Signal and power contactor 226,228 pass hole 252 from contact organizer 202 and extend, engaging with mated connector assembly 108, and from installation interface 204 extensions to engage with motherboard 104 (shown in Fig. 1).Signal and power contactor 226,228 provide the electrical connection between motherboard 104 and the daughter board 106 (shown in Fig. 1).Can be provided with and be different from many signalling contacts 226 shown in Figure 2 and/or power contactor 228.Signal and power contactor 226,228 pass termination connector assembly 102 transverse to mating surface 250 and installation interface 204 and extend. For example, signal and power contactor 226,228 also can pass termination connector assembly 102 and extend on the direction of hanging down as for mating surface 250 and installation interface 204.
Signalling contact 226 matches with mated connector assembly 108 (shown in Fig. 1) and motherboard 104 (shown in Fig. 1), with two or more data-signals (shown in Fig. 1) dissimilar or pattern of transmission between motherboard 104 and daughter board 106.For example, signalling contact 226 can be with two or more different mode electrical transmission information, control signal, data etc. between motherboard 104 and daughter board 106.In the embodiment shown in Fig. 2, signalling contact 226 is arranged to 226 transmission of the signalling contact in first group 230, the first differential pair signal pattern, and transmits the second differential pair signal pattern with the signalling contact 226 in second group 232.The first differential pair signal pattern can be transmitted differential pair signal according to the speed or the bigger mode of speed of the differential pair signal of being transmitted than the second differential pair signal pattern of use.The 3rd group 234 with the 4th group 236 in signalling contact 226 be arranged through the differential signal pattern that the analog coaxial connector transmits to have different electrical impedance characteristics. For example, the signalling contact 226 in the 3rd group 234 can be simulated the coaxial connector with electrical impedance characteristic lower than the coaxial connector in the 4th group 236.In one embodiment, signalling contact 226 is the transmission electronic signal only, and is not used in to any other parts (not shown) power supply that is electrically connected on motherboard 104 or the daughter board 106.
Signalling contact 226 among every group of 230-236 is isolated from each other on contact organizer 202.For example, in the embodiment shown in Fig. 2, the signalling contact 226 among every group of 230-236 does not intert mutually each other to be arranged. The differential pair mode of the signalling contact of arranging in 230 and 232 groups 226 comprises paired 238 signalling contacts of arranging 226.Differential pair signal of every pair 238 transmission of signalling contact 226.For example, the signalling contact 226 in first and second group 230,232 can transmit differential pair signal to 238 between daughter board 106 (shown in Fig. 1) and motherboard 104 (shown in Fig. 1).Signalling contact 226 in first group 230 can submitting on October 13rd, 2008 as the separate case pending trial, name is called the U.S. Patent application No.12/250 of " connector assembly with noise reduction contact arrangement ", and the noise reduction differential signal contacts that discloses in 268 (" 268 applications ") is to arranging.Signalling contact 226 in first group 230 in every pair 238 can be orientated line 244 along the contact.Adjacent contacts is oriented relative to one another to laterally line 244 238 contact. For example, the contact of phase adjacency pair 238 is perpendicular to one another to line 244.Signalling contact 226 238 grids by ground signalling contact 226 are separated each other. The grid of ground signalling contact 226 is arranged with concentric ring 932, the straight line representative ring 932 of signalling contact 226.In the embodiment show in figure 3, ground signalling contact 226 comprises and the signalling contact 226 of electric coupling electrical ground. The concentric ring 932 of ground signalling contact 226 can be lowered into crosstalking between 238 signalling contacts of arranging 226.
Signalling contact 226 in second group 232 grid is at regular intervals arranged. For example, be spaced apart from each other on first and second directions 256,258 of signalling contact 226 in the plane of the upper face 254 of contact organizer 202.First and second directions 256,258 can be horizontal each other in common plane. For example, contact organizer 202 defines a plane, and first and second directions 256,258 on this plane are extended on vertical each other direction. The plane parallel of motherboard 104 (shown in Fig. 1) and daughter board 106 (shown in Fig. 1) among common plane that limits by contact organizer 202 and the same embodiment. The rule network at interval of signalling contact 226 allows the multiple utilization to signalling contact 226.Such as, some signalling contacts 226 can be used as earthing contact, and other signalling contacts 226 can be used for transmission of data signals simultaneously. In one embodiment, the signalling contact 226 in second group 232 is used to transmit the signal that is different from differential pair signal.Such as, signalling contact 226 can transmit the data-signal that is different from differential pair signal.
Signalling contact 226 in third and fourth group 234,236 is arranged by group 240,242.Comprise signalling contact 226 for every group 240,242, and be configured to analog coaxial ways of connecting transmission signals by coaxial signal contact mode arrangement. For example, the signalling contact 226 in this coaxial signal contact pattern can come the analog coaxial connector by transmission RF signal between motherboard 104 (shown in Fig. 1) and daughter board 106 (shown in Fig. 1).Only by example, the group 240 of signalling contact 226 can be simulated the coaxial connector with the impedance that approaches 50 Europe, and the group 242 of signalling contact 226 can be simulated the coaxial connector with the impedance that approaches 75 Europe.Signalling contact 226 can be simulated the coaxial connector with different impedances. As the associated description in following Fig. 6 and 8, signalling contact 226 can be simulated the coaxial connector with different impedance operators by the interval that increases or reduce between the signalling contact 226.
