosure relates to the field of vehicle engine control, and more particularly to engine restart control systems and methods for manual transmission vehicles.
Background
When the vehicle starts by driving the manual gear, a driver starts the engine by a key, then steps on the clutch pedal and engages the gear, and then slowly lifts the clutch pedal to start the vehicle. In this process, the engine is liable to stall. In this case, the driver must depress the clutch pedal or engage neutral to restart the engine, and then start the engine with the key.

Fig. 1 is a schematic configuration diagram of an engine restart control system for a manual transmission vehicle according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 1, an engine restart control system includes an information acquisition subsystem, a starter controller, and a starter. The information acquisition subsystem comprises a key position switch, a neutral gear switch, a clutch pedal bottom position switch, an engine rotating speed sensor and a whole vehicle network. The starter controller is capable of receiving a key position signal from a key position switch, an engine speed signal from an engine speed sensor, a gear signal from a neutral switch, a clutch pedal position signal from a clutch pedal bottom switch, and a vehicle speed signal from a vehicle network. The key position signal may include OFF (OFF position), ON (ON position), START (START position). The gear signal indicates whether the gear is in a neutral state. The clutch pedal position signal indicates whether the clutch pedal position is in a bottom position, i.e., whether the clutch pedal is fully depressed.
According to the embodiment of the invention, when judging that the engine is stalled, the starter controller can restart the engine by a signal sent by pressing the clutch pedal to the bottom or shifting the gear to the neutral position instead of starting the engine by screwing the key to the START position. Further, before restarting the engine, the starter controller will also determine whether the neutral switch and the clutch pedal bottom switch have failed, because the failed neutral switch and the clutch pedal bottom switch will make the restart unsafe, resulting in false operation of the starter.

In another embodiment, a method of controlling engine restart for a manual transmission vehicle is disclosed, the method comprising the steps of: when the starter controller determines that the engine is stalled and determines that the neutral switch and the clutch pedal bottom switch are not in fault, the starter controller controls the starter to enable the engine to be started in response to the gear signal indicating that the gear is in neutral or in response to the clutch pedal position signal indicating that the clutch pedal position is in the bottom.
