Abstract

An image display device and an operation method thereof. The operation method comprises the following steps: responding to a starting-up instruction received by the image display device, detecting at least one of an image or a sound of a current user to identify the current user; (ii) obtaining at least one favorite channel/program option associated with the current user according to the identification result; and (iii) displaying the at least one favorite channel/program option on the graphical display device for selection by the current user.

Television has been closely connected with people's life. With the development of science and technology, in addition to watching TV programs on the TV, more and more application programs can be executed on the TV. For now, although people can control the television set by a remote controller, its control convenience is still insufficient. For example, every time a user turns on the TV, it takes a long time to watch one channel after another in turn before selecting a favorite TV program/channel. In another embodiment, before displaying at least one associated favorite channel/program/application option among the users, a user selection form may be displayed for the user to select one of the users. For example, the user selection form may include multiple user options, each user option corresponding to one of the identified users. The user can (eg, use a remote control) select one of the user options in the selection list to control the display unit 120 to display the channel/program option associated with the selected user.

In the present application, the processing unit 127 and/or the image processing unit 115 and/or the facial recognition unit 117 and/or the sound spectrum recognition unit 121 can be realized by means of hardware, software or hardware plus software.
