Abstract

The heat sealing device has a pair of cooperating sealing clamps (41,42) brought together on either side of the packaging foil. At least one of the clamps (41,42) incorporates an inductive heating coil (45) used to heat the conductive layer (49) sandwiched within the thermoplastics foil (48), for melting the latter. The inductive heating coil (45) has at least one elongate current conductor loop incorporated in the face of the clamp (41,42). it exhibits a varying distance from the foil along the surface of this face. ADVANTAGE - Prevents overheating of foil at centre of clamp plates.

  Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung zum thermischen Versiegeln von Verbundfolien gemäss dem Oberbegriff des Patentanspruchs 1. 



  Zum Versiegeln oder Verschweissen von Verpackungsmaterialen, die neben einer thermoplastischen Schicht, z.B. aus Polyäthylen oder Polypropylen, eine Metallschicht aufweisen, werden oft Hochfrequenz-Siegeleinrichtungen eingesetzt. Der grosse Vorteil eines solchen Induktionssiegelverfahrens beruht darauf, dass Wirbelströme nur in der Metallschicht entstehen und somit Wärme nur direkt neben der thermoplastischen Schicht erzeugt wird. Dies erlaubt, dicke und schlecht wärmeleitende Verbundfolien mit kurzen Siegelzeiten zu verschweissen. Eine solche Verbundfolie besteht beispielsweise aus einer dünnen Metallfolie, insbesondere aus Aluminium, die sich zwischen einer viel dickeren Kartonfolie und der thermoplastischen Schicht befindet. 



  Bei einer solchen Vorrichtung stellt sich das Problem, die Siegelzeiten derart zu gestalten, dass keine Teile der Folie übermässig erwärmt, beziehungsweise verbrannt werden. 



  Der Erfindung liegt daher die Aufgabe zugrunde, eine wenig aufwendige Vorrichtung der eingangs erwähnten Art zu schaffen, mit der eine übermässige Erwärmung von Teilen der Folie vermieden wird. 



  Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäss durch eine Vorrichtung mit den im kennzeichnenden Teil des Patentanspruchs 1 angegebenen Merkmalen gelöst. Vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen der Erfindung sind in weiteren Ansprüchen angegeben. 



  Die Erfindung wird nachfolgend anhand eines in der Zeichnung veranschaulichten Ausführungsbeispiels näher beschrieben. Dabei zeigen: 
 
   Fig. 1 eine Einrichtung mit einer Vorrichtung zum thermischen Versiegeln von Verpackungen, die mit Verbundfolien versehen sind,

  Die in Fig. 1 dargestellte Einrichtung weist einen über drei Anschlüsse R, S, T an das elektrische Netz angeschlossenen Hochfrequenz-Generator GE auf, der mit Hilfe von elektrischen Leitungen 1 und 2 über eine Schwingkreis-Schaltung LC mit einer Vorrichtung VS zum thermischen Versiegeln nach der Erfindung verbunden ist. Die Einrichtung kann Rohrleitungen 3, 4, 5, 6 aufweisen, über die Kühlwasser aus einer Wasserleitung WS den Elementen GE, LC und/oder VS zugeführt wird, das ausgangsseitig über weitere Rohrleitungen 7, 8, 9 beispielsweise in ein Wasserreservoir WR abfliesst. 



  Die Vorrichtung VS umfasst eine Siegelbacke SB und eine Siegelhalterung SH, die derart ausgestaltet sind, dass ein Spalt 10 zwischen den beiden entsteht, in den die zu versiegelnden Verpackungsfolien eingeführt werden. 



  Die Schaltung LC besteht vorzugsweise aus einem Querkondensator C und einer variablen Längsinduktivität L. 



