Abstract

The present invention provides a surface treatment solution and a surface treatment method that does not contain environmentally harmful components, does not generate waste sludge, and can deposit a surface treatment film that is excellent in corrosion resistance after coating on a metal surface. The present invention provides a treatment solution for metal surface treatment, the treatment solution is an aqueous surface for surface treatment of metal materials selected from iron-based materials, zinc-based materials, aluminum-based materials, and magnesium-based materials, either individually or simultaneously. The treatment liquid contains 5 to 5000 ppm of the above-mentioned metal element selected from one or more compounds selected from zirconium compounds and titanium compounds, further contains 0.1 to 100 ppm of free fluorine ions, and has a pH of 2 to 6. Furthermore, the treatment liquid may contain calcium compounds, magnesium compounds or strontium compounds, nitrates, oxoacids and/or oxoacid salts, polymer compounds, and surfactants. The metal material is brought into contact with the above-mentioned treatment solution, or electrolytically treated in the above-mentioned treatment solution to form a film.
