Description

Process for the production of an azo dye particularly suitable for chrome printing on cotton. It has been found that by coupling diazotized 1-amino-29-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid with resorcylic acid, an azo dye is obtained which, when printed with chrome on cotton, produces deep violet shades of very good soap and lightfastness .

Example: The diazoic acid prepared in a known manner from 29319 parts 1-Amitio-2> -oxy- ii # iplitaliii-4-stilfosäure is in the most concentrated form possible a concentrated solution of 15.4 parts ig resorcyl acid and 30 parts of soda combined. Immediately afterwards, add 40 parts of sodium hydroxide solution ä 30 # 'i! O, after which the coupling begins.

After the combination has been completed, which takes a long time, the very easily soluble dye is precipitated with mirieral acid, filtered, pressed and dried. When dry, it is a greenish-black powder which dissolves in water with a brownish-red color. When õda is added, the color changes to purple. The dye dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a violet "color. When printing chrome on cotton, it produces deep violet-blue tones of very good soap and lightfastness.
