Description

The present invention relates to a refrigeration appliance, and more particularly to a refrigeration appliance having a front beam spanning a front end of a storage compartment.

Refrigeration appliances having a front beam spanning a front end of a storage compartment are known in the art, and the storage compartment may be divided into a first storage space on one side of the front beam and a second storage space on the other side of the front beam relative to the front beam. A general refrigerator has a first door and a second door to close a first storage space and a second storage space, respectively, and sealing gaskets at rear sides of the first door and the second door are seated against front beams, respectively, when the first door and the second door are closed. Such solutions can be found, for example, in patent applications JP6-159918, JP 7-180944, US2009-0167130 and CN 1093627C.
In the prior art, although the front beam is usually provided with an insulating material to reduce the loss of cooling capacity in the storage compartment, the front beam has a small load bearing force in the longitudinal direction, which limits the arrangement of the door of the refrigeration appliance.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a refrigeration appliance having a front beam with improved load bearing.
The above object is achieved by the features of the independent claims. Preferred embodiments of the invention are the subject of the figures, the description and the dependent claims.
Accordingly, one aspect of the present invention is directed to a refrigeration appliance comprising a cabinet having a storage compartment with a pair of opposed insulated sidewalls; a front beam spanning front ends of the pair of side walls, the storage compartment being divided into an upper storage space and a lower storage space with respect to the front beam; the front beam comprises a containing cavity and a heat insulation component positioned in the containing cavity; wherein the front beam includes a stiffener at least partially received within the receiving cavity.
Thus, the load-bearing force of the front beam can be significantly enhanced, and it is expected that the front beam will bear a compressive force in the longitudinal direction.
According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the refrigerator includes a first door to selectively close or open the upper storage space; a second door to selectively close or open the lower storage space; and a hinge for pivotably connecting at least the first door to the cabinet; wherein the hinge and the stiffener are connected, and the front beam supports at least the first door in a longitudinal direction. By supporting the first door closing the upper storage space on the front beam having increased strength, the connection between the first door and the cabinet may be a pivotal connection, thereby facilitating the storage/retrieval of the articles in the upper storage space at the position to/from the height.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, said reinforcing element extends outside said housing chamber and is connected to at least one of said side walls. This may significantly enhance the load bearing capacity of the reinforcement.
According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the front beam includes a front plate, and an extension of the reinforcement outside the accommodation chamber is attached to a rear surface of the front plate. This can avoid the influence of the reinforcement extending outside the accommodation chamber on the appearance of the refrigeration appliance and facilitate the connection of the reinforcement, the front plate and the cabinet.
According to a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the device comprises at least one fixing element, which is fixed to the side wall through the front plate, the extension.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the side wall comprises an outer panel, the reinforcement being connected to the outer panel. This is advantageous in increasing the strength of the front beam and reducing the possibility of deformation of the inner box of the box body.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the reinforcement is made of metal.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the front beam comprises a first and a second housing piece together defining the receiving cavity, the first or the second housing piece having a slit for passing the reinforcement.
According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the reinforcing member has a stepped portion which is completely received in the receiving cavity, and the extending portion has a plate shape. When the heat insulating member of the front beam is formed by foaming in the accommodating space, the plate-like extension portion is advantageous in reducing leakage of the foaming agent in the slot.
According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the storage compartment is a refrigerating compartment located at an upper portion of the cabinet.
According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the front beam includes a housing member defining the receiving chamber, a front plate fixed to a front side of the housing member, and a condensation preventing pipe between the housing member and the front plate, wherein the housing member is provided with a receiving groove receiving the condensation preventing pipe.

[ detailed description of the invention ]
Referring to fig. 1, a refrigeration appliance 1 includes a thermally insulated cabinet 2. The cabinet 2 has a first packing compartment 3 and a second packing compartment 4. The first storage compartment 3 and the second storage compartment 4 are separated by an insulated partition wall 5. In this embodiment, the first and second storage compartments 3, 4 are defined by first and second substantially box-shaped bladders 6, 7, respectively, and the partition wall 5 is formed by a bottom wall of the first bladder 6 and a top wall of the second bladder 7 and an insulating layer therebetween.
In this embodiment, the first holding compartment 3 is located in the upper part of the refrigeration appliance 1 and the second holding compartment 4 is located in the lower part of the refrigeration appliance 1. The first storage compartment 3 is a refrigerating compartment and the second storage compartment 4 may be a freezing compartment.