  Die Siegelbacke nach Fig. 2 umfasst eine aus zwei parallelen Schienen 11 und 12 ausgebildete Arbeitsspule. Die Schienen 11 und 12 bestehen aus je einem langgestreckten Stromleiter beispielsweise aus Kupfer, deren mittlerer Teil 13 bzw. 14 etwas nach unten (Fig. 2) versetzt ist, so dass sie ein wannenartiges Profil zeigen. Eine solche Schiene 11 bzw. 12 ist somit dreiteilig mit einem vorderen Teil 15 bzw. 16 und einem hinteren Teil 17 bzw. 18 ausgestaltet, wobei die Teile 17 und 18 an einem Ende miteinander verbunden sind. Die Schienen 11 und 12 sind in einen Block 19 aus einem elektrisch nichtleitenden Material derart eingebettet, dass die oberen Oberflächen der Teile 15, 16, 17 und 18 bündig mit der oberen Oberfläche des Blocks 19 sind. Zu diesem Zweck kann der Querschnitt der Schienen 11 und 12 viereckig sein. 



  Die Siegelbacke nach Fig. 3 ist mit einer Arbeitsspule nach Fig. 2 versehen, die jedoch in ein Zwischenstück 21 aus Ferrit oder aus einem anderen elektrisch isolierenden, jedoch magnetisch leitenden Material eingebettet ist, wobei dieses Zwischenstück 21 in einem Block 22 aus einem elektrisch nichtleitenden Material montiert ist. Zur Aufnahme der Schienen kann das Zwischenstück 21 einstückig und mit Nuten versehen sein oder aus mehreren Stücken 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 (Fig. 4) bestehen. Die Siegelbacken nach Fig. 2, 3 oder 4 können Ausnehmungen aufweisen und/oder mit Rohren  als Bestandteilen eines mit einer Flüssigkeit arbeitenden Kühlsystems versehen sein. So ist beispielsweise die Backe nach Fig. 3 mit einem gekrümmten Rohr 23 und die Backe nach Fig. 4 mit einer durchgehenden Bohrung 36 versehen. 



  Die Vorrichtung nach Fig. 5 weist zwei als Siegelbacken 41, 42 ausgebildete Siegelorgane auf, die im Gegensatz zur Darstellung in der Figur nicht unbedingt gleich sein müssen. Die Backe 41 umfasst einen Block 43, ein Joch 44, auch Zwischenstück 44 genannt, und eine Arbeitsspule 45. Die Elemente 43, 44 und 45 können so aufgebaut sein, wie bereits anhand der Fig. 2 bis 4 erläutert. In den Spalt zwischen den Backen 41 und 42, von denen mindestens eine beweglich ist, werden zwei Schleifen 46, 47 aus Verbundfolie eingeführt. Dann werden die Siegelbacken 41 und 42 zusammengedrückt und gleichzeitig oder kurz danach ein Hochfrequenz-Strompuls durch die Arbeitsspule durchgelassen, wobei die Arbeitsfrequenz beispielsweise im Bereich von 300 KHz bei einer Taktzeit im Bereich von 10 bis 1000 msec oder mehr liegen kann.

  Dadurch werden die zwei gegenüberliegenden Zonen der Schleife 46, die zwei gegenüberliegenden Zonen der Schleife 47 und die zwei gegenüberliegenden Zonen des Bereichs 50 gleichzeitig zusammengepresst. Die so entstandenen thermoplastischen Doppelschichten werden durch die in der Metallschicht 49 erzeugten Wirbelströme erhitzt, um so die zwei Schleifen 46 und 47 und den Bereich 50 gleichzeitig zu versiegeln. Im  Spalt zwischen den Schleifen 46 und 47 ergibt sich somit keine Versiegelung, denn dort werden die Zonen der Verbundfolien an nichtthermoplastischen Schichten aneinander gepresst. Eine Versiegelung zwischen den Schleifen 46 und 47 wäre für viele Anwendungen auch nicht sinnvoll. Im Beispiel nach Fig. 5 wurden gleichzeitig zwei Schleifen versiegelt; es versteht sich jedoch von selbst, dass auch die Versiegelung einer einzigen oder von mehr als zwei Schleifen möglich ist. 



