In one embodiment, the instructions 20 include a method of applying a surface covering material to an interior corner formed at the junction of the first and second surfaces. In this embodiment, the method includes the step of scribing a line on the first surface, the scribed line being substantially parallel to the junction portion of the first and second surfaces. The line is spaced from the junction by an amount less than the width of the roll of surface covering material. For example, a line may be drawn on the wall parallel to the junction of the wall with the second wall and spaced about 3.5 cm from the junction. Using surface covering material from a roll of material having a width of about 5 cm, apply a portion of the surface covering material to the first surface between the line and the joint, with one edge of the surface covering material aligned with the line . A portion of the surface covering material covers the portion of the second surface beyond the joint, about 1.5 cm of material is applied to the second wall beyond the joint. Smooth the applied portion of the material to remove any wrinkles or trapped air in the portion applied to the first or second wall. This process can be repeated until the entire wall joint is covered. The portion of the surface covering material may be applied to the second wall in an amount of about 0.1 cm to about 2.5 cm. After a portion of the surface covering material is applied to the first surface and overlapped onto the second surface, a second portion of the surface covering material can be applied to the second surface. A second portion may be applied so as to overlap the previously applied portion. The second part may be applied entirely to the second surface, or the second part may be applied so as to partially overlap the first surface.

In one embodiment, the instructions 20 include a method for applying a surface covering material. In this embodiment, the method includes the step of selecting a portion of the target surface that is substantially free of obstructions and corner regions. A first portion of the surface covering material is applied to the junction of the target surface and the second surface. For example, without limiting the invention, one section or sections of a trim width roll of surface covering material may be used to cover the center portion of a room wall where the wall meets the ceiling or ceiling trim wood members. After trimming, a second portion of the surface covering material is applied from the first portion, across the target surface, to the desired termination point of the surface covering. In this example, where a wide roll of material is applied, there is some overlap of the trim between the trim and the lower termination point of the floor, floor joint woodwork, wainscoting, or other surface covering material.

Surface coverage may be applied at intervals at the convenience of the installer. As in the case of wallpaper installation, there is no need to wet the edges, or any need to keep them wet, or to manipulate the web material before it dries. The application of material does not have to start in an inconspicuous part of the room. Instead, the application can be started in a very open and obvious part of the area to be covered.

In one embodiment, the instructions include a method for applying the surface covering material such that adjacent portions of the surface covering material abut each other without overlapping seams.

In one embodiment, the method includes the step of providing an amount of surface covering laminate. This amount can be divided into discrete portions either manually or using a lamination applicator. At least a portion of the surface covering laminate comprises a web material having a first side and a second side, wherein the first side comprises an adhesive, and wherein the second side is releasably bonded to a release liner material or a sheet of backing material . The first side of the first part of the surface covering laminate is arranged in contact with the surface to be covered. The first side of the second part of the surface covering laminate is arranged in contact with the surface to be covered, and at least a part of the second part overlaps a part of the release liner of the first part. The release liner was removed from the second portion of the face covering laminate. The release liner is removed from the first portion of the surface covering laminate and the portion of the first portion that overlaps the second portion. This causes the second part to be adjacent to and adjoins the first part.

By applying a portion of an adhesive-backed backing sheet removal tool to the upper corner of the release liner and pulling down from the long edge of the surface covering laminate at an angle of about 15 degrees to about 75 degrees, Facilitates the removal of sheets of backing material or release liners. In an alternative embodiment, the backing sheet can be removed by pulling from the long edge at an angle of about 30 degrees to about 60 degrees. A backing sheet removal tool may be secured to each successive portion of the surface covering laminate while the portion is secured to the target surface. In one embodiment, the instructions 20 include a card illustrating how to use the adhesive-backed backing sheet removal tool.

Since the material is pulled apart by a moving motion along the target surface away from the starting point, the peel angle associated with the removal process is approximately 180 degrees. At the same time, the material is also stretched from the long edge of the surface covering material at an angle of about 15 degrees to about 75 degrees.

(Speedball Art Products)。In one embodiment, the seaming method includes smoothing the second portion of material where it overlaps the first portion of material. Smoothing the material by passing a roller smoothing tool along the overlap can improve removal of the overlapping portion as well as the backing sheet of the first portion. An exemplary leveling tool is a Speedball Brayer available from Speedball Art Products of Statesville, North Carolina.

In one embodiment, the method includes aligning an edge of a tool along an overlapping edge of the first portion to facilitate material removal prior to removing the release liner of the first portion.