The left and right walls 31, 41 of the first packing compartment 3 are formed by the left and right side walls of the first liner 6, respectively, on the inner surfaces thereof and by the outer side panels 311, 411 on the outer surfaces thereof. The front sides of the outer panels 311, 411 are bent inward to form connecting edges 312, 412 for connecting with the first inner bag 6.
The refrigeration appliance 1 comprises a rod-like front beam 8 spanning across the front ends of the left and right walls 31, 41 of the first storage compartment 3. The first packing compartment 3 is divided into an upper packing space 9 and a lower packing space 10 with respect to the front beam 8. The front surface of the front beam 8 and the front end surface of the box body 2 are substantially in the same plane. The refrigeration appliance 1 may further comprise a shelf 15 supported at its front end on the front beam 8.
The refrigeration appliance 1 includes first, second and third doors 11, 12 and 13 for closing the upper, lower and second storage spaces 9, 10 and 4, respectively.
The first door 11 and the second door 12 are hinged to the front side of the cabinet 2. The refrigerator 1 comprises a hinge 14 fixed to the front beam 8. In this embodiment, the first door 11 and the second door 12 are each connected with a hinge 14. So that the front beam 8 bears the weight of the first door 11.
Referring to fig. 2 to 6, the front beam 8 includes a front housing member 81 and a rear housing member 82 connected to the front housing member 81, and the front housing member 81 and the rear housing member 82 together define a receiving chamber 83. In this embodiment, the front and rear housing members 81 and 82 have opposing slots, respectively, that mate to form a receiving cavity 83. In an alternative embodiment, the receiving space can be formed essentially by one of the housing parts (for example the rear housing part), while the other housing part can essentially serve to close the receiving space. In another alternative embodiment, the two housing parts can also be connected opposite one another.
The accommodating chamber 83 is provided with a heat insulating member 84. In this embodiment, the heat insulating member 84 is formed by injecting a foaming agent into the containing chamber 83 to be foamed. The front housing piece 81 or the rear housing piece 82 may be provided with an injection hole (not shown).
The injection hole may be provided on one side end wall of the front beam 8 so that the injection hole can be hidden when the front beam 8 is mounted on the cabinet 2.
In an alternative embodiment, it is also possible to incorporate a pre-foamed insulating element (for example an EPS element) into the housing chamber 83.
The front beam 8 includes a front plate 86 fixed to the front side of the front housing member 81. The front plate 86 is made of metal, and rear sides of the first and second doors 11 and 12 are butted against the front plate 86 when the first and second doors 11 and 12 are closed.
The upper and lower edges of the front panel 86 have rearwardly bent flanges 87. The front wall of the front housing piece 81 is provided with a pair of slots 88 for receiving corresponding flanges 87 to position the front plate 86 on the front side of the front housing piece 81. The front plate 86 may be fixed to the front housing member 81 by a plurality of screws. The front plate 86 is preferably fastened to the front housing part 81 after the foaming process of the cabinet 2 has been completed.
The flange 87 at the lower edge of the front plate 86 may be provided with two asymmetric bosses 89, and the front housing part 81 may also be formed with corresponding recesses, which may constitute a fool-proof structure, facilitating the prevention of a worker from making mistakes during installation.
The front plate 86 includes a connection portion 861 to be connected with the left and right walls 31 and 41 of the case 2. The attachment portion 861 extends laterally beyond the end wall 90 formed by the front and rear housing pieces 81 and 82. The connecting portion 861 has a first through hole 862 for passing a fixing member 95 (not shown), such as a screw.
An anti-condensation device may be provided between the front plate 86 and the front housing part 81. The anti-condensation device can be an electric heater, and can also be an anti-condensation pipe 816 connected with the condenser. In this embodiment, the front side of the front housing member 81 is provided with a receiving groove 815 for receiving the anti-condensation tube 816, the receiving groove 815 extending laterally over the entire length of the front housing member 81.
The front beam 8 includes a reinforcement 80 for connection with the hinge 14. The reinforcing member 80 is attached to the rear surface of the front housing member 81 and is located in the receiving chamber 83. The reinforcing member 80 may be made of metal. The strength of the front beam 8 is also effectively increased to support the weight of the first door 11 by providing the reinforcement 80 connected to the hinge 14 in the front beam 8.