   In den Spalt zwischen den Backen 41 und 42 (Fig. 5) wird der zu verschweissende Teil einer Verpackungseinheit, beispielsweise ein flachgefalteter Schlauch, nach Fig. 6 eingeführt. Dieser Schlauch 51 (Fig. 6), der bereits mit einer Längsnaht 52 versehen sein kann, weist mindestens an einer Längsseite zwei schleifenartige Faltungen auf, die sowohl in Fig. 5 als auch in Fig. 6 mit den Bezugszeichen 46 und 47 gekennzeichnet sind. Die Breitseite des Schlauches 51 weist drei Bereiche A, B und C auf. Das wannenförmige Profil der Stromleiter 45 (Fig. 5) oder der Stromleiter 11 und 12 (Fig. 2) ist derart vorgesehen, dass der Endbereich A (Fig. 6) zwischen die Teile 15 und 16 (Fig. 2) und der Endbereich C (Fig. 6) zwischen die Teile 17 und 18 (Fig. 2) eingeführt werden kann. Demgegenüber bleibt der mittlere Bereich B (Fig. 6) in einem grösseren Abstand von den Teilen 13 und 14 (Fig. 2).

   Dadurch, dass der Energieeintrag  im Bereich B durch den grösseren Abstand entsprechend kleiner ist, tritt in diesem Bereich eine Verschweissung, jedoch keine Verbrennung der Verbundfolie auf. 



  Zur Vereinfachung der Vorrichtung ist es möglich, mit nur einer Siegelbacke zu arbeiten. Das andere Siegelorgan kann eine einfache, gegebenenfalls mit einem vorzugsweise flacher Gummistück versehene Siegelhalterung sein. 



  Die Schienen oder Stromleiter 11, 12 können auch selbst eine Bohrung aufweisen, um den Durchfluss eines Kühlmittels zu erlauben.

  For sealing or welding packaging materials which, in addition to a thermoplastic layer, e.g. Made of polyethylene or polypropylene, which have a metal layer, high-frequency sealing devices are often used. The great advantage of such an induction sealing process is that eddy currents only occur in the metal layer and therefore heat is only generated directly next to the thermoplastic layer. This makes it possible to weld thick and poorly heat-conducting composite films with short sealing times. Such a composite film consists, for example, of a thin metal film, in particular aluminum, which is located between a much thicker cardboard film and the thermoplastic layer.



  With such a device, the problem arises of designing the sealing times in such a way that no parts of the film are excessively heated or burned.



  The invention is therefore based on the object of creating a less complex device of the type mentioned at the outset, with which excessive heating of parts of the film is avoided.



  This object is achieved according to the invention by a device with the features specified in the characterizing part of patent claim 1. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are specified in further claims.



  The invention is described below with reference to an embodiment illustrated in the drawing. Show:

  The device shown in FIG. 1 has a high-frequency generator GE connected to the electrical network via three connections R, S, T, which, with the aid of electrical lines 1 and 2, via a resonant circuit circuit LC with a device VS for thermal sealing is connected according to the invention. The device can have pipelines 3, 4, 5, 6, via which cooling water from a water pipe WS is supplied to the elements GE, LC and / or VS, which flows out on the outlet side via further pipelines 7, 8, 9, for example into a water reservoir WR.



  The device VS comprises a sealing jaw SB and a sealing holder SH, which are designed in such a way that a gap 10 is created between the two, into which the packaging films to be sealed are inserted.



  The circuit LC preferably consists of a transverse capacitor C and a variable series inductance L.



  2 comprises a work spool formed from two parallel rails 11 and 12. The rails 11 and 12 each consist of an elongated current conductor, for example made of copper, the central part 13 and 14 of which is offset somewhat downward (FIG. 2), so that they show a trough-like profile. Such a rail 11 or 12 is thus designed in three parts with a front part 15 or 16 and a rear part 17 or 18, the parts 17 and 18 being connected to one another at one end. The rails 11 and 12 are embedded in a block 19 made of an electrically non-conductive material such that the upper surfaces of the parts 15, 16, 17 and 18 are flush with the upper surface of the block 19. For this purpose, the cross section of the rails 11 and 12 can be square.



