观看设备105是观众在其上观看视频节目的设备。观看设备101可以是例如电视、计算机、平板电脑、智能电话或者能够呈现视频媒体的其他设备。在一些实施例中，观看设备被连接到外部设备111，例如，机顶盒（STB）、游戏机、流式内容接收机或者类似的设备。在这些实施例中，节目流102当在观看设备302上呈现视频之前通过外部设备111。
在观看视频期间，交互式事件103可以被触发以被传送给消费者。交互式事件103可以在“带内”被嵌入到节目流102中以由外部设备111接收或者直接由观看设备101接收。备选地，ITV事件103可以“在带外”流式传输到观看设备101、外部设备111或者配套设备106。在一些实施例中，配套设备106不显示视频流，而是由消费者结合观看设备101和/或外部设备111一起使用。

在一些实施例中，在向观看设备或配套设备发送ITV应用之前查阅偏好数据库，并且如果不允许，则根本不向设备发送ITV应用。在一些实施例中，这被规定用于诸如视频点播（VOD）等的单播广播或在带外传送ITV应用的互联网流式传输或多播广播。

如果设备（101和/或106）从系统接收到“允许”（205），则设备执行ITV应用事件。
如果设备（101和/或106）从系统接收到“不允许”（206），则设备不执行ITV应用事件。在一些实施例中，系统可以被设置为每当ITVapp事件被其偏好阻止时向观众提供通知。在一些实施例中，观众可以从包括以下各项中的一个或多个选项中进行选择：允许app/事件仅这次运行、允许app/事件始终（包括这次）运行、不考虑消息、或者不考虑消息并且请求将来不看见此类消息。
如果设备（101和/或106）从系统接收到“有条件地允许”（204），则如果满足一个或多个所需条件，那么设备将执行ITV app。例如，在一些实施例中，如果需要PIN，则向观众提示输入其PIN并且需要对数据库进行第二次调用以验证PIN。在一些实施例中，如果需要“询问我”，则向观众提示输入是/否响应，并且系统相应地执行或不执行app。

基于所述交互式电视应用事件产生查询以确定是否执行所述交互式电视应用；
确定包含一个或多个用户偏好的偏好数据库是否被本地存储；
根据表示所述偏好数据库未被本地存储的确定，对非本地的所述偏好数据库确认所述查询，根据表示所述偏好数据库被本地存储的确定，对本地的所述偏好数据库确认所述查询，从而确定用户偏好；以及
基于所确定的所述用户偏好来确定以下各项中的至少一项：允许、不允许、或者有条件地允许在所述用户的设备上执行所述交互式电视应用事件，
其中，在确定不允许所述交互式电视应用事件时，不向所述用户的设备发送所述交互式电视应用事件。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其中，如果有条件地允许在所述用户的设备上执行所述交互式电视应用，则所述方法还包括：
对用户设备的用户产生用于进行所需输入的提示；
从所述用户接收所述输入；以及
当在所述用户的设备上执行所述交互式电视应用事件之前，检查所述输入是否满足指定条件。

提供用户界面，所述用户设备的用户能够通过所述用户界面来定义用于允许、不允许或有条件地允许在所述用户的设备上执行所述交互式电视应用事件的一个或多个细节。

将中央服务器的偏好数据库复制到所述用户的设备上的数据库。

12.根据权利要求11所述的系统，其中，所述一个或多个计算机处理器被进一步配置为：
如果确定有条件地允许所述交互式电视应用事件，对所述用户设备的用户产生用于进行所需输入的提示；
从所述用户接收所述输入；以及
当在所述用户的设备上执行所述交互式电视应用事件之前，检查所述输入是否满足指定条件。
13.根据权利要求12所述的系统，其中，所述所需输入是个人标识号PIN。