In one embodiment, the signalling contact 226 among each group 230-236 all is identical each other. For example, has substantially similar size and comprise or can be used as the signalling contact 226 of each group among 230-236 by one type contact identical or that similar material is formed.Signalling contact 226 has identical width 246 in the plane of the upper face 254 that is parallel to contact organizer 202.Transverse to the direction of measuring identical width 246 and be parallel on the direction in the plane of upper face 254 of contact organizer 202, signalling contact 226 has identical depth dimensions 248.
Fig. 3 is the top view according to the contact organizer 202 of the termination connector assembly 102 of an embodiment. This contact organizer 202 shows the relative position of contact 226,228 and group 230-236.Contact 226,228 with the group 230-236 in one or more orientations can be different with relative position with the embodiment shown in Fig. 3.Contact organizer 202 extends on second direction 258.For example, contact organizer 202 along second direction 258 extend bigger than it along distance that first direction 256 extends.
As mentioned above, signalling contact 226 not on the same group 230-236 can be arranged to use the data-signal of the dissimilar or pattern of identical signalling contact 226 transmission.Utilize the type of the signal of signalling contact 226 transmission to depend on the arrangement of signalling contact 226.Number and the arrangement of group 230-236 can change to satisfy the demand of connector assembly 100.In one embodiment, when using identical or substantially the same signalling contact 226 and each group 230-236 transmission data of different types signal in each group 230-236, the quantity of dissimilar signalling contacts 226 can be less than the quantity of using the signal type that signalling contact 226 transmitted in the connector assembly 100.
Organize the group distance 900-904 that is spaced apart from each other between a pair of group adjacent among the 230-236.For example, group 230,232 spaced apart group distances 900.Group 232,234 spaced apart group distances 902.Group 234,236 spaced apart group distances 904.Interblock space can be measured as along second direction 258 in group distance between the immediate signalling contact 226 in adjacent a pair of group among the 230-236 apart from 900-904.For example, interblock space can be the distance between the 906-916 of border among the 230-236 on the same group not apart from 900-904.Border 906-916 represents along the edge of corresponding group of 230-236 of first direction 256 extensions.906-916 outermost signalling contact 226 on the side that is arranged in respective sets 230-236 in border extends.Adjust interblock space can reduce signalling contact 226 apart from 900-904 the not interference between the 230-236 on the same group.Such as, interblock space is apart from one or more being increased with crosstalking between the adjacent set 230-236 that reduces signalling contact 226 among the 900-904.
As mentioned above, first group of 230 interior signalling contact 226 pressed the differential pair mode arrangement.Along the contact line 244 not being had the signalling contact 226 with differential pair 238 orientations can be the earthing contact electrical ground of electric coupling connector assembly 100 (shown in Fig. 1).Ground signalling contact 226 in first group 230 can be along earth connection 918,920 orientations. For example, the ground signalling contact 226 horizontal earth connection 920 that can extend linear alignment each other along the earth connection 918 that extends along second direction 258 and along first direction 256.In the illustrated embodiment, align with several other ground signalling contacts 226 along an earth connection 918 and an earth connection 920 in each ground signalling contact 226.
The earth connection 918 first ground connection size 922 that is separated from each other, and the earth connection 920 second ground connection size 924 that is separated from each other. The first ground connection size 922 is to measure along first direction 256, and the second ground connection size 924 is to measure along second direction 258.Ground connection size 922,924 differs from one another. For example, the second ground connection size 924 can be greater than the first ground connection size 922.Alternately, ground connection size 922,924 can be roughly the same. Can be roughly the same for every pair of adjacent ground wire 918, the first ground connection sizes 922, and can be roughly the same for every pair of adjacent ground wire 920, the second ground connection sizes 924.Selectively, adjacent earth connection 918,920 to reply among, one or more ground connection sizes 922,924 can be different. Can adjust the electrical impedance characteristic of the layout of first group of 230 interior signalling contact 226, or reduce crosstalking of 226 of signalling contacts with control signal contact 226.Such as, similar with interblock space apart from 900-904, can adjust one or more ground connection sizes 922,924 to change the electrical impedance characteristic of termination connector assembly 102.
Spacing 930 between the signalling contact 226 spaced apart contacts in the differential pair 238.Minimum range between the signalling contact 226 in spacing 930 can be restricted to every pair 238 between the contact.Spacing 930 is all roughly the same to 238 for all between the contact, or in first group 230 to 238 among different.Spacing 930 is to change the electrical impedance characteristic of termination connector assembly 102 between adjustable contact.Such as, can increase the electrical impedance that spacing 930 between the contact increases termination connector assembly 102.
Signalling contact 226 in second group 232 can be arranged by rule grid at interval, so that each signalling contact 226 separates first size of space 926 with immediate adjacent or close signalling contact 226 on first direction 256.Similarly, each signalling contact 226 also can separate second size of space 928 with immediate adjacent or close signalling contact 226 on second direction 258.First and second sizes of space 926,928 each other can be roughly the same or different. As mentioned above, can change first and second sizes of space 926,928 to adjust the electrical impedance characteristic of termination connector assembly 102 (shown in Fig. 1).As top and following described, the spacing that can adjust every group of signalling contact 226 in third and fourth group 234,236 is simulated with the coaxial of signalling contact 226 with arrangement and is connected. In conjunction with Fig. 7 to 10, the various intervals of signalling contact 226 in the group 234,236 and the example of arrangement are provided below.