  The sealing jaw according to FIG. 3 is provided with a work coil according to FIG. 2, which is, however, embedded in an intermediate piece 21 made of ferrite or another electrically insulating but magnetically conductive material, this intermediate piece 21 in a block 22 made of an electrically non-conductive Material is mounted. To accommodate the rails, the intermediate piece 21 can be in one piece and provided with grooves or consist of several pieces 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 (FIG. 4). The sealing jaws according to FIGS. 2, 3 or 4 can have recesses and / or can be provided with tubes as components of a cooling system working with a liquid. For example, the jaw of FIG. 3 is provided with a curved tube 23 and the jaw of FIG. 4 is provided with a through hole 36.



  The device according to FIG. 5 has two sealing members designed as sealing jaws 41, 42 which, in contrast to the representation in the figure, do not necessarily have to be the same. The jaw 41 comprises a block 43, a yoke 44, also called an intermediate piece 44, and a work coil 45. The elements 43, 44 and 45 can be constructed as already explained with reference to FIGS. 2 to 4. Two loops 46, 47 made of composite film are introduced into the gap between the jaws 41 and 42, of which at least one is movable. Then the sealing jaws 41 and 42 are pressed together and, at the same time or shortly thereafter, a high-frequency current pulse is passed through the work coil, wherein the work frequency can be, for example, in the range of 300 KHz with a cycle time in the range of 10 to 1000 msec or more.

  As a result, the two opposite zones of loop 46, the two opposite zones of loop 47 and the two opposite zones of area 50 are pressed together at the same time. The resulting thermoplastic double layers are heated by the eddy currents generated in the metal layer 49 so as to seal the two loops 46 and 47 and the area 50 at the same time. There is therefore no sealing in the gap between the loops 46 and 47, because there the zones of the composite films are pressed together on non-thermoplastic layers. A seal between the loops 46 and 47 would also not make sense for many applications. In the example according to FIG. 5, two loops were sealed at the same time; however, it goes without saying that it is also possible to seal a single loop or more than two loops.



   The part of a packaging unit to be welded, for example a flat-folded tube, according to FIG. 6, is introduced into the gap between the jaws 41 and 42 (FIG. 5). This hose 51 (FIG. 6), which can already be provided with a longitudinal seam 52, has at least on one longitudinal side two loop-like folds, which are identified both in FIG. 5 and in FIG. 6 with the reference symbols 46 and 47. The broad side of the hose 51 has three areas A, B and C. The trough-shaped profile of the current conductors 45 (FIG. 5) or the current conductors 11 and 12 (FIG. 2) is provided in such a way that the end region A (FIG. 6) between the parts 15 and 16 (FIG. 2) and the end region C (Fig. 6) between the parts 17 and 18 (Fig. 2) can be inserted. In contrast, the central region B (FIG. 6) remains at a greater distance from the parts 13 and 14 (FIG. 2).

   Because the energy input in area B is correspondingly smaller due to the greater distance, welding occurs in this area, but no combustion of the composite film occurs.



  To simplify the device, it is possible to work with only one sealing jaw. The other sealing element can be a simple sealing holder, optionally provided with a preferably flat rubber piece.



  The rails or current conductors 11, 12 themselves can also have a bore in order to allow the flow of a coolant.

1. Vorrichtung zum thermischen Versiegeln von Verbundfolien, die eine thermoplastische Schicht (48) neben einer elektrisch leitfähigen Schicht (49) aufweisen, wobei die Vorrichtung zwei zusammendrückbare Siegelorgane (SB, SH; 41, 42) umfasst, von denen mindestens eines eine Siegelbacke mit einer elektrischen Arbeitsspule (11, 12) ist, die mittels eines Induktionsverfahrens zur Erwärmung der leitfähigen Schicht (49) dient, um beim Zusammendrücken der Siegelorgane die thermoplastischen Schichten (48) zweier aneinanderliegenden Verbundfolien zu verschweissen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Arbeitsspule mindestens einen länglichen Stromleiter (11; 12) umfasst, der derart ausgestaltet ist, dass sich ein unterschiedlicher Abstand zwischen der gegen die Verbundfolie gerichteten Oberfläche des Stromleiters (11; 12) und der Verbundfolie ergibt.       1. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass dieses Material Ferrit ist. 8.