To further reinforce the strength of the front beam 8, the reinforcement 80 includes an extension 801 that extends outside the accommodation chamber 83 and is connected to the box body 2. In this embodiment, the reinforcement 80 is provided at the right end of the front beam 8, and the extension 801 extends beyond the end wall 90 on the right side of the front beam 8 and is affixed to the rear surface of the corresponding attachment portion 861. The extension 801 is provided with a second through hole 802 corresponding to the first through hole 862.
The stiffener 80 has a step 803 to accommodate the slot 88 of the front housing piece 81. The step 803 extends laterally along the slot 88 and terminates inside the end wall 90 of the front housing part 81, the extension 801 being plate-like.
The front housing member 81 is provided with a slit 811 on its right side wall for passing through the extension 801. During foaming of the front beam 8, appropriate bubble leakage prevention measures should be taken to prevent the foaming agent from leaking from the slit 811.
When assembled, the attachment portion 861 and the extension portion 801 on the right side of the front frame 8 are positioned in front of the right wall 41 of the case 2. Specifically, the connecting portion 861 and the extending portion 801 are located in front of the inwardly bent connecting edge 412 of the outer side plate 411 of the right wall 41. The fixing member 95 passes through the hole of the connecting edge 412, the first through hole 862 and the second through hole 802 in order to fix the front plate 86, the reinforcing member 80 and the case 2 directly together.
After the foaming process of the cabinet 2 is completed, the hinge 14 is fixed to the front beam 8 and is connected to the reinforcement 80 by a screw. The first door 11 connected to the hinge 14 is supported on the front beam 8.
In the above embodiment, the reinforcement is provided only at one end of the front beam 8. It will be appreciated that it is also possible to provide reinforcement at both ends of the front beam 8, if desired, or in an alternative embodiment, the reinforcement may extend laterally along the entire length of the front beam 8.
The various embodiments of the individual components described in connection with fig. 1 to 5 may be combined with each other in any given way to achieve the advantages of the invention. In addition, the present invention is not limited to the illustrated embodiments, and other means than those shown may be generally used as long as the same effects are obtained.
Claims (8)
1. A refrigeration appliance comprises
A cabinet having a storage compartment defined by a liner and having a pair of opposed insulated sidewalls;
a front beam spanning front ends of the pair of side walls, the storage compartment being divided into an upper storage space and a lower storage space with respect to the front beam; the front beam comprises a housing cavity, a housing piece for limiting the housing cavity, a front plate fixed on the front side of the housing piece and a heat insulation component positioned in the housing cavity;
the front beam is characterized in that a reinforcing piece connected with a hinge is arranged at one end or two ends of the front beam, one end of the reinforcing piece is accommodated in the accommodating cavity, and the other end of the reinforcing piece comprises an extending part extending out of the accommodating cavity and connected with one corresponding side wall;
and at least one fixing member penetrating through the front plate and the extension portion and fixed to the side wall.
2. The refrigeration appliance according to claim 1, comprising,
a first door to selectively close or open the upper storage space; and
a second door to selectively close or open the lower storage space;
the hinge is used for pivotally connecting at least the first door to the box body;
wherein the hinge and the reinforcement are connected such that the front beam supports at least the first door in a longitudinal direction.
3. The refrigeration appliance according to claim 1 wherein said front panel includes a connection portion for connection to said side wall, said connection portion extending beyond an end wall of said housing, said extension portion resting on a rear surface of said connection portion.
4. The refrigeration appliance according to claim 1 wherein said side wall comprises an outer panel, said outer panel comprising an inwardly bent connecting edge, said front panel comprising a connecting portion for connection to said side wall, said reinforcement member being connected to said outer panel, said fastener passing through a hole in said connecting edge, a first through hole in said connecting portion and a second through hole in said reinforcement member in that order to secure said front panel and said reinforcement member to said side wall.

The refrigeration appliance according to claim 1 wherein said reinforcement is made of metal, said housing including a front housing and a rear housing connected to said front housing, said reinforcement being located within said receiving cavity against a rear surface of said front wall of said housing.
6. The refrigeration appliance according to claim 1 wherein said front beam comprises first and second housing pieces which together define said receiving cavity, said first or second housing piece having a slit for passage of said reinforcement member.
7. The refrigeration appliance according to claim 1 wherein said reinforcement member has a step portion adapted to a slot of said housing, said slot receiving a rearwardly bent flange of said front panel, said step portion being fully received in said receiving cavity, said extension portion being flat.
8. The refrigeration appliance according to claim 1, wherein said front beam comprises a condensation preventing tube between said housing member and said front panel, wherein said housing member is provided with a receiving slot for receiving said condensation preventing tube.
